Last year, on my first visit to the Westwood in a great many years, I saw Tis Marvellous run out a decisive winner of this race.
I was particularly glad to be there because it was not only a track record, but the first time any racehorse had covered Beverley’s stiff dog-leg 5f in under a minute.
This seemed to escape the racecourse on the day, but I was happy to set them straight about it on social media.
Tis Marvellous has been put in at 5/1 to win it again.
He’s not shown a great deal in two outings this year, and he’s an 8yo now, but he drops from Group 1 to Listed company for this and only a big field and a very high (wide) draw can stop him making another bold bid in my view.

Onto, hopefully get the gaps,Nice betting race atleast
August 23, 2022 at 20:33 #1612369Existent definitely entitled to be on the premises in a Listed contest where ten of the entries have OR of 109-101.
As usual in tight races with decent-sized fields over 5f at Beverley, a low draw will be a significant edge on ground which is Good or quicker.

I made a mess of him in The Chipchase, missing the EW when he was a crazy price, and having stupidly missed the 20’s Antepost, I was also missed the opening 16’s. Managed to nick 12’s though, and hopeful of a big run.
Ainsdale 12’s
August 27, 2022 at 00:18 #1612589The 5/1 Tis Marvellous is long gone and I still think he has a favourite’s chance in this.

What a marvellous horse Tis Marvellous is.
Away smartly as when I was there last year, but stays a stiff 5f so well and none stiffer than Beverley’s.
The Westwood five found out Arecibo close home, but not him.

Was a little worried about the horse on his outside until I realised it was arecibo who finds little to nothing in a battle
Tis marvelous Would be a great horse to own
August 27, 2022 at 15:22 #1612654Ian I hope they look at the Ayr gold cup for Arecibo , he was 7th a few years back , first of the high drawn horses that year when you wanted to be low , I could see him running well again if got the right draw
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
August 28, 2022 at 00:03 #1612694Arecibo is an interesting horse.
He won at 6f and even 6f110yds in France, but he doesn’t find much under pressure and it looked to me like Tis Marvellous just outstayed him – or wanted it more – over Beverley’s stiff 5f today.
He would have been getting 7lb off the length and a quarter winner in a handicap and that suggests to me he is, at best, only a pound or two ahead of his current OR.
In any event, I cannot see him among the Ayr Gold Cup entries.
