I have taken 20/1 on BENBATL here. He is actually a shorter price in the QEII (16/1) but I think this is the route they will take with the stable star and with a big performance in the Joel Stakes today he could easily end up favourite for this race as it cuts up.
Saeed has won the champion stakes once before but he has a horse on his hands who could emulate the mighty FARHH.I think its worth taking a chance that this is where they go with him next time.
He has 3 1/2 weeks after todays race to recover and be ready. anything that runa in the arc has 12 days to prepare for this race which isnt easily done after a very tough race.Saeed is one of my favourite all time trainers and he can produce him for the big day.
September 27, 2019 at 13:11 #1463118From that list I doubt many will be there. Japan goes straight to the arc as does magical. Deirdre I believe is arc bound as well. The champion isn’t the race it was due to the breeders cup attracting so many potential runners who would have gone to Newmarket in previous years.
September 27, 2019 at 13:24 #1463121Yeah it’s looking disappointing this year at the moment. I think SBS when listing a number of targets after today didn’t mention this one somewhere in quotes
September 27, 2019 at 13:51 #1463123Benbatl has an entry for this race though there are plenty of different options available. I dont think they will go to France though breeders cup meeting is certainly possible. I was interested in this race as Coral are ducking all money on this horse for this race. They go 16/1 but everyone else is 20/1 and they can be well informed on this operation.
I think they may go here then Canada. Then go over to Dubai in March.
A lot will depend on what he does at Newmarket today and I doubt his plan is set in stone. Could end up in QEII.
The timing of this race for me suggests they have champions day on the immdiate agenda as The Joel is the perfect race for a warm up to set him up for a crack at a group 1 at Ascot (hopefully this one).
September 27, 2019 at 14:42 #1463126If we continue to get so much rain and with many at the top of the market unlikely to run addeybb becomes interesting at 12/1
For me hes a proper group 1 horse in the mud in a decent sized field
September 29, 2019 at 11:54 #1463328I would be confident that THE BEAST BENBATL will step up to 10f on Champions day and take this race
If confirmed for the champion stakes then he will surely be odds on for the race no matter the ground conditions and no matter who turns up.
Once the offical handicapper adjusts his rating imminently then we have to be looking at 130+ which officially makes him the worlds best horse. Timeform will surely be looking at close to 140 on their ratings.Zaaki is a rock solid consistent horse who always runs his race and King of Comedy has clearly ran to his rating of 118 with nice improvement from Uae jewel. Even giving them a stone I dont see how they could have stopped THE BIG BULLY and that means this horse simply has to be 130+ OR.
Once timeform and the handicapper confirm this then the 10/1 (mainly 8/1) will be gone in a flash for both this and the 6/1 QEII.10f has always been his trip. Saeed thougt he may run a bit fresh on his first run back after such a long time off hence why his warm up was over 8f at group 2 level.
When THE BEAST is 100% rocking and ready in 3 1/2 weeks time and he steps into group 1 company he will also surely step up to his beloved 10f.
Cracking bet 20/1 on the race Im certain he will go to. Even the 10/1 now is very much worth taking.
Its worth remembering that he won over the champion stakes CD at Royal Ascot where as he was 10/15 over 1m at Ascot when 11/4fav though it wasnt the CD that beat him over the mile, he simply wasnt given enough time to reacclimatise to the uk after being in Dubai and ran flat.
September 30, 2019 at 14:10 #1463412Im slightly concerned that if Ghaiyaath comes out of the arc none the worse for wear then they may target him at the champion stakes in which case you would expect Shiek Mohammad to instruct Saeed to run THE BEAST in the QEII as he can win whichever one he wants to.
The race does come fairly soon after though so Im hoping that they dont decide to do that with Ghaiyyath for obvious reasons.September 30, 2019 at 15:04 #1463415With 13 days between the Arc & this race I am pretty certain that AOB could very well aim Magical (and maybe some others) at both races – Headman at 16s could be interesting especially as he has winning form on good to soft and very soft ground.
Think Benbatl could go QE2 especially if we get soft ground as most of his recent form is on a much quicker surface and a slog in deep ground over 10F will not play to his strengths, you also have to bear in mind this would be only his second run in over a year so there could be a bounce factor to take into account.
October 1, 2019 at 13:34 #1463475THE BEASTS official rating has today been raised from 123 to 126. Just 2lb shy of ENABLES 128.
Add another 10+ on after Ascot.

King Of Comedy and Zaakis ratings remain unaltered and unsurprisingly UAE JEWEL has been raised 4lb to a mark of 112.
I cant say I agree with 126 as a rating if the handicapper is saying the horses behind ran to form or improved which he is. THE BEAST will shake up the world once that handbrake comes off at Ascot.

Ghaiyyath or not, seems they are QE2 bound….is a nice price you’ve got Potato just in case something changes anyway.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!October 1, 2019 at 14:21 #1463477Its not a nice price at all if he is unlikely to run in the race it makes no difference if I got 2/1 or 200/1 if he doesnt go.
It was something I was fully aware may happen however.
If the daily express forecast claim for the wettest october in history is anywhere close to being true then they may decide to go usa/canada or wait for dubai.
If he turns up in the QEII however
ALL OPONNENTS GET BEASTED
October 2, 2019 at 09:55 #1463529Ok Potato…If the price doesn’t matter, then it begs the question why you took the 20/1 since you were fully aware it may happen….

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!October 2, 2019 at 10:19 #1463531I dont understand Jack. Its been announced he isnt running so it now makes no differnece what price I got.
At the time of the bet it was clearly a bet worth taking a chance on at 20/1 as just a few hours later he put up one of the performances of the season.
I dont understand what you dont understand?
October 2, 2019 at 10:39 #1463532Don’t worry Potato

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!October 6, 2019 at 22:25 #1464079After that today, does anyone else fancy Enable to bow out with a Champions Stakes win at Ascot? The race is there for the taking. 6/1 still available. Thoughts?
October 6, 2019 at 22:38 #1464081If she was none the worse for wear in the aftermath of the Arc, I don’t see why not..
Frankie would be up for it no doubt, trainer and owner..???Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
October 6, 2019 at 22:49 #1464085Im hoping Ghaiyyath doesnt come here after his 33 length arc beating.
That may give THE BEAST a chance of being allowed to run here if godolphin have a suitable miler capable of winning the QEII to take The Beasts place.
The Beast would end Enables career in shame as she would take the beating of her life. However thats all pie in the sky as surely Enable wont race again and at present The Beast is QEII bound though still half a chance of the switch to this race.
