I hear what you are saying Aidan but I just feel that BOS is a bit of a specialist soft ground horse who excels on that ground in small fields in races where the race unfolds slowly and he isn’t under pressure on all sides. Nothing wrong with that, and there are plenty good prizes in races of that type and he’s won his share of them.

However, a real champion for me is a horse who can perform on a variety of ground conditions and who can cope with both a tactical race and with an all-out hurly burly of a race such as the Gold Cup. War of Attrition may have limitations also, it’s still early days with him, and as I said either on this thread or elsewhere, I think BOS may be the better horse given his conditions.

However, I wasn’t comparing BOS unfavourably with WOA, as you seem to be suggesting. I was merely pointing out that, despite his obvious ability under certain conditions, BOS falls short of being what I would personally term a real champion by virtue of his apparent failure to be able to replicate his form under a variety of conditions.

I personally would not rate BOS as a real Champion either…don’t think I have ever said that.

It seems a few on here (not yourself) are belittling his wins simply because they are in small fields on an easy surface and given they are the conditions he operates best in I think its a little unfair.

Anyways as I said else where this is WOA’s hour and we should probably be talking about him instead.

I think that Beef of Salmon just has not got the balls for Cheltenham. When he arrives he probably s**ts himself. Could be he remembers his first fall. Could be that just as some horses love the atmosphere and course others have the opposite feelings. Whatever it is probably best they learn from that and nopt try again.

The horse is clearly talented, but as has been expressed before on this thread, only when the race conditions suit.
