Morning Wombat…. this morning I passed my target for January and am at + 13pts and that’s where I stop, the serious money is in the bank and will remain untouched until Feb 1st when we start again. My betting target is always around 10 to 12 points a month and once reached, I see no reason to risk losing any of it, so it remains safe. I do however, like to withdraw something every month for either a bottle of Welsh Water or a packet of crisps, so the remainder of the month will be “play” money and a lot smaller stakes…. the next 7 days will not be added to or subtracted from the profit already made, it is just spending money, a bonus for all the hard work…

We have hit similar targets MrE but mine has been across two systems and is not at 1pt level stakes as yours maybe. I have employed increased stakes for favoured selections and so perhaps I have cheated to reach where I am at although those posted are as honest as I can be within my limited arithmetic ability.

I hope some here may take further interest in Australia but I will pass the baton to your good self should you nail down and apply a method for the racing across the Atlantic.

Nah Bill, I’ve dropped racing Stateside, by the time I have worked on Aussie racing and then UK races, I’m not getting any time to myself and that was the purpose of passing it all over to my daughter…. far too much work for a doddering old git like me. USA was profitable, but so many meetings and so much work… in the end I just found myself concentrating on the sprint races, but still too much. I finished with a profit of 17pts which is really excellent, but it wasn’t really worth it at the lowly stakes that I was playing…. 4 hours a day for £34 a month, no thanks.
So I decided to just concentrate on Aussie and the UK where I have the utmost confidence in betting with decent size stakes that make the working hours profitable… gotta be honest with yourself sometimes. I see no reason whatsoever, that I should earn less than the minimum wage, after all, I put the hours in…. OK, it’s a hobby as you have said in the past, but it still needs to pay something for the effort. I would NEVER spend 4 hours a day studying, just to lose money or stand still, I might have a car that costs nothing to keep, but I still have to put petrol in it, same applies to my betting….. so USA has bitten the dust. I think that Aussie betting is far more profitable than I ever expected and studying of same is easy…

Domestic AW selections for today – Friday: –

    LET’S GO LUCKY – Lingfield 1.05 @ 9/4 without BOG
DEEDS NOT WORDS – Lingfield 2.15 @ 1.74/1 without BOG
    DREAM MAGIC – Wolverhampton 5.45 @ Evens

I remain confused regarding the BOG ruling. I stopped taking overnight prices having unwittingly and to my cost BOG was not available until the day of the race, so said CORAL.

I have changed my MO to place bets early on the day of the race, taking the best price via Odds-Checker and Boost when possible but have now noticed there are more without BOG than with it.

It may click in later, I do not know but suggest should BOG be a requirement, ensure it is on offer.

Today may be a day for learning. The other day MrE confirmed changes to information he requires from an Australian site.

I have found anomalies regarding BOG.

Now I have found variations of the ground conditions at the Australian venues from two different sites with variations from Soft to Heavy and so I am checking two sites for the dreaded Heavy and if either or suggests it to be a bit muddy I intend to put a line through the meeting.

I was in two minds about betting on a Saturday and still cannot convince myself of the correct thing to do and so for now it remains business as usual: –

    BF -00.3pts

    THE INFLAMER – Forbes (Soft 6) Race 4 @ 11/5 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .WON

    SUPERIUM – R. Randwick (Good 4) Race 9 @ 11/10

SUPERIUM is a HYPED horse and so I will increase my stake by 50%

    CF +00.67pts

Hello Bill, am I to understand that it’s not been a good day for you…. normally it takes me hours to read through all your rabbit, but you’ve been rather subdued of late. Is that wicked Matron having her evil way with you???… I hope not old friend, but I have noticed a slight bandiness in your gait, I hope it settles down soon. Nathan had the same problem late last year after Matron got too excited and lost control, I told him it would help if he rubbed some Deep Heat into the offending area….. did it help???…. no, I don’t think so, but it took his mind off the problem….
He actually ended up running around the kitchen like a headless chicken, I watched him, he was going berserk… I thought there was something wrong with him, but I thought it wise to stay my tongue, you know me Bill, I never say anything out of place. Well, let me tell you (don’t whisper any of this to the other members, Nathan might find it a tad embarrassing), but he was crying and jumping around the kitchen. He opened up the fridge and grabbed a 2 litre pack of ice cream and sat on it…. yeah, yeah, I know, unbelievable aint it….. but I don’t think it worked very well because Nathan then grabbed a bag of frozen sprouts and I saw him shoving the sprouts up and shouting yes, yes, yes….
Now, c’mon Bill, I’ve seen a few things over my many years, but sprout insertion isn’t one of them and I just had to let Nathan know that this kinda thing just isn’t on for a Ward 7 stalwart, but looking back on it, I think that I might have timed my intrusion a bit better because I shouted at him and asked him what the hell he thought he was doing…. I think I frightened him into an involuntary spasm because there was this grunt, a strange mewling sound, then these sprouts hit my leg at an alarming rate of knots…. I think he’s broke my leg….
Keep this to yourself old mate, don’t let any of this crowd know, you know what they are like for p*** taking and I would never cause Nathan any discomfort…. my legs healing up nicely now, but it’s awkward trying to explain to the doctor that you were cripples by a few sprouts…..

Just sat sitting here, miserable as crap because my boiler has packed in and I’m bloody cold…. but how the hell can old Billy the fart not win thread of the year…. it’s bloody funny (in my humble opinion), it’s profitable cuz there’s some good stuff going through…. and you have to look at it from a base point of view, the system section has become the place to be because of Billion, it was dead and is now the “Lazurus Effect”, it’s back from the dead. OK, I will admit, we are probably just “zombies”, but you have to recognise us as being a potential “earner”, or dismiss us entirely. I think it would be a mistake to do the latter…. we talk as clowns, we act as clowns, but keep your eyes on the progress…. just because we refuse to take ourselves seriously, doesn’t mean that we haven’t put the hours in. Nobody wants to make themselves look a nob, win or lose….. these are system selections and we live or die by the results and I think that we are doing better than most…. I know that I am….
I just feel that old Billy has missed out on some accolades that he is due…. to ignore such work is really a kick in the gob and will surely result in the loss of this thread… and possibly both Bill and myself…. this is becoming harder than usual because I have been imbibing in what Billy calls the “Welsh Water”… yep, I have been caught out, but in all honesty guys, this thread is looking the way to regular profits…. no promises, but it is looking strong….

Now come on MrE, why don’t you go to bed like the rest of us once Emerdale has ended. Do you think that nice Fraser Hines will ever come back and just when did it change it’s name from Emerdale Farm?

Anyway I have got my Domestic AW selections for today (Saturday) and I am a bit shocked of how many of them rotten layers are not offering BOG :negative:

    Lingfield
    1.10 ENTANGLING @ 9/4 . . . . . 2nd
    2.20 POWER LINK @ 7/4 . . . . . 2nd
    3.30 PASSING NOD @ 15/8 . . . . . . . . WON
    Kempton
    5.30 BEAU GESTE @ 6/4 . . . . still running!

Nice write up MrE and agree the better ones usually go unnoticed until they find the golden goose so to speak, and they all want a bit then. He will get the accolades due one day as will yourself, because you both put so much into your threads that can make you laugh and cry, and I have always found both of your threads on what ever forums I find you on. There are a few more I could add to that list but not many and I’m glad to say I enjoy adding to your threads when ever possible.
But of late I’m trying to do too much with myself(and no not in the way your thinking) learning is much harder than I remembered or is it that I’m getting older and have too many things to do.
Whatever the reason I have, I hope to be chatting a lot more with all when I can.

    GETTING OLD(ER).

Michael bring the subject of age to the table in a nice subtle way and suggesting learning is more difficult with the onset of age, well, I think it to have been his meaning.

There are so many changes which occur and those changes can differ from person to person. Apart from the obvious aches and pains and general slowing down, in all things one of the major changes within myself I think is tolerance or maybe the lack of it.

I read only this morning of Ian Holloway (new football manager at Grimsby) making a youngster pick up a sweet wrapper and making his players clean up the training ground and found this approach very inspiring.

I have also been inspired this week by Greta Thunburg and Prince Charles who both spoke on the subject of climate change. Two speeches on the same subject but each coming at the problem from different angles, Greta the warrior trying to rally the troops and Charles the problem solver. May she be as wise as he should she live long enough.

At the heart of three good people results in a message of the lack of respect and the older I get the more aware I become and less tolerant I am of others and this downside of getting old(er) is certainly something I do not like and wish I could change within myself.

Maybe when I am next in soap-box mode I will express my feelings on EQUALISM!

Not A Lot of People Know This!

It is shaping up that I may have a selection today running in a town named GREAT WESTERN, Victoria, Australia.

I had not heard of Great Western before but have found it is about 70 miles north west of Ballarat, which may be known to some for the Dr. Blake mysteries on daytime TV (not as popular as Emmerdale).

I digress, Great Western has a population of 644 at the last count and is said to have some respected vineyards plus a church, general store and a hotel, perhaps not a lot goes on there.

Sunday (26th January) is Australia Day – big time annual celebrations down under – anyway Great Western holds a race day with a main race being the Great Western Cup plus a RODEO!

AUSTRALIA DAY – Sunday January 26

Indeed MrE I have them covered plus Kiss My Swiss but with particular interest in SHADOW COLOUR & ZOUPREMO.

Anyway, back to the day job.

My first pick at Geelong is again the HYPED HORSE and will have 50% increase stake and is: –
    DIRTY DEEDS – Geelong R7 @ 19/10
    RICH and RARE – R7 Great Western @ 8/5
    AL MA BELLE – R1 Murray Bridge @ 6/5 . . . . . WON

    CF -00.98

From two different sources there can be variation regarding the going and so once again if it is important it is best watched out for.
