My only antepost bet so far is £4000 win @ 5/2 on Dunguib placed in November.
My joint biggest ever bet so hopefully it can win
February 13, 2010 at 18:14 #276264Wow 5/2 you lucky get! Why don’t you lay off for a easy nice profit?
February 13, 2010 at 18:21 #276270I still really fancy it to win.
I must admit though it’s tempting to lay off £4k worth so i have a no lose gamble. Have to try and keep my bottle

Tuesday 16th March
Champion Hurdle – Go Native (7/1)

February 14, 2010 at 13:49 #276580I had a tenner on Taranis yesterday for the Cup after Denham’s fall at 33s. He ticks most of the trends boxes and actually the only one I can see that he doesn’t meet is that he didn’t have his debut before January 1st this season. In terms of the trends, I think he’s the one who meets most of them off the top of my head. Cooldine, Imperial Commander and Kauto Star are the next 2 respectively. Cooldine and Imperial Commander both failed to win a Grade 1 or Grade 2 this season (by a neck LTO for the former, a nose FTO for the latter) and Kauto’s both too old and has had too many starts.
Denman’s really got no chance.

I can see Taranis running a big race Zarkava, but i can see
Calgary Bay
running a bigger one at 100/1, Imperial Commander and Albertas Run make up my 3 against the Big 2!

February 14, 2010 at 15:23 #276604Great stuff thm, thats how you want your Ante-Post book to look before you go to war!
February 14, 2010 at 15:29 #276606Yeah I have to admit I’m happy enough!
They have to make it to Cheltenham first though, never mind winning!
I think if Weld runs Hidden Universe in the bumper instead of Elegant Concorde he could go off 7/2. Remember the gamble on Rite Of Passage last year?!
February 14, 2010 at 16:05 #276621Would probably try and have around 90% of bets before the meeting starts so will topping these up when NRNB kicks in. The idea would be for one bet to cover the others and if a second comes in we are in profit. In no better than an average position at the moment. All bets are each way and I rarely take less than 8/1 ante-post.
Supreme: QUANTITATIVEEASING (20/1)
NR (0/5) – this is the race I would have targeted but on the Kempton run he would have had no chance.
Neptune: QUANTITATIVEEASING (14/1)
(1/5) – doubtful stayer and not good enough.
RSA: WEIRD AL (12/1)
(3/5) – very solid just a case of whether that will be good enough – would like to add Burton Port if confirmed.
Arkle: TATANIANO (33/1 & 20/1 – last April)
(2/5) – haven’t totally given up but Walsh will have to produce the ride of his career – Captain Cee Bee should win with a blemish free round but I can’t trust AP to produce one of those so will not be going in again.
Triumph – NOTUS DE LA TOUR (25/1)
(3/5) – open race – if he runs and the ground doesn’t dry up has as good a chance as any.
World Hurdle – W/O BIG BUCKS – TIDAL BAY (8/1) & TIME FOR RUPERT (10/1)
(3/5) Big Bucks will win – of the other two I am increasingly leaning towards Time For Rupert particularly after reading that Brian Harding was going be on Tidal Bay – hopefully that was a misprint
Bumper – UP OU THAT (14/1) & CUE CARD (33/1)
(3/5 & 1/5) – open race – the Weld pair are as short as Dunguib was which can’t be right – Up Ou That looks the part and should improve considerably racing on quicker ground – I should have waited to back Cue Card.
Champion Hurdle – Medermit (20/1)
(3/5) – solid chance in another open race.

I beg to differ – Saturday was just a prep run for the GC, didn’t really matter if he won or lost. I’m absolutely certain he’ll be in peak condition come next month as he was in the Hennessy and a fit, in-form Denman has the beating of Kauto Star as was seen in the 2008 GC.
February 15, 2010 at 17:21 #276899I can’t see past KS, unless denman dramastically improves from Saturday. They say they can’t find anything wrong with him, but that was like the Denman of last season. I know Nicholl’s said we will see a different horse, but i can’t help but feel he’s just adding to the hype, because he knows his favourite horse will win.
February 15, 2010 at 20:00 #276950The ruin of the finest spectacle, Kauto v Denman the decider! is the fact that both horses are in the same yard! Had Denman been trained by Alan King, this whole Debacle of the Aon chase would never have happened!
