Thats the thing TAPK, on good ground he probably would get done as form figures show but he must be a major player now if we dont have the greatest ground come March, that was a brilliant run today and with Medermit pretty close it shows how great a Greatwood it was this year (NPI).
Celestial Halo imo has a habit throwing in under par performances which doesnt really happen at Cheltenham but today he was beat fair and sqaure imo but he can do better.
If I were Zaynar’s owners I would demand no puss footing around from Henderson and if he has to face his stablemates so be it, he scared the opposition off and made some lazy mistakes and showed a bit of laziness in running with Geraghty having to remind him where he was but he has won again. He throughly deserves a crack at top opposition. I have him at 12’s but I cant be backing him at 4’s when Henderson seems so intent keeping his horses apart and keeping his owners happy.

Khyber Kim was seriously impressive this afternoon – as Paddy Prennan said, he was playing with Celestial Halo coming to the last – but Punjabi is certainly the one to take out of the race. There has to be a worry, given his previous inconsistency, that the winner has peaked three months early, but there was no mistaking how well the reigning champion was travelling before blowing out.
Solwhit at 7/1, Punjabi at 16/1 and Starluck at 33/1 stand out at this stage.
December 13, 2009 at 00:27 #263622Anyone betting on who’ll be favourite by New Year’s Day!
The Champion Hurdle market is crying out for someone to lay down a marker in the two races over Christmas. I’m hoping Hurricane Fly can come back to his best at Leopardstown. Every chance Ruby will ride him now with Celestial Halo slightly disappointing considering how well backed he was.

I think at this rate, come March we will see 3 joint favs for the race! Hurricane fly being one of them! Celestial Halo will defineately be single figures on the day though!
December 14, 2009 at 18:03 #263846Hello,new on here but i think Zaynar is the one who will enjoy the strong pace and has the stamina to burn the others away,If he continues to learn and jump quick then i can see him winning impressive. The form with Walkon has been the best piece to me.He will be the Favourite.
December 15, 2009 at 12:32 #263943Interestingly ( or bemusingly, if that is how you view things ), Paddy Power has marked up Dunguib @ 4/1 "with a run."
I think Mr. Fenton is watching with a keen and canny eye from the hillside to see how things unfold over the next couple of months.
Gambling Only Pays When You're Winning
December 16, 2009 at 18:19 #264136the picture is too confused at present for any serious punting. Huuricane Fly and Binocular were ahead of the pack at the start of the year; they got turned over. Celestial Halo and Solwhit made impressive debuts; then they got turned over. Zaynar and Dunguib haven’t been tested at top level yet. Go Native has only one major piece of form, impressive though it was.
I’ll be waiting till the Christmas and December hurdles before forming an opinion.December 18, 2009 at 07:45 #264337Given the confusing current picture and that their isn’t really a stand out. I have been looking further down the AP list for some value and the standouts look to be –
Bahrain Storm 50/1 Bet 365, Paddy Power
Not sure when he is due out but seems to have a similar profile to 95 winner Alderbrook?
Quevega 66/1 Sporting Bet
The odds available on Quevega look particularly generous given his proven stamina and course form. I realise she has suffered a setback but Willie Mullins seems confident she will make it and may even have a prep run the end of Jan/early Feb. I realise she is fairly short for a repeat of the mares hurdle but my understanding is he would like to run her in the CH?
What do you think? Worth a few quid at 66’s?
December 21, 2009 at 10:59 #264756As someone who’s taken 14’s then YES she is worth a few quid at 66’s for sure Petercreek if only on the basis that she’ll surely run in the Champion if something happens to The Hurricane between now and March. Haven’t heard anything about a prep run in Jan but if she were to have one and still qualifies I’d guess the race she won at Punchestown last year would be high up on the agenda.

FFS IS!
December 22, 2009 at 22:43 #265014I am backing Sublimity now that the fly is out
What chance would you guys give him
December 24, 2009 at 19:52 #265386Another Zaynar fan the BIG issue I have is the pace of this race, there is no Osana and I am struggling to find one to set the race up for Zaynar & co which is a must imo, I doubt DP will be kind enough to enter Ashkazar? ,Celestial Halo may have to force it but I would be happier if NH ran a pace setter – has that been done before?
December 25, 2009 at 11:52 #265442Noel Meade talking about Go Native, along with the rest of his big guns over Christmas!
December 29, 2009 at 19:25 #266295Things are a bit clearer now; Go Native, Solwhit, KYber King, and Zaynar. Zaynar reminds me a bit too much of Detroit City, and may not have the speed, but the other 3 make the choice hard. Solwhit looks a rugged competititor, the other two much more classy. Gun to my head, I’d choose Go Native.
December 29, 2009 at 21:15 #266314When TAPK says a horse has No chance, they inevitably lose!Big statement i know,it takes years of knowledge to make such comments, but take it from me Solwhit wont win the Champion hurdle!I wouldn"t dare say the same about Go Native though!
December 29, 2009 at 21:42 #266318TAPK tell me why you think Solwhit has no chance, because I believe he will be thereabouts and so am interested in seeing your reasons.

thm, because its you,i will give you the benefit of my knowledge
accumulated over 25yrs of studying horses! Solwhit does not have the confirmation of a Champion hurdle winner,he is long bodied and almost weak to the eye,he lacks scope due to his physical inadaquacies,he defineately prefers plenty cut,he would be a Champion if the race was run over 21/2m but its not,so something with "toe" will always have too much speed for him on goodish ground,he has never been near Cheltenham, but he has beat the Champion hurdler Punjabi,in a very stop start race imo on ground Punjabi would have hated! His victory at Aintree proved this horse has plenty of stamina but i cant see it being anywhere near soft enough to blunt the speedier sorts come March!Solwhit is the new Champion hurdle fav,but what do i know! Give him another year and he may have filled out,if he does he would make an Arkle sort,i like his jumping ability! -
