Huge apologies, and I can’t believe I’ve missed the transfer window for week 8.
This Christmas/New Year thing has thrown me out this week and after midnight it
just dawned on me. I hope everyone else wasn’t as f’n stupid as me and got their
transfer in on time. I’m pig sick
I’ll post the update on the league in the morning.
Bah Humbug
LOL Graham..I did the opposite and jumped in too early believing Bristol De Mai would run on New Years Day I even gave him my star only to find he was a non runner
Still I think I’ll let him hang around for a while in the stable in the hope he’ll get a run before Cheltenham.
Looks like we have the chance to transfer our Elite horse this week. Wish we had 3 or 4 more to choose from as so far just a few have run.
Hope you enjoyed your Christmas and New Year Graham..plenty of time to make up the deficit and I for one am treading more water than ITV’s New Years Day broadcast
.so let’s boot hootnannyneigh out the back door and get set to spruce up our yards for the New Year..good luck Graham and our TRF team
JacThanks Jac, and that was bad luck with Bristol De Mai. I think you and I both put him
up a lot last year, I still think there’s more to come from him yet. I tend (when I
remember
) to make my transfer as near as possible to the 9pm deadline, just
in case of withdrawls, and even then you’re not assured with the dreaded Saturday morning
withdrawl. The only consolation I have this week, is that I probably would have transferred
in L’Ami Serge, who was beaten a head, so I wouldn’t have been better off score wise.I had a great Christmas Jac, I had one son and his wife over from Florida and the other up
from London, and we all got together at my sister’s in Dunoon. I tend to see one or the other
so it was great to have everyone all at the same time
I know that recent circumstances
for you will have made this a difficult Christmas, 3 years on in my case and it’s still hard,
but I wish you health and happiness (and a bit of luck with the GG’s) in the New Year
January 3, 2017 at 11:31 #1280056I done the same BigG
What a couple of pairs of wallysLol Nathan, it shouldn’t make me feel better, but it did, knowing that
I’m not the only wally in the village
Hope you had a great Christmas & New Year, and good luck with the nags
this year. Just over 2 months to Cheltenham, I can hardly believe that.
It feels like it was just a few months since I was at the last one. Anyway,
I’ve got my ticket in hand, so bring it on
January 5, 2017 at 10:17 #1280286After last week’s blunder, I’m getting the transfer reminder in early, just in case
my memory goes AWOL again
Transfers to be in by 9pm tomorrow, Friday 6/01/17
for week 9. It being a new month, apart from the usual Main Horse transfer, you can also
change your Elite Horse too, if you haven’t already last week. There are no bonus races this week, there’s not one until the Thyestes Chase at Gowran
Park on 19 Jan. I’ll post the league update tomorrow after racing has concluded. Best
of luck to all this week and in this New Year
January 12, 2017 at 16:24 #1281600Reminder for transfers to be in by 9pm tomorrow Friday 13/01/17 for week 10.
The list which I put up on the first page, showing the bonus races, was copied
from the list originally on the Stable Stars site. It shows that there is a
bonus race this week, the Thyestes Chase at Gowran Park on 19/01/17. They got
that wrong, or the meeting has been shifted to the following week. The actual
date of the bonus race is now Thursday 26/01/17, so there are no bonus races
this week.I’ll post an update on the league positions after racing tomorrow. Good luck
to all this week
January 15, 2017 at 15:05 #1282242Not a lot of change this week, I suspect a few, myself included, went for Crack Mome
as their as the best “sure thing”. A last fence blunder made sure that the “points in the
bank” were well and truly scuppered. This is the way things are standing at present.1 Carl Torr CLT Racing 05-12-16 19 11 1005

races this week, the Coral.ie Hurdle at Leopardstown on Sunday and the Thyestes
Chase at Gowran Park on Thursday. Good luck if you’ve got one running in one or
both of these.I should be keeping a running tally of the balls ups I’ve had in this competition,
my latest being last week when I transferred in Crack Mome (that didn’t go too well)
and transferred out Garde La Victoire. That’s what I thought I had done, only to
check in this week and find Garde La Victoire was still there. I’ve somehow clicked
on Un De Sceaux and ejected him instead, which means I just ejected the only horse
in my stable that had an engagement this week
I could transfer him back in, he’s got a very good chance of winning the Clarence
house on Saturday, but it means I couldn’t pick one running in either of the bonus
races. Anyway, that’s my moan over for this week, I’m sure there will be plenty more
in coming weeks
I’ll update the league positions tomorrow after racing is finished.
January 19, 2017 at 18:45 #1282770I noticed a lot of Crack Momer’s went down last week and thankfully I had left Modus in my picks who dotted up
at 7/1 although 20 points seemed a bit mean pointswise. Will be sure to get my transfers in Graham and your littel hiccups proves that this compy is a tricky one to work out what to leave in and take out.
I was going to put in Yorkhill as my star horse but notice he’s not in a bonus race so will have to have a rethink later.
Mullins mulling over Faugheen and Annie Power running before the months out so make sure you have them in your Elite picks this month.
Good luck all
Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 19, 2017 at 21:29 #1282793I don’t mind Crack Mome going down, as much as inadvertently putting
Un De Sceaux out when I meant to put out Garde La Victoire, downright
careless on my part. Very well done with Modus
It’s a tough one with Yorkhill Jac, it’s whether to take something more
likely to win, but with less points to stick your star on, or risk it in
a bonus race as wide open as the Coral.ie Hurdle. Add to that, that you never
know what Willie will do
Will Yorkhill run in the Coral.ie Novice
Chase on Sunday, or will he run in the Arkle Novice Steeplechase the following
week. He’s not one to come out and declare his intentions early.I’ve not used my Elite Horse transfer for this month yet, I’m doing the same as
you and waiting to see which, if either, runs in the Irish Champion Hurdle.
Hopefully by the 27th (last day to transfer for the month) it will be a bit
clearer. I’d love to see a fully fit faugheen, but I’ve got this gut feeling
that things still aren’t right, despite Willie saying things are going well.Good luck this week, and it’s less than 2 months to Cheltenham
January 19, 2017 at 23:35 #1282812Bad luck with Un De Sceaux Graham he looks locked on to take the Clarence House but as with Crack Mome anything can happen. I somehow find I have Top Gamble in that race a horse I nearly transferred out last week so I won’t put up UDS I’ll leave it in the hands of the Gods.
Think it’s worth having a crack at one of the bonus races and hoping the Coral i.e.hurdle field will whittle down a bit tomorrow. Family Mullins, Gordon Elliot and A J Martin have 18 runners out of 29
I’m hoping Gordon Elliot keeps Tombstone in as he’s in my 10 to follow and it’s his first run this season after a small setback. Really looking forward to seeing him out again.. Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 22, 2017 at 01:50 #1283238I seem to have been chasing my tail these last couple of weeks, I should have had
the league update before Saturday’s racing, but as it happens there hasn’t been
much change, with the exception of Mark Allison (The Spiders From Mars) who moves
up from 7th to 4th…..nice one Mark
I suspect many will have their changes for this week running in tomorrow’s bonus race
at Leopardstown, Heartbreak City seems all the rage there. Good luck if you’re on
him, but it’s a mega tough race to call. Some may have gone for one in the Thyestes
Chase at Gowran Park on Thursday, The Crafty Butcher could be a blot on the handicap,
but again it’s very competitive. I have to hold my hands up and say I’ve taken the
cowards way out, and selected Yanworth on Sunday and stuck my star on him. Mind you,
I thought I was being smart with Crack Mome too, and that didn’t quite go to plan
Good luck whichever way you went, here’s how we are standing at the moment.

Well done to Mark and fingers crossed for Heartbreak City later this afternoon.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 22, 2017 at 09:57 #1283245Oops, well I knew it started with a Y anyway

You’re right Jac, I did mean Yorkhil, and it was nearly 2am when I posted that.
Good luck with Heartbreak City, he might be favourite, but it’s a brave shout
nonetheless. I tried really hard to have one in one of the bonus races, it’s the
first week I haven’t gone for a bonus race, but I just couldn’t get something
that I thought was a likely winner. I’ll be shouting Heartbreak home for you
January 22, 2017 at 10:09 #1283246Must admit I was torn between Yorkhill and HC but went for the bonus as luckily I had Bristol De Mai left in my choices as I transferred him in a couple of weeks back when he was a non runner, will leave him there now for Cheltenham.
Yorkhill looks like he just has to turn up but of course he’s not won until he jumps the last and I’ll be cheering him home too this afternoon.
At least the Clarence House has been re-routed to Cheltenham so some good horses to transfer in next week.
Good luck today Graham
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 23, 2017 at 14:23 #1283422Well done with Bristol De Mai Jac, he’s a good one to have in your stable and
in your Ten To Follow. Definitely one to hold onto for Cheltenham. You’re
sneaking up that leaderboard, into 13th now I see. A couple more like BDM
wouldn’t go amiss. It looks like we might see Faugheen next Sunday, I really
hope so. It looks like Annie Power won’t be there, and I’d be surprised if
Apple’s Jade turned up, it should be a home run for faugheen, the only worry
is how fit is he. With Petit Mouchoir looking to be heading there, he will
need to virtually race fit to win this. I know you, like me, have still got
your Elite Horse to play this month, and it’s our last week before we’re into
the February transfer market. Good luck this week
January 23, 2017 at 14:40 #1283426Thank you Graham,
Like you I was really delighted with BDM this Saturday and feel we have a contender on our hands. I was beginning to worry with his 4x2nd places but the old BDM is back with a vengeance and bar mistakes I’ll be holding tight to him in the comp.
Looks like I’m going for Faugheen as my Elite horse this month as I think Annie Power has a late outing on the 22nd
February.
Wish like you I’d starred Yorkhill on Saturday as Heartbreak City never got into the race so he’ll be going out next week and probably UDSceaux will be the starry one or Faugheen on the Sunday.
Slowly climbing the ladder and hoping to get onto Page 1 with all you brilliant tipsters maybe next week, who knows.
I think you are top scorer in the League for this month
Graham so really well done, keep going.
Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 27, 2017 at 01:46 #1283947Weekly reminder to have your transfers for week 12 in before 9pm Friday 27/01/17.
The Bonus Race this week is the Irish Champion Hurdle at Leopardstown
on Sunday. Is Faugheen back to his best
if he is he surely
takes this, but if he’s slightly short then Petit Mouchoir will give
him a run for his money. Nichols Canyon may have been beaten by PM
last time, but I’m not convinced that NC wouldn’t reverse that form,
for my money he would, I think he’s better than that run. It’s a cracking race, but there is a brilliant weekend of racing at
Cheltenham and Doncaster. I’m still kicking myself for mistakenly
removing UN De Sceaux instead of Garde La Victoire, he looks to have
the Clarence House at his mercy. I know I can stick him back in, but
I’d love to have him in and pick another with him, there are a few that
look nailed on over this weekend. I think this will be a high scoring
weekend, and we could see some shuffling in the league.Good luck all, I’ll post this week’s update on the league after racing on
Friday.January 28, 2017 at 22:52 #1284384I’d imagine that there were many of us thinking that Thistlecrack was points in
the bank today, I know I was, but he went down to one of the bravest horses you
will ever see, and I don’t give a hoot that I didn’t get the points, I’m just
privileged to have seen a magnificent horse trying his heart out. What I am
disappointed about is Willie Mullins pulling the rug from underneath me with
another last minute withdrawal. I know things can go wrong with any horse at the
last minute, but unless Willie is becoming incredibly unlucky, then it’s becoming
a bit too regular for my liking. Again, I’d imagine there are plenty on here, like
me, that had Faugheen, with their star on him, for the Irish Champion Hurdle tomorrow.
I had a bad feeling about it before I used my Elite Transfer just before 9pm on
Friday, I hung off for as long as I could, constantly checking for an update but none
was forthcoming. I would dearly love to know at what hour Willie realised that Faugheen
was unlikely to make the line up. I suppose I’m a bit fortunate that I have Nichols Canyon
in my stable, so at least I’ve got a chance, albeit without my star.Anyway, enough of my moaning and lets see how the league is doing. Mark Allison (The
Spiders from Mars) and Ian Tidmarsh (Moet and Pizza darlings) have held their places in
3rd and 4th, but they’ve topped the monthly points figure with 195 points each, very well
done guys. Carl Torr (CLT Racing) still tops the table, but I also noted that Catherine
Tongue (Catherine’s Stable) has had a cracking week with 115 points which keeps her on the
1st page, and catching up. Good luck tomorrow, I’d imagine there will be a good few with
Petit Mouchoir in the bonus race, he’s in with a really good shout, although obviously I’m
hoping Nichols Canyon can turn the tables from their last run (that’s if he hasn’t had a bad
hair day and Willie decides to keep him tucked up in his stable
)Here’s the league positions, good luck all
