    More bleeding squatters.

My early season fancy for this race was

    Tajneed

, after the boss said that he wouldn’t bother with races like the Wokingham on fast ground because he didn’t want to deprive another horse/trainer of the chance. Bleeding embarrassed me last weekend from wrong end of draw with Led, Made All, QUICKENED, Stayed on STRONGLY. 7lbs raise in circumstances seems fair. I think a few horses have won this in the 100s?

I was wrong-footed by this race last year, when my early season fancy was Regal Parade. Didn’t have a bet on him in the Vernons. Erm, as no one else has mentioned Tajneed on this thread, does that mean that he is going for the Vernons as well?

The forecast for the next week for Ayrshire is a wet one so I’ll be concentrating on animals who like to get their toe in.

    Good/soft i reckon bucketnut,now that would suit

    Poets Place

perfectly,my concern now though is,he will have picked up a 6lb penalty for winning the Portland yesterday and that will put him amongst the big boys on a mark of 102,had connections waited for the Ayr Gold Cup then he would have just about been thrown in on bottom weight! If Kevin Ryan juggles his team he could just about get

    Advanced

in too and at 40"s he is way too big for a race he thrives in!

TAPK has met his match! This years Ayr Gold Cup has got 6 potential winners and i cant split them.

    Poets Place

10/1,on Soft ground would be a major player,

    Hawkeyethenoo

at 12/1 has the profile of a typical Ayr gold Cup winner but both these horses are rated 96 and i reckon 97 will be the cut off this year so both could fail to get in.

    Johnny Mudball

will defineately get in off 104 and at 12/1 would be a big player on good ground,

    Victoire de Lyphar

at 14/1 and off a mark of 101 is the horse with more scope than anything and is another on my shortlist along with his stable companion

    Evens and Odds

who off a mark of 104 and also 14/1 would be my place banker. The 6th horse on my shortlist is

    Genki

at 16/1 who runs off 103 and again has the form in the book,to say there are 201 entries,it just shows how tightly framed this famous handicap is when the likes of

    Advanced

, 40/1 a horse who has ran in the last 4 renewals wont get in off 95!

TAPK is still struggling with Europes richest sprint handicap and if the ground does have a bit of cut i can rule out Johnny Mudball, that still leaves me 5 horses who i still maintain anyone of them can win!

    Genki

would be my number 1 choice if pushed,

    Victoire de Lyphar

is only a 3yo and another year under his belt would have helped his cause!

    Evens and Odds

is still a place banker and if Dandy wants him to follow in the footsteps of Regal Parade he has to run a big race! Of course he could protect his handicap mark for a tilt at this next year too just like he did in the Stewards Cup! "Evens" lost this race last year by doing too much early on.He is not handicapped out of this! My 4th place would be

    Hawkeyethenoo

as his form is rock solid! If

    Advanced

scrapes in things could change mind! Its gonna be a cracker! :D

Genki came 11th at last year’s race and looks as if he suffers performance at races with a large number of runners. What do you reckon?

wlively, i have watched last years Ayr Gold cup on many occasions as i have last years Stewards Cup,

    Genki

    won the latter from

    Evens and Odds

.Genki was drawn 17 last year,Steve Drowne was just about the last jockey to go far side (The winning side)and as he made his move from box 17 he was hampered,he got a tow but the move cost him a couple of lengths, bearing in mind the 1st 2 furlongs were run at breakneck speed and both Evens and Odds and Advanced both suffered ultimately for following the speed albeit to maintain a position,Genki"s race was all but over so to finish 11th only beaten 4 lengths was not a bad result! I believe the 2 Steward Cup winners Evens and Odds and Genki are pretty much inseperable and cant see either out of the 1st 4 in this years race!

Having gone through the remaining 173 entries for the Ayr Gold Cup i have to say there is one horse who jumps off the page at me! this horse has given weight to the likes of Evens and Odds and Genki and yet he wont get in the Gold cup,he wont even get in the Silver Cup but he will defineately get in the Bronze Cup!

    Valery Borzov

is thrown in,if he gets genuine soft ground he would be a good thing! Trouble is he just hasn"t shown his old spark since he went to Mr Faheys yard, but at the same time the handicapper has dropped him a ton! I cant believe this fellow has deteriorated that much,he always struck me as a fine imposing progressive sort who when he gets his toe in can run em ragged!

Think you’re going to go skint backing these old northern sprinters as some new kids are on the block, Valery Borzov would need to find 15lbs to win Ayr Bronze Cup and a rocket up his backside, he just doesn’t find anything these days.

All them throws at the dartbort TAPK and you’re still not even close to the winner, I’ll give you another 30 throws and I bet you’d still miss it

I am keeping my mouth closed on this horse but have got on at extraordinary odds.

Clocks ticking Mr W! When are you going to share your Foresight with us?

"The Dandy Nicholls Ayr Gold Cup" will have the Sprint King in a quandary! He will run

    Evens and Odds

    and

    Victoire de Lyphar

for sure but he also has Tajneed,Striking Spirit and Redford as possibles. Tajneed loves soft ground and Ripon and has gone up a full 14lb after winning twice at his favourite course,Striking Spirit loves to hear his feet rattle and is also guaranteed a run.

    Redford

however has come down the handicap and is currently sitting on a mark of 97,which in my opinion is going to be very close to bottom weight,if Dandy rates this fellow as having a very real chance he may have to take one of the other 2 out to ensure a run,Dandy never one for telling you the real time of day will know some of us have set our watches accordingly as Redford certainly is just the sort of horse who will respond to Dandys magic wand! Fascinating race this one! :D

Redford, hmmmmm now that’s an interesting selection.

TAPK, out of your 12 selections do you think you’ll make profit on the day from the race?

I’m no where near the level of TAPK but here’s a tip: Don’t go tilting. Another tip is Victoire De Lyphar, leave Redford aside, he will only break your heart

It’s not a race that I have an interest in but it’s not a box of Milk Tray either!

    Good luck all!
