If they start looking for Barry replacements, Brian Hughes, should he want it, would surely be a shoo-in? He’s top class and rides how JP wants his horses ridden.

I wouldn’t look any further than Mark Walsh, who is one of the best (possibly THE best) jockeys riding in Ireland for the past couple of years.
February 17, 2018 at 20:52 #1342836I backed Walsh to get the job last time.
Can’t make up my mind about Hughes. Credit him for his honesty today on Waiting Patiently when he admitted to panicking when he hit the front. Still, he rides with apparent confidence, and has a good seat; maybe just needs a bit more self belief.
February 18, 2018 at 20:18 #1342965Fair shout on Walsh – I had forgotten about him.
February 19, 2018 at 09:46 #1343007Mark Walsh happily settled in Ireland by all accounts, would be unlikely to take the full retainer.
I’m not totally sold on Brian Hughes either – improving but still prone to being a little hesitant, with stinkers on Mount Mews at Aintree and Attaglance (Festival Plate) still fresh in my memory. Stylish yet weaker in a finish than many of the top riders. Recency bias creeping in after his good weekend IMO.
February 23, 2018 at 16:50 #1343604Geraghty in today’s big race at Exeter :
Out the back, wide, pulled up.It’s beyond ridiculous now
February 23, 2018 at 17:42 #1343609I fancied Master Dee in the big race tomorrow until he got jocked up on it. Oh well I will have to watch it win but cannot back anything he rides.
February 24, 2018 at 15:04 #1343811Another pitiful effort aboard sire de berlais at fairyhouse just now, obviously not Barry but a blatant non trier trying to look as if its trying.
February 24, 2018 at 15:48 #1343830Good ride by Barry at Kempton today.
Value Is EverythingFebruary 24, 2018 at 15:56 #1343833I thought it was a fantastic ride. The boy’s got a future.
February 24, 2018 at 15:59 #1343835It was a good ride on a well handicapped, well trained horse
3 wins, 2 seconds when running over 3 miles.
February 24, 2018 at 21:58 #1343875Good ride on a non McManus horse….
February 24, 2018 at 22:01 #1343876Good ride on a non McManus horse….question to all the Geraghty nay sayers….how mnay winners do you think he will have at cheltenham if he is so poor these days? More than you think, especially with all this public schooling leading up to the festival…my money is 4-5 winners….

February 25, 2018 at 09:02 #1343916Even if Geraghty rode 10 winners at Cheltenham, it wouldn’t necessarily prove anything about how good he is nowadays. You can’t be that results-oriented.
If I tip 5 winners from my next 5 tips, am I a confirmed great judge?
If Stoke beat Man City, are they the best team in the league?
Plenty of much more relevant visual and numerical evidence is stacking up against Geraghty over the last 18 months.
February 25, 2018 at 11:14 #1343933You can still keep him for my money. Apart from Beavoir D’Air which I think I could win on I don’t think he will get another winner.
We will see.April 26, 2018 at 23:44 #1352122Will he be in the JP job for much longer ?

Poor poor jockey imo
