RP course notes.

DECLAMATION, returning from a break off a career-low mark, was well supported. He got a good early position from his wide draw and, despite racing keenly, took advantage of the steady early gallop by kicking first on the bend. That proved the difference. Regarding the improvement in form, the trainer´s representative stated that the gelding had appreciated the drop in class and had responded well to treatment on his back since his most recent run, and had benefited from a change in his work regime at home which resulted in him being a far more settled horse.

Sovereign Debt, held up further back in the pack than those who surrounded him at the finish, finished strongly on his debut for David Nicholls. He hadn´t run since October 2013 so is fully entitled to come on for this, and he clearly retains his ability. He was runner-up in the Lockinge two years ago, and off this mark he could be of some interest in the Lincoln, for which he´s 33-1 with a few firms.

MIGNOLINO, down in class and making his AW debut after an absence of 181 days, had the blinkers back on. Held up in midfield, he was having to be pushed along turning in, but found a nice turn of foot to run down the second horse around 50yds from the line. Thought good enough to contest the Norfolk Stakes at two, he looks just the type to do well in competitive 3yo handicaps this season back on the grass

RP course notes:
GUNG HO JACK, bidding for a hat-trick and under a penalty for his win over CD two days earlier, had the outside stall to contend with but he was soon able to get across and hold a handy position and, when asked to go and win his race, quickened up nicely. He is at the top of his game, but will have to take on better company now.
