I doubt Bravemansgame will go to Cheltenham over 3 miles 2. Kempton, Leopardstown/Newbury, Aintree could be his main targets.
October 29, 2022 at 16:03 #1620854Russell and Scudamore should train Ahoy Senor for the 3 mile chase at Aintree in April. His record there is excellent and a lot of horses go there as an afterthought from Cheltenham.
But we all know they will run him in the Gold Cup because Cheltenham is “The Only Meeting That Matters”. Despite the fact he has no chance.
October 29, 2022 at 16:04 #1620855Well until he falls Nathan …. he,s good enough to give Allaho a race around Kempton
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
October 29, 2022 at 16:04 #1620856I still have my doubts about GDC seeing out the Gold Cup trip especially with his run style, could make him a sitting duck – Mullins seems ironclad in his belief that he will stay no problem but I could see him being in the mould of those top class 3m horses that just found the GC trip beyond them i.e. Pendil, Wayward Lad, Florida Pearl & One Man etc
October 29, 2022 at 16:05 #1620857Nichols post-race interview on ITV says King George is, and always, has been the aim.
He was v doubtful that Bravemansgame will go to Cheltenham, as he thinks it is not his type of track. An Irish ‘raid’ more likely.October 29, 2022 at 16:06 #1620858“I still have my doubts about GDC seeing out the Gold Cup trip especially with his run style, could make him a sitting duck”.
They may reign him back a bit this year so that he doesn’t go off Allaho style.
October 29, 2022 at 16:10 #1620859He’s still young so might not apricate being reigned in
Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
October 29, 2022 at 16:12 #1620861Not sure the jockey has a lot of say in the matter but he might become more tractable with age – will never happen but just imagine him and Allaho going toe to toe in the Ryanair….now that would be some spectacle.
October 29, 2022 at 16:20 #1620864First three home today have more or less run to their OR – if it’s a career best by the winner it’s by about a pound for me.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"October 29, 2022 at 16:30 #1620867Eldorado is a good yardstick , esp as he has form fresh
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
October 29, 2022 at 16:31 #1620868Superb jumper, but the bare form is modest. BMG in the winter, Ahoy Senor in the spring, obs
October 29, 2022 at 16:58 #1620870Very happy with that
Now to hope allaho isn’t declared in the clonmel oil chase, if he is He’s going to kempton
He is a superb economical jumper
We still have no answer of what he finds off the bridle, I suspect its not a great deal
He’s one in a hack canter all his races before March and April when he completely loses form
October 29, 2022 at 21:39 #1620887Nicholls has convinced himself and his owners to avoid Cheltenham especially the festival. Apart from the foxhunters he doesn’t bother running his horses at the meeting. No way BMG turns up in the gold cup.
October 29, 2022 at 21:47 #1620888That’s not really true
If they are good enough to win he will run them, BMG was going to run until the deluge
He thinks they’ll win he runs them, if he doesn’t think they will win he’s not so obsessed by Cheltenham that he’d rather come 4th there than win at aintree
I’d say that’s good race planning and placing of horses
Would gelino bello have won the Albert bartlett? Not a chance
Did he win his owners a nice pot at aintree? Yes he did
Cheltenham is the best 4 days racing of the year in either code but the national hunt season is too Cheltenham centric
October 30, 2022 at 00:41 #1620895BMG was on a roll as a novice hurdler going into the Festival that year but then got comprehensibly put in his place by Bob Olinger and then went on to Aintree only to be on the receiving end of a lesser beating from Ahoy Senor.
Last season they got on another even more impressive roll but decided to side step the Festival altogether and went straight to Aintree with a fresh horse only to be given even more of the treatment by Ahoy Senor (reversing earlier pre-spring running).
He has shown so far that he can’t reproduce his winter form in the spring, maybe they could go straight to Punchestown from the Denman Chase but until he proves he can do it from March onwards I couldn’t have him – his season realistically could end with the Denman Chase in February.
October 30, 2022 at 04:33 #1620904“… if he is He’s going to kempton”
Ruby Walsh was in the Racing TV studio yesterday and said that, to the best of his knowledge, the King George is definitely on Allaho’s agenda.
October 30, 2022 at 05:23 #1620907Though it was far and away the best time of the day (possibly suggesting Paint Your Dream and Ahoy Senor cut each other’s throats a bit) by no stretch of the imagination can this be King George form.
Anyone who thinks it is must think the runner up and third, who is rising 11, must have run career bests, along with the winner, and be capable of making the frame at Kempton Park themselves.
The 1-2-3 have all run to their ORs.
Paul Nicholls says Bravemansgame is as good as See More Business, Silviniaco Conti and Cyrname – I will believe that when I see it and I didn’t see form on that level yesterday.
His best hope of winning the King George would be if Allaho doesn’t show up and the race cuts up.
