“Last season they got on another even more impressive roll but decided to side step the Festival altogether.”
Only at the very last minute. Bravemansgame was favourite for the Brown Advisory but was withdrawn after another Nicholls horse got lost in the mud in the Ballymore.
October 30, 2022 at 10:21 #1620961It may be good race planning but the question was does BMG turn up in the gold cup.
There hasn’t been much evidence of nicholls running horses at the festival last few seasons.
He doesn’t think he has the horses to compete so he avoids the fez and mops up other races.

He won the RSA in 2019, the Champion Chase in 2020, and he only took Bravemansgame out on the day last year, ditto Thyme White in the Grand Annual.
He still runs horses there IF he thinks they have a chance.

Interestingly the Nichols horse that got lost in the mud, Stage Star, is entered into a 2m4f Novice Chase at Warwick on Tuesday, will be fun to see how it gets on! Only a 4 runner race mind.
October 30, 2022 at 15:23 #1621043Nice prep for Ahoy Senor for the Coral Gold Cup….
October 30, 2022 at 18:11 #1621066He is the best jumper of a fence he has had but while that is a nice advantage to have it takes more than that to win a King George.
The form is frankly average and if the 2nd and 3rd (admirable as they both are) ran in a King George they would be big double figure odds and you would be mightily disapointed if they managed to trouble the places.
To make him (in some places) joint favourite with Allaho for the race is silly but if you look at the horses listed in those market (GDC who I very much doubt will run is 4th favourite after L’Homme Presse), you could be looking at a rather smallish field especially if Allaho does turn up.
