    Entries…

Looks stronger this year, and hopefully see Ahoy Senor take on Bravemansgame.

Highly unlikely I’ll have a bet, but even though I’m not keen on betting him first time out, I’ll probably have sentimental money on Dashel Drasher.

One to sit out at the moment though

    Pre Christmas BMG probably wins

But at the price eldorado Allen looks the value

He won at Aintree then ran a better in the Ryanair, the only horse to actually try and race the mighty allaho

Will wait till the day to decide how to play

If I can get 9/4+ on BMG on the day il be tempted

I can see people wanting to take him on after he flopped again in the spring

“He goes a bit light on you after Christmas so we have got to try keep him big and well into the spring.”

But Nicholls essentially told us why he doesn’t hold his form into March and April in his stable tour

Ahoy Senor won a Point-to-Point at Kimble and I have always followed his career with interest.

I actually think he’s the likeliest winner – he seems to be best on a flat left-handed track as wins over fences at Newbury, here at Wetherby and Aintree attest.

But I just have this slight doubt about whether he’s going to run, whereas Bravemansgame seems certain to turn up.

I could be wrong, obviously, but if either gets taken out the one who isn’t will be a big price at current ante-post odds.

“As long as the ground is safe – around good to soft – we will go to Wetherby,” said Russell’s partner and assistant, Peter Scudamore.

“He is in good form and this looks a good starting point for him. He’s come back having summered well and we’re looking forward to it.”

I’m amazed Nicholls is sending Bravemansgame out early for the third successive season after he finished the previous two so tamely

Anyway, Ahoy Senor’s chase form going left handed is better than his

I don’t get the fuss about BMG personally. Aside from beating Ahoy Senor on a track that horse doesn’t seem suited to he’s never turned up and beaten horses of a decent calibre.

They’re both way too short for an AP bet anyway.

Anybody know why Skelton hasn’t sent Shan Blue here? The stable tour he gave to Meghan Nicholls on RTV other day he said he was going there to take care of unfinished business.

“I should also report that Shan Blue’s name won’t be in the entries for the Charlie Hall as he wasn’t quite right at the start of the week. We have done some investigating and he has a deep-seated bruise in his foot that will take a few weeks to clear up, so he should be back around Christmas.”

Win My Wings for the upset here. I’ve taken 18-1 ew, as Bravemansgame just might stroll it

I’m convinced Ahoy Senor is the horse with the biggest engine on this side of the water. The only question is whether him jumping is good enough. It wasn’t at Cheltenham, but it was enough in Aintree. If he can jump like that he should beat Bravemansgame again.

    Ahoy Senor 2/1

Ahoy Senor is two-one up on Bravemansgame if you include hurdles races and two-nil up at left-handed tracks.

I’m not quite sure why he isn’t favourite.

That’s the one thing I thought might be in his favour – Nicholls tends to crack on and have horses fit enough first time out.

Ahoy Senor did win his Point first time out in his second season, but then maybe that wasn’t as big an ask.

I like both the principals long term, but I’ll go with Eldorado Allen here at 5-1

I want to bet Ahoy Senor, but his first spin last term is a worry, and with Bravemansgame a good one to, maybe just one to sit out, but a very good race in store

BMG was arguably over the top both times he lost to ahoy senor

He doesn’t seem to hold his form to march and April

A better horse before that, having backed him for the king george a few weeks ago I hope I’m right

Though it likely won’t matter either way if allaho lines up

Just looked at tomorrows card. We always used to start the season off at Wetherby and it was a great days racing. Why are here so few runners? NTD always had horses running there. Is it he ground conditions? I know there are some classy types running tomorrow: are they just scaring the others off?
