This may be the kiss of death…but here goes.
Looking at both the form lines and the overall trends, Deep Purple stands out. He has finished ahead of better horses on a more consistent basis than his rivals, he’s a course and distance winner, it seems as if he’s been prepared for this race and – providing his blood vessels hold out – he looks the most likely winner.
Apologies in advance to his connections!

So don't run, just like the others always do
October 29, 2010 at 10:34 #325239You been away camping Gaz?
Highlighted that about 5 days ago and thought the same but it would seem George Charlton will run him, as the zip has gone out of the ground and with light rain and showers forecast the ground should be near perfect……decs should be out in an hour so we’ll soon know.China Rock has been pulled out for some reason which will no doubt upset a few AP punters as all the indications were he would run.
I have been in Wroughton since last Sunday, so that should give you a clue where ive been.

Not camping mind, im not made for that.

Habbie Simpson? ? ?
He did state the other day that his are needing the run.
We are just hoping for a bit more rain near Wroughton so that the grass gallops can be used, as most are still on the all weather at the moment, so once the wet weather comes, more should be getting their nose in front.
Jubail is the interesting runner today, but it is quite a stiff test today, against the Nicholls’ Domtaline, who looked very good to me, during his win at Chepstow earlier this month.
October 29, 2010 at 12:35 #325261I wouldn’t rule Ollie Magern out of this. Has won it before (2007 I think?) and has gone close a few times, inc. last year’s renewal. Obviously likes the track and is a game front runner, OK he’s getting on a bit but NTD can get him ready. He’d be my bet – him and Deep Purple to fight out the finish.

He has won the race twice in the past.
October 29, 2010 at 14:40 #325281Thre you go, further supporting my argument – I am unable to check the stats as I’m in work and most sites are blocked (!). He has a solid eachway chance IMO, won’t mind the ground either (currently good at Wetherby?).

I think someone forgot to tell Habbie he needed the run
Tough race that PN’s will need to be good to beat Nicky’s who’s apparantly some machine.Could be a pointer to how well there horses are for this tomorrow.
October 29, 2010 at 15:23 #325286I like Tother One, but if an outsider were to win, I suspect it might be Calgary Bay.
October 29, 2010 at 15:33 #325287I’m with Grimes.
Calgary Bay with prep race in the bag should go well.
October 29, 2010 at 19:45 #325317Got to be BARBER’S SHOP for me.
October 29, 2010 at 20:59 #325334Barbers Shop for me as well.
October 29, 2010 at 21:29 #325345Don’t fancy the royal nag at all. Always felt he was a bit of a hype horse.
I can see myself ending up with a bit of Calgary Bay ew and a saver on Nacarat.
October 29, 2010 at 22:14 #325352I’ve gone a bit mad and put £10 on Barbers at 7/2 at the OK Corals.
Bit of a crap price, I know – but it’s the old psychological thing of not wanting to have it return at less than the 7/2. Sneaky bookie playing with my mind.

Barbers has got so much in his favour – I think he’ll be well-tuned for the outing.
We’ll see

Zip
October 29, 2010 at 22:21 #325353Madness to betting in this with over half the field yet to see the racecourse this season. Even the trainers wont know which of the others are up for it.
You don’t have to bet!

With 57k to the winner, the trainers of the principles are unlikely to have left too much to work on.
Can’t have Barbers Shop – doubtful stayer, and would have been behind Nacarat in the KG, had the latter not been ridden like a bat out of hell. Deep Purple’s no laydown to last home either, with 5lb more against better horses, and at a probably stronger pace.
The Tother One surely needs softer or further and, with none of the others inspiring, it’s Nacarat’s to lose, imo.October 29, 2010 at 23:21 #325369

With all but one likey front-runner (Ollie Magern) out of the race, and Tom George as positive as he was prior to Nacarat’s Racing Post Chase romp at Kempton, the likeable grey will do for me.
5/1 is far too big against a doubtful stayer and generally sub-standard opposition.
