Remember Sprinter was getting weight at Cheltenham and the Kempton form just simply isn’t good enough – the ground is a big plus though but physically I don’t think he is capable of being anywhere close to the horse he was.

I think too much is being made of the pace angle that UDS will be softened up by Special Tiara for a hold up horse to pick up the pieces – my big concern for UDS is not his jumping but the drying ground.

Outside of UDS, I have taken a little bit of the 14s on offer for Dodging Bullets as he always improves massively from his 1st run to 2nd and given the delayed start to his season that improvement should be a lot bigger this time around, the drying ground will also be to his advantage.

Fabulous. Unquestionably the result of the week, whether or not you backed him.

Fantastic :rose: , congrats to the supporters. I hope they retire him now, Sprinter Sacre deserves a happy life in the paddocks, and has earned his keep for the rest of his hopefully long life.

That’s the moment of the Festival.
He’s won other races this season, but this was something else.
    Love Sprinter Sacre.

    Magnificent! :yahoo:

Who says horses enjoy their life more in the paddocks?

    GingerT, I do :good:
They do not break legs under the rule of a jockey, in the paddock. For one thing.

I’ve never been a fully paid up member of the SS appreciation society but I’m in bits watching that. Just what racing needed after what has been a torrid week thus far.

Doesn’t mean they’re “happier” though does it. Besides…
In fields, horses often get fatal injuries from their pals kicking out.

Ruby was going as fast as he could. The horse is at his best dominating on soft ground and just didn’t get his going today. Un De Sceaux only barely grabbed second on the nod and you would have got good odds on that margin over Special Tiara at flag fall.

The jockey has to balance between forcing the pace and careering out of control. Had it been soft, I think we would have seen a different result today but it was written fairly prominently last night that there were big concerns for Un De Sceaux on the prevailing faster ground. That’s just bad luck if you were on ante-post but punters taking odds-on today in full knowledge of surface conditions have only themselves to blame and certainly not the jockey.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Great to see SS back, but agree Ruby could have been more forceful a long way out; 2nd + 3rd were closing towards the line, and even allowing for the ground, I think UDS should be finishing much further ahead than S tiara.
fantastic result tho, so goos to see the Black Aeroplane taking wings again. AP + SS, is this the best cheltenham ever?

I didn’t back Un De Sceaux but it was pretty much a given that Walsh would blame the ground for the defeat. The other possible explanation is that the Walsh handbrake tactics have actually succeeded in taking the edge off him. I don’t believe that Special Tiara would have led the original version of Un De Sceaux, whatever the ground.
