Baldoyle went in 1972 and the Phoenix Park track closed in 1990.

It was a real pity that the Park went. I still have fond memories of watching races there as a garsún on days out up to the big smoke.

Found a video of Saddlers Wells winning the Champion Stakes at the Park in 1984.

I was there that day and we were allowed in the infield where the rail bent around and continues while the runners headed for the winning post. After the race you returned to the enclosure.Lester came over in the sixties to ride there in the fifteen hundred quite often.I saw him get beaten on Majority Rule by Irish Chorus in the early sixtys
