I’m sure Major Dundee is going to be a staple in bigger handicaps in the future, and I think he’s a big player for Newbury next month. Be amazed if he doesn’t price to be considerably better than 132.
He was set to be confident selection, with a nod to Tea Clipper, who caught the eye last time. That was until I seen old Regal Encore in there.
I’d much prefer they retired him if I’m honest, but back here off 136, and the fact they’re persevering with him, means he’ll be the bet
Regal Encore
October 24, 2022 at 16:39 #1619958Our power is one il be following in handicaps this season
Looking at his profile second time up might be the time to catch him though
October 24, 2022 at 16:49 #1619960I actually emailed Anthony Honeyball after Regal Encores 2nd in the Cheltenham bumper and asked him if I should back the horse for the following years supreme. He replied with a fairly vague answer that said something along the lines of “the horse will be better over further”, he saved me money that day and he wasn’t lying!
Thanks Anthony.
October 24, 2022 at 16:49 #1619961Lol. One of your more predictable selections, VTC. 😂
Good luck to the old boy… and Regal Encore.
October 24, 2022 at 17:35 #1619982Tea Clipper, winner of a Larkhill Point-to-Point as a 4yo on his career debut, travelled and jumped beautifully at Chepstow and was only just touched off.
It’s a worry he’s 3lb higher here, back on the same career-high mark as when about 11 lengths fourth in the Ultima.
So hardly thrown in.
But that’s a competitive contest and he’s still only a 7yo.
He looks sure to run and 7/1 might be as big as he ever is for the race.

October 24, 2022 at 23:52 #1620042Lol G, yes, very predictable, but he must still be showing something.
Sensible head has Major Dundee and Tea Clipper fighting this out, but just can’t desert the old boy
October 25, 2022 at 00:02 #1620047FF, I think Our Power has a squeak in the old Hennessy so that second time up thing would be nice…
October 25, 2022 at 10:12 #1620068Is Larkhill closing down?
October 26, 2022 at 16:49 #1620350I can understand the popularity of Major Dundee in the market, but I’ve went with Our Power at 8-1

Chapter and verse on it on my broadcasts in recent weeks, Moehat.
Lease expires 31st December 2023 and the Army refusing to renew it.
The coming 2022-2023 season may see the last seven meetings ever at the Point track that’s as big as the Aintree Grand National circuit.
Champion Chaser Energaume won a 3m Maiden there!

My hope/wish/dream is that he wins this to rapturous applause before being retired on the spot by an emotional Anthony Honeyball. One last Ascot pay day

That is really sad to hear. And I have never even been there.
October 26, 2022 at 18:28 #1620382It is a shame.
45 minutes from me, near Stonehenge, a 2.2 miles, isosceles triangular, right-handed circuit and, though they get literally a mile away at the apex of it, the view on the way back, particularly the cross fence two out, before turning into a single fence home straight and furlong run in, is splendid for spectators.
Usually only circa £10 to £12.50p admission too and they’ve been known to divide and hold up to nine Chases on a card.
As stated a 2m Champion Chaser made his racecourse debut in a 3m Maiden there as a 4yo – and won it!
They hold seven (way more than anywhere else) of the 142 Point fixtures this season and its loss to Pointing would be a body blow of the same proportions as Newmarket closing on the Flat or Cheltenham closing over Jumps.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"October 26, 2022 at 18:45 #1620386It would be a real loss. I might have to try and get there this year by the sound of it.
October 27, 2022 at 17:57 #1620524I think that there’s an outside chance that his horses just might be slightly overbet this season, but I’ll side with Kitty’s Light here. He’s 12-1 right now, and I might just settle for that
October 27, 2022 at 22:28 #1620549Nice to see your still going for Regal Encore VTC! What a encore it would be.
I like Annsam here. He won the Howden Silver Cup here last year, that was a strong race. Only gone up a few pounds for that. He showed decent form after that race (although over hurdles). Still only 7 so I can see him imrpoving again.
Annsam 8/1
