Willie has had an awful lot of injuries this year

    Must be 10 by now

No sign of classic getaway either

With James du berlais showing plenty of speed on chase debut GDM may end up here after all

If there’s dig in the ground gerri colombe could be the best of them

They got Ramillies as well. If GDM ends up here and, say, Ramillies in the NH Chase, Mullins may end up empty handed. Whereas if GDC goes NH Chase I think Mullins will have a winner. And we know he likes to have the wins on the board ;o)

He looks like a proper staying chaser to me ham

Could be one for the gold cup going forward

Hopefully, he’s not completely ground dependant and just needs a stamina test

When is De Bromhead going to run Journey With Me over the right distance? Preferably here.

Added Ramillies here 34’s. Hoping he goes NH Chase, but needed a bit of cover just in case. I’d have preferred NRNB, but the 10’s not for me

    Ramillies 34’s

Mullins seemed to be leaning towards this race with Sir Gerhard.

He only had one to beat today and he also made a bad mistake. However, he got the job done in the end.

He was 10/1 with Ladbrokes and I am happy to take a chance on that in what looks an open race. If he does line up, I doubt a Mullins trained dual festival winner will be allowed to go off at a double figure price.

He had nothing to beat really though did he Cas!

He did all his best work at the end which is why he’s probably going to end up here. But you couldn’t say it was impressive and I’d be amazed if there weren’t at least 2 or 3 better than him come raceday.

Not a race I’ve taken a long look at but Thyme hill is the right favourite to my eyes.

Besides that terrible mistake at the 3rd (the last a circuit later), he had a tendency to hang to his left, which isn’t that much of a problem on a left-handed track. Though he clearly has an engine, he badly needs to brush up his jumping, which was very mediocre and nowhere near the required standard to become a G1 winner.

2 miles to 3 miles after just 1 chase run? Is that likely when they sit down to discuss who goes where?

2 1/2 has to be strong favourite, but at the same time, he’s an 8yo, very late out and they might just fit him in where they can. Given they’ve the least ammo for the 3m they may chance him there and then they’ll know where they stand in terms of if he has the stamina for a go at the big one next year as a 9yo. That’s the problem with these horses wasting a season in bumpers.

I was sickened when Classic Getaway went MIA (Should’ve known better than to back the fragile beast). So next 50-1 ew going on the likeable big Bronn who runs today. Probably a year too young, big an inexperienced to win the BANC but anyway worth an ew at the prices.

Keeping everything crossed Gerri’s shins are ok for Cheltenham.

4/1 still looks a good price on gerri

Expecting him to improve a good bit for the extra trip

He’s a proper staying chaser, winning 2 2m4f grade 1s suggests he could be a good one and may be a gold cup contender next season

Skybet’s 9/1 to 4 places makes Thyme Hill cracking EW value in the 2.10, The Brown Advisory Chase, where Gerri Colombe will start a short priced favourite. GC was most impressive at Sandown last time, and this trip should see him improve for the test. But connections were unsure until fairly recently whether to run him here at all, calling him ‘a horse for next year’. But his 5/4 price is way out of kilter compared with that of Thyme Hill, a sound stayer who has finished 2nd in a Stayers Hurdle.

Thyme Hill’s festival formline reads 342 (Bumper: Albert Bartlett: Stayers Hurdle): for all Cheltenham runs it reads 23142. He jumped superbly last time to win the Kauto Star at Kempton, goes very well fresh, will like the ground and I’ll be most surprised if he cannot make the first 4.
