There’s only one entry in this years race with a real turn of foot ….Voler La Vadette…. and she’s unlikey to run. I feel Solwhit will wear then down up the hill coming off a strong pace
February 17, 2010 at 19:57 #277467its not just the turn of foot but the very high cruising speed

Only to the eye!Come the day, Binocular will be the horse that gets backed for the race,i can still see him going off favourite!!Big words from TAPK i know!Last year he was my lay of the meeting at 6/4,and very nearly cost me,what with the hill and that, but this year i am absolutely 100% convinced he is being laid out for the race, that is his one and only target!Like i keep saying last years race was top class and the winner will come from it!
Celestial Halo
.THE FORMS ROCK SOLID!
In a way i am relieved Binocular is out of the Champion picture as i have said all year, the real Binocular hasn"t been sighted yet,i was convinced Nicky was saving a bit for the big day,it turns out its Binocular himself thats been saving a bit!
At least its reasuring that i could see something was amiss! Those that thought he just wasn"t good enough will eat their words whenCelestial Halo
pays Binny the ultimate compliment by winning the Champion hurdle!
16/1 is too big!February 18, 2010 at 07:41 #277526What is Nicky Henderson playing at with Zaynar’s preparation? He is sending the horse to Kelso which is the best part of an 800 mile round trip with the horse spending around 15 hours in the horsebox for a race that may be called off due to the state of the ground.

He’s also picking up a cool 10k for what is no more than an exercise gallop.
As I recall, the race was more or less arranged specifically for that purpose.February 18, 2010 at 09:16 #277532Although this should be a penalty kick for Zabyar it’s worth noting that, a few weeks ago,Paul Carberry was riding for the Howard Johnston stable for a few days, on the Saturday JHJ had Tidal Bay in The Cleeve Hurdle (Won) and Quwetwo at Doncaster (Meeting eventually abandoned) Of the two, Carberry chose to ride Quwetwo who runs against Zanyar today. Interesting?

February 18, 2010 at 09:31 #277534After Binocular was withdrawn from The CH Philip Fenton was quoted as saying
"We need a couple for to come out before Dunguib runs but we’re leaving our options open"
I’ve saoid all along he’d miss the novice races and I’ve been 95% certain he’d go for The Champion THIS year, I can’t see the point in waiting personally?
Golden Cygnet would have won the CH in 1978 without coming off the bit, check the times, distances etc
February 18, 2010 at 09:42 #277535I’d personally run Dunguib, if they wait until next year to try the Champion Hurdle then he will be an 8 year old which isn’t a Spring chicken by any stretch of the imagination.
February 18, 2010 at 09:44 #277536Chelts, interesting perhaps but i’m of the opinion Paul would have chosen Tidal bay over Quwetwo had the latter been contesting a race aginst Zaynar.
Ref Dunguib, Fenton noted ‘we need one or two to come out’ – Do you think he was seeing Binny as a chief threat? To be fair the only ppl holding up binnys price were on TRF claiming more ‘value’ was to be had now the horse was showing poor form.
In fact I can think of one poster in particular that would probably state that Binoculars withdrawal from the race would only serve to inflate his price larger still, that the horse was even better value and that Nicky would be certain to win the big one with him now as he has only the CH in mind……
Dunguib is certainly not a young horse but he needs to learn his trade amongst the hectic pace and large fields of Cheltenham before he tackles the CH. His jumping errors and whatever may cause them will certainly need to be addressed in order to handle the leading contenders in the CH sphere.

I can’t agrue with you on that! Interesting though Quwetwo nust have been going some at home nevertheless, worth an EW?

At 1.3 for the place on betfair in a 4 runner affair I would suggest most definitely not worth an EW! Watch the bookies trim Zaynar for the CH after a facile win while 1/10 on….

You can stick your 1-3 Betafir that ludicrous
He’s 10-1 with Bet365 1ptEW returns 3.5 Pts for 2 pts investment if he’s placed and there’s always the "Denman" factor, not EVERY massive odds on chance wins, as well as approx 8/11 for the place there’s afree win bet thrown inI’m not saying I’ll be backing him, just drawing attention to the value
February 18, 2010 at 10:35 #277549HOLD ALL BETS, there’s been a withdrawl, no EW…NO BET

You seem very keen to point out that the fighting fifth was a 4 furlong sprint. Well Go Native came from last to first in that 4 furlong sprint, easily going past Sublimity, Solwhit and Binocular who are hardly slow horses. I’d call that a real turn of foot wouldn’t you?
