I have one just never used it.

Well its time you did! Laying in running, now thats a mans game! A word of advice though, its a lot harder to lay on the flat, i specialise in poor jumpers and "Jibbers" throughout the winter!
August 17, 2009 at 01:01 #244227Why aren’t you called The Laying In-Running King so Gordie??!
August 17, 2009 at 14:57 #244300Good point Imperial, but i see
Mikael d"Hageunet
as a very similar horse to
Denman
and i was backing him at 7/1 for the RSA at the same time i"m backing Mikael for the same race! Denman was never a 2 miler and neither is this fellow,IMO of course!
Any comparisons between Mikael and Denman are well wide of the mark, imo.
For one thing, Denman didn’t have enough toe to win an RSA Hurdle – let alone over the minimum trip – and always looked like a staying chaser in the making. Mikael has a different profile; having enough dash to win over 2m over hurdles, to go with his apparent stamina.
If Mikael can be compared to any horse of recent years, it is probably Monsignor – and even that one had a more obvious physique for chasing than Mikael does.

I lay more than i back these days, particularly over the jumps, its not too easy to put up anything on the forum about laying in running as i only ever bet at less than 2/1 and you cant guarantee you will get your price as you dont know how the race will pan out! I am quite happy just being the Ante-Post King, 40/1 winners dont exist when you are laying Imperial!
August 25, 2009 at 12:08 #245645TAPK has invested again in his Arkle selection,
Somersby
at 16/1, i see Mikael strangely is favourite still, the sooner Mr Mullins confirms he is an RSA horse the better!! £££"s
August 25, 2009 at 16:51 #245683Walkon is surely a live Arkle candidate. He looks every bit a chaser.
If Mikael D’Haguenet goes for the Arkle he’ll hack up. IMO the race is tailor made for him.
August 26, 2009 at 02:48 #245814Even though we’re not likely to get rock hard ground at Cheltenham, isn’t there still an element of doubt about Mikael running if the ground isn’t on the soft side? Willy Mullins isn’t going to risk him on ground that he thinks unsuitable.
August 26, 2009 at 03:13 #245818That reminds me. What happens to the sidebet if Md’H is a non-runner. Is there still a winner?

He will be running guys, bar injury of course! I cant wait to see him jump a fence, that will give us a clue about wether he can jump at speed (2m) or wether he needs a steadier pace (3m)!! I cant see him going for the Ryanair
either way mind! Sorry Grass! That would be one string out of your bow! (Of many)!!August 26, 2009 at 15:27 #245871The amount of exclamation marks in this post, suggests to me that you’re already panicking, TAPK.

Not while Crack Away Jack has 4 legs he won’t. CAJ won the Fred Winter under joint top weight he was 4th in the Champion Hurdle beaten less than 3 lengths and has always been regarded as a hurdler waiting to go chasing.
I can’t wait to see him go chasing, and think he’s a knocking AP bet for the Arkle at 10/1 and if Ruby is free you can be sure he will want to ride him.
Much depends on how things work out for each individual early doors but if Crack Away Jack is as good a chaser as they think he will be and things go well for Sizing Europe and Osana I doubt if Mullins will even consider going that route. If he does it is far more likely, as I said before, he would aim Cousin Vinny at the Arkle and not Mikael D’Haguenet.
Incidentally, In Ireland with Cahsmans Cousin Vinny is currently 6/1 joint favourite with Crack Away Jack for the Arkle.
Mikael D’Haguenet has been taken out of their arkle betting and installed as 7/2 fav for the RSA.
August 26, 2009 at 17:03 #245894Fist, please tell me the circumstances in which neither Mullins nor Nicholls will have an Arkle runner, and Ruby Walsh will therefore be free to ride Crack Away Jack in the race – a horse he has never before thrown his leg across.
You don’t half talk some shite at times.

PS. If Cashmans have Cousin Vinny as joint-fave for the Arkle, it should be obvious that Fat Alice from the canteen made their book for the race. Either that, or Cashmans want to duck the one horse that they think will win
August 26, 2009 at 18:26 #245916The amount of exclamation marks in this post, suggests to me that you’re already panicking, TAPK.

The last time TAPK panicked was when he laid his
Fleeting Spirit
in the July Cup, because he thought it might rain! I have since had a serious word with myself! My only concern Grass would be if for some reason Mikael failed to jump fences and reverted back to hurdles! You are favourite to collect, but i am confident i have put all my "Pies" in one basket! You know about my problem with exclamation marks!!
