March 7, 2010 at 14:48 #280990Neptune: QUEL ESPRIT £10 e/w 8/1
RSA: PUNCHESTOWNS £10 e/w 4/1
Albert Bartlett: ENTERPRISE PARK £10 e/w 13/2
Jewson: RIVALISTE £5 e/w 7/1
William Hill: BENSALEM £5 e/w 13/2
March 7, 2010 at 15:29 #280995An update on my bets:
Supreme Novices: DUNGUIB 3/1 (with Irish-trained bumper winner)
Arkle: CAPTAIN CEE BEE 7/1 now: 10/3
William Hill: BENSALEM 13/2 now: 13/2
Neptune Nov Hurdle: RITE OF PASSAGE 14/1 now: 5/2
QUEL ESPRIT 8/1 now: 8/1RSA: PANDORAMA 12/1 now: NR
WEAPON’S AMNESTY 16/1 now: 10/1
PUNCHESTOWNS 4/1 now: 4/1Champion Chase: BIG ZEB 8/1 now: 8/1
KALAHARI KING 10/1 now: 5/1Champion Bumper: HIDDEN UNIVERSE 20/1 now: 7/1
Jewson: RIVALISTE 7/1 now: 7/1
Ryanair: JONCOL 10/1 now: NR
Triumph: PITTONI 25/1 now: 25/1
Albert Bartlett: QUEL ESPRIT 5/1 now: 7/1
ENTERPRISE PARK 13/2 now: 13/2March 9, 2010 at 13:51 #281328In the thinking that if Dunguib goes for the Champion, then Get Me Out Of Here wins the Supreme, but, if Dunguib stays in the Supreme, GMOOH goes for the County, i’ve just done the following, NRNB
£20 Get Me Out Of Here @ 7/1 – Supreme
£20 Dunguib @ 5/1 – Champion.
Plus a sneaky £5 DOUBLE.
March 9, 2010 at 13:58 #281330Dunguib runs in the Supreme.
March 9, 2010 at 14:06 #281332Well there we are then!
March 9, 2010 at 18:19 #281379Would probably try and have around 90% of bets before the meeting starts so will topping these up when NRNB kicks in. The idea would be for one bet to cover the others and if a second comes in we are in profit. In no better than an average position at the moment. All bets are each way and I rarely take less than 8/1 ante-post.
Supreme: QUANTITATIVEEASING (20/1)
NR (0/5) – this is the race I would have targeted but on the Kempton run he would have had no chance.
Neptune: QUANTITATIVEEASING (14/1)
(1/5) – doubtful stayer and not good enough.
RSA: WEIRD AL (12/1)
(3/5) – very solid just a case of whether that will be good enough – would like to add Burton Port if confirmed.
Arkle: TATANIANO (33/1 & 20/1 – last April)
(2/5) – haven’t totally given up but Walsh will have to produce the ride of his career – Captain Cee Bee should win with a blemish free round but I can’t trust AP to produce one of those so will not be going in again.
Triumph – NOTUS DE LA TOUR (25/1)
(3/5) – open race – if he runs and the ground doesn’t dry up has as good a chance as any.
World Hurdle – W/O BIG BUCKS – TIDAL BAY (8/1) & TIME FOR RUPERT (10/1)
(3/5) Big Bucks will win – of the other two I am increasingly leaning towards Time For Rupert particularly after reading that Brian Harding was going be on Tidal Bay – hopefully that was a misprint
Bumper – UP OU THAT (14/1) & CUE CARD (33/1)
(3/5 & 1/5) – open race – the Weld pair are as short as Dunguib was which can’t be right – Up Ou That looks the part and should improve considerably racing on quicker ground – I should have waited to back Cue Card.
Champion Hurdle – Medermit (20/1)
(3/5) – solid chance in another open race.
Added a few more – handicaps have been very difficult as you have to be pretty exposed just to get in
Ryanair – POQUELIN (5/1)
(3/5) – clearly better chance if it dries up.
Albert Bartlett – TELL MASSINI (5/1 & 9/2)
(4/5) – most solid of the bets should go very close
William Hill Trophy – THE PACKAGE (10/1)
(2/5) – have my doubts about him getting in but obviously others don’t
Jewson – THE HOLLINWELL (12/1)
(2/5) – hopefully is a lot better than he has actually shown so far
Festival Bumper – CUE CARD (33/1)
(2/5) – couldn’t resist another go, bet looks a little better now I know he has been entered
RSA – BURTON PORT (25/1)
(2/5) – solid profile – keeping my fingers crossed AP doesn’t get offered the ride
Further update:-
Jewson – HEY BIG SPENDER (12/1)
(3/5) – at first glance has plenty of weight but to counter has course form and scope for more improvement
Coral Cup – WISHFULL THINKING (14/1) & MOURAD (16/1)
(2/5 & 3/5) – Wishfull Thinking looked to be very progressive last time but still inexperienced and all form right handed; Mourad will surely run here in preference to stayers, course form and should go well
Martin Pipe – PEVERIL (14/1) & BORN AGAIN (25/1)
(3/5 & 1/5) – Peveril tough and progressive beat a useful horse last time; Born Again a strong travelling potential chaser who should improve on the better ground
Fred Winter – NOTUS DE LA TOUR (8/1)
(4/5) – Just in case they are silly enough not to go for the Triumph
Pertemps – ALFIE SHERRIN (6/1)
(3/5) – Tried hard to resist and very short on experience but the Newbury race is working out exceptionally well
Neptune – WISHFULL THINKING (25/1)
(2/5) – Just in case he mises the Coral
National Hunt – PRESENTING FOREVER (33/1)
(3/5) Four miles should help (Presenting out of a Roselier mare) and Wogan form does not look too bad
Kim Muir – PALYPSO DE CREEK (20/1)
(2/5) – Should cope with the drying ground and looks to have a solid chance – may add Shillingstone if the ground continues to dry
So far have one non-runner but fearing Quantitativeeasing will be taken out of both races and there might be more woe to come with Tataniano and Notus De La Tour. Hopefully it will all balance out.
March 9, 2010 at 21:45 #281411Put these two on about a week ago, got about £10 more on with accumulators etc, may put a few more on before next week but not sure yet!
Dunguib 4/5
Garde Champetre 9/4
Big Bucks 8/13£35 ew treble.
Long run 5/1
Garde Champetre 9/4
VLV 3/1£1.50 ew patent
Bit worried about VLV as I think she may run in the champion!!
March 9, 2010 at 22:12 #281413Just added Muirhead 100/1 ew for the Ch Hurdle. Not even sure that he’s running, but I’m convinced there’s a 100/1 winner out there somewhere.
March 9, 2010 at 22:35 #281416I’ve had £10 on General Miller for the Supreme at 44s and £10 on Katchit for the World Hurdle at 40s. I backed him last year for it at 33s and laid it off after Aintree, but King sounds extremely bullish about Katchit and sounded a lot more positive about him than Big Buck’s even.

March 19, 2010 at 16:18 #283957(Looking at the situation in reverse, Mon Mome has a good chance of coming 3rd or 4th in the Gold Cup.)
Gerald
Didn’t realise I had wrote that as long ago as early June.
March 19, 2010 at 16:21 #283959Been having/will be having £5 a week on Celestial Halo for the Champion Hurdle and Big Zeb for the Champion Chase until something bad/good happens to them.
