Although she’s no certainty Chantelle is entitled to be 1/2 or thereabouts and EC is absolutely correct when he states that it’s the best value even money shot you’ll see all year.
January 20, 2006 at 14:09 #96897Another riveting hour of TV last night ! I would never trust someone who thinks Dundee is in South Wales with my money at evens, EC !
I totally disagree with Galloway and his anti-war "communion" on appeasing Saddam but I couldn’t help but sympathise with him last night. His trust more than any of the other contestants was betrayed by Big Brothers’s decision to relay his eviction choices to his housemates. He was visibly incensed as this device went far beyond a prank and I would guess that he would have walked out if he was sure he wasn’t breaking his contract. He must have felt for the first time like an Iraqi prisoner under Saddam:biggrin: It was like something a nine year old would have dreamed up after discovering for the first time what mental cruelty was. I should know as I was the victim of something similar around that age  I cant see C4 ever again finding a mature "serious" person to take part in the show.
Michael Barrymore would be my fun outside bet but he just would need to desist from his alienating control-freak epsisodes.
January 26, 2006 at 19:44 #96901Peaty Sandy is right – it’s complete and utter sh*t*.
Why do so many people (some of whom must have a few brain cells) spend (no, not spend – that should be "waste" ) so much of their life watching this. Are we a race of inadequate voyeurs?
I noticed George Galloway was on "Richard and Judy" tonight. (My wife had it on – honest!). I just couldn’t believe that such a puerile load of bilge as this was analysed and dissected to such a degree. It so bloody meaningless. Who cares what the toss**rs on this do or say? How can it improve anyone’s lot by one iota?
But there again every day I meet people who read The Daily Mirror and listen to rap "music", so I shouldn’t be too surprised that people tend to to avoid enhancing their lives.
The popularity of programmes such as this is another sign of how degenerate and stupid a society we have become. I despair.
January 26, 2006 at 23:21 #96903people can watch what they like but it is s**t
e wether it be for betting (which I think is sad anyway) or not!I’m surprised though by the thousands that take an interest in watching and betting on big brother, there’s got to be something better to do?
:banghead:
January 27, 2006 at 19:46 #96905EC – you don’t have to watch anything high brow to knock big-brother. I suppose there’s a place for all sorts of entertainment – I’m just aghast that this particular programme is so popular.
I will quite readily own up to being out-of-touch with what’s popular nowadays.
As you asked what the BB knockers watch, I’ll answer. I don’t watch much television at all. If anything it’s mostly football. I spend most of my spare time reading and listening to music – oh – and on the internet: all pastimes which might bore the pants off plenty of others.
January 27, 2006 at 23:52 #96910The attraction of big brother, celebrity of otherwise, is that it provides a mirror through which we can examine our own selves.
The nature of the 24 hour, around the clock, warts and all character examination is that exposes the more fundamental aspects of our collective nature and this is something the majority find fascinating.
And, what’s more, it is a betting goldmine.
EC rightly highlighted Chantelle as the best even money shot of the year and he was proved spectacularly correct.
January 28, 2006 at 17:16 #96912I’d say, EC, you were shaking just a little about your 1/1 money shot last night when Preston was voted out fourth. You were proved right in the end with the public voting for eye-candy over entertainment.
I enjoyed the one hour of canned highlights each evening. Anything that can make your belly laugh has to be good so thank you Michael Barrymore, Pete Burns and Maggot. The sight of a left-wing maverick losing all his political capital in often hysterical circumstances added even greater value.
There’s precious little that makes me laugh on TV these days. Perhaps some of those who have slated the show could recommend some other tv slot that guarantees a laugh.

December 29, 2006 at 19:04 #96914Retrospective tonight 9pm. It might just be the highlight of my Xmas viewing :cheesy:
December 29, 2006 at 20:01 #96915…and mine ! got a little tipple at the ready Zilzal? I’ll be enjoying a nice cuppa tea meself.
January 9, 2007 at 16:33 #96916Shame that Donny and Ken have walked-Best two in there.
I’ve had a few quid on ‘The Face’ and laid any other.
January 9, 2007 at 18:29 #96919Shame about Ken especially. That scene in the diary room with him surrounded by his ‘bitches’ demanding a nappy will be a highlight of this year’s show. Not enough class curmudgeons on TV these days!
January 12, 2007 at 20:30 #96920Another one walked today-going to watch it now to see if any ‘celebs’ are left. :o
January 5, 2008 at 13:34 #6161Unashamedly, I enjoy all this Big Brother malarkey. A different format this time but interesting nonetheless.
A fairly evenly matched bunch. Quite like Latoya among the women, she seems friendly enough without being up herself, and Jeremy, Nathan and Anthony among the fellas.
Liam I want to push his hair off his face, and I’m having nightmares about fat John, the Scotch politician. I keep seeing his face in my dreams waking up next to me…..
I did enjoy Matt Lucas’s send up though
don’t suppose anyone on here is watching but thought I’d give it a go
January 5, 2008 at 14:51 #133497I have to confess to watching the first one
Matt Lucas was very funny. As for dreaming about the fat politician and waking up next to him…. My god, you poor person
Best you look at a picture of Brad Pitt or someone before you turn the light off!!

..what a good idea!..I enjoyed tonights highlights. Calista has grown on me after that song ‘Fanny Hill’ on her
piano
…I thought that was brilliant..presumably male viewers will be watching Emila closely – such a contortionist…my word the positions she can get into
Viktor’s not bad either, apart from the squeaky voice.I think Jay or Jade out first.
January 8, 2008 at 16:18 #134087The ubiquitous John McCririck is Celebrity Hijacker tomorrow [Wed]…
this I must see.
January 8, 2008 at 16:55 #134093Nobody, himself included, is likely to want for Diet Coke and cigars.
