and the lay bet was successful too, strange that, it musta been all this talk about Tiger Juice…. it’s a simple but very effective staking plan, I’ll tell you about it tomorrow if I’ve got time….. very busy, I’ve got my daughter here decorating a couple of rooms, I can’t do it myself because my hands are playing up a bit (and I gotta pick the horses for the Dingo)….

Nah, it will never work with Mrs B she has heard it all before.

, g’day mate.
Some say the summer jumping scene is best avoided but you are not one of them by the look of things.
Some say the early months of the flat season is far to unpredictable.
Anyone for Tiddlewinks

I am watching and waiting for you to unleash this staking plan on us, the tension is building, are you ready for the back lash?
Be prepared, once the box is open you cannot get it back in.

May 12, 2011 at 21:50 #355163Tension!!!!…. what tension…. any of my rubbish is proven to level stakes Bully, if I can’t make an average of 10pts a month profit to levels, the system/method get slung out on it’s ear…. all any staking plan will do is to enhance the returns without any great risk…. so all I’ve done is to take a block of selections, in this case 12, and assumed a 2pt win on each at levels, this would mean a 24pt risk….
I just use a more profitable way of utilising those 24pts over 12 bets….. I am staking 111122223333….. but I stake it "Staircase" style, any of the oldies will know that this is my preferred method of staking because it’s low risk and the returns are pretty reasonable….. in this case it would mean that, at the last count, this would have been at +17pts to a 2pt level stakes but using this staking "staircase" style, the profit is at 52pts…..
Different punters prefer different staking and that is their decision, I just choose this method because it’s no great risk and the returns are very satisfying….. if I had 12 losers on the trot (and I get that many times throughout the year), I lose 24pts, if I lost that amount now, I would still be 28pts in profit, but at levels I would be well in deficit….. hope that whets your appetite Billy Un…..

, but then again I have lived a very sheltered life.
I must say that it reads very well and if you have used it for many a year I am sure it is as good as you say.
Thanks for sharing (again).

May 13, 2011 at 18:12 #355287Well, here I go again
MrE
sticking my big hooter into places where perhaps I have no right, or maybe at the very least trying to muddy the waters but I assure you there is no attempt to be controversial, all I ask is your opinion.
My mind has been buzzing today with the concept of your staking plan which I feel not quite at ease with but at the same time applauding the concept if you happen to be a level stakes player.
Of late I have revisited the method of target staking. I am very much in favour of this, simply because the outlay is lower when the risk is greater i.e. Target say £10 requires £5 stake at 2/1 but only £1 stake at 10/1.
Whichever method chosen it will have some critics, never will all the people be pleased all of the time!
But if the staircase method is converted to target staking I wonder if it could work?
The first four bets target say £10
The next four bets target £20
The last four bets target £30
The graduation of 1,2,3 is identical to 10, 20, 30
Without knowing the available prices and projected strike rate make this harder to project when balanced against known stakes but I am very sure you will have an opinion and providing the Tiger Balm has done its job on those old fingers of yours I am confident of a satisfactory answer.
I will suggest a 30% strike rate at 3/1 average as an example but the sample is far too small to have much substance and should these very good percentages be mantained it is more than possible to lose all 12 bets almost 3 times within 100 bets.

May 13, 2011 at 21:48 #355325I hear you Billy and I will answer as best I can…. and I haven’t tried the Tiger stuff yet, but will try to obtain a tin and give it a go….. I get gout every so often and can get tablets for that, but these fingers take some loosening….. I wonder if it was because of anything I did in my younger days??…. I asked Matron the same question when I burst into his office this morning, but I got no satisfactory answer because he was doing exactly the same thing that I wanted to talk to him about…. he couldn’t answer though cos he was still out of breath…..

In reference to your question…. I can’t remember what it was so I’ll have to nip back a have a read…..
Oh yes, OK, let me answer this from my point of view…. and I must admit the same as you, that everybody thinks differently, so what is sauce for the goose might not really be sauce for the gander….. I agree only partially with target staking, for sure it’s a safe bet and that alone should recommend it, but somehow I cannot agree that a price of a selection should govern the amount that you place upon that selection….. a horse at 10/1 may conceivably be a far better bet than the one at 2/1, yet your gonna treat one of them with utter disrespect….. if you think that the 10/1 selection only warrants a £1 stake, what the hell are you picking it for…. I dont expect any of my selections to have only a 1 in 10 chance of winning….. if I select a horse that is 10/1 AND a horse that is 2/1, I expect them both to win, none is better than the other, so they warrant the same stake….. there are a few exceptions, of which I think Dutching is one……
Now to the "staircase"….. the staircase eliminates the annoying task of staking according to price and just plonks the next bet on in the sequence…. that’s easy…. the chances taken are that you might get your win bet on at shortish odds which wouldn’t pull back your deficit, if this should happen you are still going to be betting at the same level for the next bets….. if the price happens to be at medium sized odds you will have recouped your losses and made a profit, you then start the new series….. it makes the cycle of staking easy without the need to get involved until the next days racing…. I’m all for making it easy…..
Whilst I’m typing this, I am just wondering if you’ve really understood the concept…. not intended to be rude Bill, just making sure that you and other members grasp this method of betting…… this is getting long, let me start a new post…..
