Lost soldier not sure about Top Notch being exposed at the top level. He was only beaten by Yorkhill who at that time was all class and also thrashed Politologue, and had Disko behind who I know a lot of people on this forum rate.
February 17, 2018 at 11:10 #1342656Two weeks ago I backed Cue Card at 10/1 EW (3 places). Added Waiting Patiently 5/2. Such a impressive horse.
February 17, 2018 at 11:29 #1342662Coney Island very much underpriced, doen’t look as natural over his fences as others here. I’ve hit the ‘Lay’ button and will probably do so again.
February 17, 2018 at 11:40 #1342666Coney Island is a bit of an unknown in the race to me. On one hand they talking Gold Cup standard horse on the other has to step up markedly from seasonal debut.
February 17, 2018 at 11:42 #1342669Coney Island – there may be other reasons for it (trip, reappearance, etc) but his RPRs:
Hurdles – Yielding or better: 148, 147, 118 (racecourse debut);
……….Soft & Heavy: 128, 122, 120.Chases – Yielding/Good to Soft or better: 167, 160, 150;
………Soft: 136.February 17, 2018 at 11:45 #1342672I agree Tim, Coney Island is making the market here. Waiting Patiently for me, love this horse. He’s still unexposed over fences, we certainly have not seen the best of him yet… King George winner 2018.
As much as I love the horse, I have rules, and like to pull up sticks every year mid February – festival… So no max bets for me today.
I’ve backed Kildisart 3pm in a win double with WP, and Holly Bush Henry again doubled up with WP. A small win treble on all three.
Waiting Patiently is the real deal IMO. As much as I respect Top Notch… Today should see WP step into the big time.
Good luck all.
February 17, 2018 at 11:58 #1342676Top Notch for me @ 5/2
Love the horse. On him for the Ryanair but ended up plumping for him in my multiples here.
Absolutely superb race. Best of the season so far for me.
February 17, 2018 at 15:45 #1342738Brian Hughes is absolutely brilliant. He’s the best jockey in the country, for me. He may well have been on the best horse, but take nothing away from that ride.
February 17, 2018 at 15:45 #1342739That’s a very nice horse.
As much as I love him, I wouldn’t be getting carried away with him for the Ryanair. Faster ground and a track that doesn’t suit his running style there.
In the cold light of day, perhaps the form isn’t great either. Cue Card holds it down and Frodon wasn’t too far away…
February 17, 2018 at 15:45 #1342740A lovely win from Waiting Patiently and Ruth Jefferson. A brilliant horse.
Off the front, Cue Card has run an absolute belter. That was a very quick gallop they’ve gone there and he’s stayed out on his own all the way until Waiting Patiently got there. Two fantastic horses. Two great runs.
February 17, 2018 at 15:45 #1342741Excellent from the winner and excellent from cue card, i hope the retirement calls (previous to this) are firmly forgotten, ran a fantastic race at his age.
February 17, 2018 at 15:46 #1342742Great race
Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
February 17, 2018 at 15:49 #1342743I wonder if Cue Card May well have won if not for Speredek. And I wouldn’t be surprised if paddy Brennan had a word with the stewards about Hughes dangerously cutting him up after the last. Great race nonetheless.
February 17, 2018 at 15:53 #1342744Dont think he would have won but he did cut him off quite badly, caught CC on the head as he cut across
February 17, 2018 at 15:53 #1342745An unforgettable race
Waiting patiently emerged as a horse of true quality at kempton and looked set to cruise home today but this great great horse cue card never let go. What a star. How many horses have battled away at the top level for so long and with such determination
February 17, 2018 at 15:54 #1342746Very happy to see two of my favourite horses fight out a great duel, although I was rooting for Cue Card the most. If it comes up a bit soft at Cheltenham I think Waitingly Patienly will be favourite for the RyanAir.
I hope Paddy Brennan will Cue Card again next time.
February 17, 2018 at 15:56 #1342747Fabulous from Cue Card but for Waiting Patiently to move so smoothly through the field from a long way back and come to Cue Card’s girth cruising tells you all you need to know. This is a top class animal who has been brought along so quietly and cleverly that he still has quite a bit to learn. Gold Cup horse.
