Get in there Rich! We knows y’know.

Fantastic to see the old boy Hello Bud win. I here it could’ve been his last race at 14. Deserved that, highly unusual for one that old to win a big race like this, however, still being described as "improving" at the age of 11, winning the Scottish National. Great leaper, reserving best for Aintree of late. Despite going best over the last, still didn’t think he’d hold on up the run-in today. My pocket willing him on, heart even more so. Never finds a great deal off the bridle and this no exception. That’s not to say Hello Bud is temperamental, just one who gives his all without the need for an "encourager".

Thank you Bud, Twister, Master Twister and all at Grange Hill.

To coin a well used phrase he is what jump racing is all about; I watched the race today and focussed on him, not expecting him to win but just to delight once again in his superb fencing which is a thing of beauty. Seeing him win was a bonus. All round one of the best days racing I can remember.

Surely this is Ballabriggs prep run before the National? If its a front runner you need, look no further than Hello Bud. Great jumper, good stayer, course winner, only slight issue is the ground. WEN is the one to beat though I think.

Ballabriggs ran a funny sort of race and dropped back a bit after clouting one pretty hard, however, he seemed to be staying on quite promisingly for a little while before being eased as if he had hit a brick wall. If you were to be kind you would probably say he was tenderly handled, whereas a more forceful one of his backers might say he was never really at the races today. I was delighted for Hello Bud, he did me a good turn in the Scottish National amd has been a bit unlucky not to win a couple more big ones in a thoroughly honest and brave career. I hope he gets to hang his shoes up now.

West End Rocker was beat after a few fences, never travelled and was a joke price at 4/1 given his modest record at the track other than the last running of the race.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Brilliant to see Hello Bud defy the years, what jump racing is all about. And a shout to my old friend In Compliance, so many mistakes, yet nearly got there in the end.
