I’m all over Viconte Du Noyer for this @ 14’s & 12’s.
I am 100% in agreement with you – backed at 12’s. Rate that Cheltenham form and all of the horses ahead of VDN in the betting are fairly exposed over this trip. I think this will shorten as well
November 29, 2016 at 17:42 #1275001He’s no 12-1 shot Charlie, as you say he will shorten considerably by Sat. Paddy Power would only let me have £43.50 at 14’s, but SkyBet let me have more at 12’s. Just before I posted that above, I posted this in the Sefton thread. I’ve backed both in singles and a win double.
“Valadom in this @ 12-1. He’s pretty certain to line up, in some places he’s only 8-1. A cheeky little £20 win double on Valadom in the Sefton and Viconte Du Noyer @ 12-1 in the Beecher, pays £3,380. Merry Christmas in November ”
Both are still 12’s at Paddy Power and Skybet. It’s worth a little double at those prices. Both will be a lot shorter on Sat.
Good luck Charlie, I had them over with a lovely double on Native River & Otago Trail last week (6’s & 9’s). Two weeks running?
November 29, 2016 at 18:26 #1275006I have followed you on this one Nausered. I confess to not having studied the Sefton anyway near as thoroughly as the Becher but Valadom was on the shortlist and you are clearly a man in good form!! £10 EW double return near enough 2 grand, will likely top up Viconte Du Noyer at 12’s again now. Good luck pal
November 29, 2016 at 20:26 #1275017With the prospect of good ground come Saturday, I’m interested in Ruben Cotter and Saint Are. RC has been raced sparingly over the last few years and is off the same mark as when a creditable 5th in the Topham last year. He jumped well in the main that day and looked like he may stay the extra distance when staying on (he did win over 3m 2f as a novice). He appreciates faster going and could be a threat provided he goes for this race. SA is a standing dish now around Aintree and although may be a tad high in the weights still he will definitely like the good ground. He’s had two pipe openers in warm Veterans chases and has all the right credentials for me provided he can cut out the jumping mistakes.
November 29, 2016 at 20:30 #1275018The Tizzard bandwagon could easily roll on again on Saturday with VdN, but you have to go back 12 years since the last 7 yo won (Silver Birch), and only a total of two have won since 1992! Although most editions are run on softer ground which may suit the older horses, you definitely need a deal of experience to win a race of this nature so I will leaning towards the +9 yo guard personally…

I really like Ruben cotter as well joliff but I am hoping that he goes for the Grand Sefton as I like him a little bit more for that race.
I am joining you though with Saint Are and I think he will place at the very least and I am happy to take 16-1
November 30, 2016 at 00:01 #1275040Fabulous write up again Bobby
I expect nothing less from your good self!!
I think you may have backed the wrong Alan King horse though. For me Midnight Prayer is the one of his and at 33/1 is too good a price for me to pass up. My only worry with him is these fences and I do like to back horses in this that have been round here before!! So I have only had a small amount on this one.
The other one I am backing ante post is Gas Line Boy which I think has ran three terrific races in his last three runs and off 136 at 20/1 will run another good race in this!! But yet again he is another with not a lot of experience of these fences having fallen early in Many Clouds National. The third one I will mention but I haven’t backed it yet is Reuben Cotter who has experience round here but I am not sure he will run in this as he has been entered in the Grand Sefton too!! Day of the race bet on that one if turns up.
To me this looks a tougher race than last year when Highland Lodge won!!November 30, 2016 at 00:41 #1275044Thanks Raymo
I’ve got the same worry with Ziga Boy, I just hope he takes to the fences. It’s strange how in The Becher you seem to need a horse who’s been round here, while in The National, it tends to pay to go with a horse who’s never ran over them before. Hopefully at least one of the King horses can win for us, and if it’s to be Midnight Prayer, I will not be shedding any tears………I’ll certainly have an interest
November 30, 2016 at 11:35 #1275063Like the look of Seventh Sky in this.
Good comeback run when giving a stone to Valadom, safe jumper, likes Aintree and yard amongst the winners.Looks a knocking e/w bet at 20’s?
Also entered for the Sefton though so only small money at this stage, although I think they would be mad to go down in trip.
November 30, 2016 at 14:41 #1275085ALVOROADO 10/1 for me as well loves Aintree and these fences think a big run on the cards think he win it

Have played The Young Master at 14s last week and again at 12s.
Also done my favourite horse The Last Samurai at 12s.
Both in singles and double (each way) with Valadom for the Sefton.
Fancy that big prices double
December 1, 2016 at 22:21 #1275249Bloody hell it actually looks like they’re sending Double Ross here after all. I’d usually have reservations after such a hard race the previous week, but they must think he’s in good knick to run him! I’ll take some 20’s now it’s NRNB!
December 2, 2016 at 01:30 #1275260Good luck Peter. I’d written my bet off after his heroics last week, and I’ll be cheering him on through hope, rather than expectation, it’s a big ask for him, but after the last 2, 3 years, he really doesn’t owe me anything.
I know you love this race, don’t know what you think, but as far as I’m concerned it’s the best line up I can recall for it, and looks ultra competitive.
December 2, 2016 at 01:46 #1275263I never did get round to doing the book for this, as wasn’t that much cash kicking about, and there were too many with multiple entries.
Very happy though to see Ziga Boy make it, and hopeful of a good spin, should he take to it.
Slightly surprised that Double Ross is here after The Hennessy, but should give me a bit of interest, as I’d written my bet off after Newbury.
I have sided with another though, and it’s Aachen, for the reasons I gave in previous post. 33’s is just far too big for him, and I’ve went for him win only at the moment. I’ll top up on him each way when the bookies add 5, or even maybe 6 places.
Ziga Boy & Aachen the main fancies then, along with Double Ross, who’s, in reality, got a hard race to recover from, and my “system” bet, Midnight Prayer. That’s more than enough interest for this race, which as I said to Peter, is easily the best line up I can remember for this.

December 2, 2016 at 07:42 #1275266It’s an absolute screamer, Bobby. So glad to see this race pick up again after some lean times it’s had over the years. I believe 24 is the new record for field size as well so here’s hoping they all turn up! It’s just as well I’m going to see it in person with the old man!
It’s Portrait King and Double Ross for a bit of fun for me and maybe a small thing on Saint Are and Aachen.
Can’t wait!
December 2, 2016 at 11:37 #1275282last years 1st and 2nd for me , HIGHLAND LODGE and DARE TO ENDEAVOUR. HL won this from 7lb out of the handicap beating DTE by 2 lengths , DTE is 4 lb better off so should be close between them. Additionally his trainer states this race is its primary target this season whereas most will have bigger fish to fry . Good luck to all.
December 2, 2016 at 20:42 #1275355Portrait King is my first selection here. 25s ew Coral 6 places
