That was a fairly bad splinter injury eh? Out for the season now

Sounds a lot more serious than was thought yesterday, he will be having an operation to
remove the piece of wood. Apparantly it has gone througth the top of the coronet band
and right underneath the hoof. It’s no wonder the poor boy couldn’t up his game after
the last, it must have been very sore. Henderson said “it’s very serious and I hope it’s
not career threatening”, but as Ham has said, he looks to be out for the season.

Its not a race that you’d want a disrupted prep for
Henderson did do it with Binocular years ago but this sounds a lot worse

Honeysuckle and BDD, with all the injuries and lack of a standout i think either of these would win this if BVD didnt turn up 100%

They have to aim Honeysuckle for this now. Doubt BVD will turn up and cannot see him giving away the weight to either Honeysuckle or Benie Des Dieux even if he did.

Saldier not entered for Leopardstown at Xmas. Something wrong there. I’d say. Even if WPM wanted to head to Kempton with him to take advantage of the BD injury, he’d still give Saldier the option of Leopardstown.

“I’d say it’s 95 per cent she’ll go for the Mares’ Hurdle, obviously there’s a little idea in the background saying ‘what about the Champion Hurdle?’ so that’s the five per cent, but I’d be virtually positive she’ll go for the Mares’.

“Kenny’s whole idea is to build a nice breeding operation tilted towards racemares and broodmares, which is why he’d love to win the Mares’ Hurdle.”

I’ve decided to make a profit at this stage on my pair, and I’d like to bet another nearer the time, as I think that there’ll definitely be plenty to change yet.

Something has to come out of the pack. I still like Sharjah and Felix Desjy (weak in market), while Epatante is really interesting.

Happy to go green right now.

Fantastic position to be in VTC and well done.

Although I think there may still be some more to come from fussil raffles especially as BD won’t be running in the Christmas hurdle. Fussil could well win that and be near fav for the CH

    Thanks Jaso.

I think you’re spot on with that, Christmas Hurdle looks the obvious call, and I hope he runs better than at Wincanton.

I’ve only laid back my Stakes on the pair of them, so with Honeysuckle likely to go Mares, Fusil is still my main hope here.

Added Pentland Hills 7-1 in case he performs today.

Not sure why you’d cash that out lad to be honest.
    First run of the season
Pulled Nico’s arms out even up to the point of turning into the home straight! No wonder it didn’t finish off the race
Hit the lead jumping the last still pulling a cart. Just got tired from early exertions.
They went no pace early which is unusual for a graded race.
Strongly run race he will settle next time and for me if he ran against any of that lot next time out he would beat them all comfortably.
This is a very weak renewal of champion hurdle and for me pentland looks for me as good as anything at the minute even after losing today. He’s the horse I would take from that race.

I am on Fusil Raffles 50-1 already. And PH is bigger than 7s now so we will see.

Agreed jaso that’s exactly how I reacted to pentland hills run

I’d need to see the improvement second run though before backing him for this ante post

“I would not be in any way disappointed with Pentland Hills and I thought he ran a good race. He shaped like the best horse in the race, but has got burly so will come on a lot for that.

“The Christmas Hurdle at Kempton will be interesting as we have Fusil Raffles for that, Verdana Blue if the ground is quick and maybe even Epatante.

“You’ve lost your number-one gun in Buveur, but it’s nice to have back-ups. Well, they’re not back-ups – they are better than that in a mixed division and there are opportunities for something to burst through, like Call Me Lord has, but I wouldn’t underestimate Pentland Hills.”
