Look back at the race if Townend was allowed to try everything to win that race it would have easy. Strict orders to get the horse round that day and not kill it.
CCB was backed from 5s into 4s before the off, after Xmas Harty wanted to give it a break after its 2 runs.
So unless you have info it was half fit Id say ur very wrong there. I know it was along break but with no bounce factor in the next the long break never effected a best fresh CCB.
An Cathaoir Mor frankin both there form shows that race was of high quality again proving CCB was not half fit.
Both horses had plenty of improvement though not just CCBI’d say you’re talking about the wrong horse there mate. Cee Bee was a serious drifter on the day and McCoy gave him a very easy ride. Yes, Zaarito is a good horse, but Cee Bee is a monster

And Somersby is a Monster slayer!
January 18, 2010 at 21:19 #270722So your the reason its trading at 22/1 at the mo…..well for your sake I hope you did get on 27s.
Was going to top up on the 33s again but missed it, Im still hoping a local indie will give me 33s though.
I have plenty on at this stage too though an average of 90 on the machine that Im very happy withI wish Hooper! I just went to avail some of the 27s and see he’s only 21s! Damn my work for barring gambling sites! Its no wonder I am leaving there on Friday. No point punting at 21s when he is 20-1 across the board with most firms. The value has gone (or has at least been squeezed out of the horse) so might just have to wait until the festival comes around. Need to keep my ante post budget free for others I have my eye on!
January 18, 2010 at 22:03 #27072725s still available in bruce
Bit surprised with money today on itJanuary 18, 2010 at 23:15 #270746Reverse the form with CCB?

Can’t agree with that. You need to watch the race again and watch each jockey’s approach to the final fence. One was thinking about winning, the other about making sure they got to the other side. If Townend had gone for a big one and Zaarito had pinged it I think he would have won.
This is the form to follow for the Arkle imho. I think the Captain would have beaten Sizing Europe who I think will throw the towel in up the hill at Cheltenham.
January 18, 2010 at 23:26 #270748Good race reading Aragorn, it is the form to follow and its why i backed CCB at xmas and An Cathaoir Mor the last day because horse that get that close to Zaarito deserve to be followed
January 19, 2010 at 15:05 #270850I don’t think it was a case of Townend thinking just get to the other side. I think he thought he had Captain Cee Bee covered. And yes, it’s great form well worth following. Watch out for Sorcerer, the only horse to get near the front 3.
January 19, 2010 at 15:08 #270852I’ve very much in the Captain Cee Bee, corner.
Hell of a horse i think this one.
January 19, 2010 at 15:19 #270853It’s a very good Arkle – some decent Irish raiders and some very good up and coming British horses too – still think Tataniano has the world at his feet, only wish the price was a bit better! (damn the Nicholls/Walsh effect!)
January 19, 2010 at 21:03 #270927Against my initial thoughts decided to play on Zaarito at 19.5. In reality I am chasing a free bet…if he wins the Irish Arkle on Sunday his price will contract.
I either back Zaarito @ 3.5 for Irish Arkle (think he’ll go well) or I back him at 19.5 for the Arkle in March. If he wins on Sunday his price for March will contract more than 3.5 points and I can then lay off at around 10-1 and get a free bet for the Arkle. Thats my theory anyway!

Gaz,you know your horses, what do you think of Somersby?
January 19, 2010 at 23:23 #270954I backed Zaarito on 11th Jan at 34 on the machine, since which time he’s come into 19.5 – TRF inspired gamble? I want to know who is on at 100 or bigger…
January 20, 2010 at 09:09 #270991Not sure if its a TRF gamble but as an ante post novice I am annoyed at myself for not getting the 33-1 freely available a week and a bit agao! Plenty positives on here for Zaarito which convinced me 19.5 was still a worthwhile bet.

I think he looks a really good prospect, very exciting horse.
I’d have him before Sizing Europe in the betting, but i’ve never been a fan of Sizing Europe.
January 20, 2010 at 09:27 #270997Tataniano, CCB and Somersby will be in the first three; hopefully in that order.
January 20, 2010 at 11:17 #271031I’m on Sizing Europe and the Captain both at odds of 30/1+, went back in on the Captain at 22/1 after his first run and recently took a bit more of 9/1 about SE. I stll see Captain Cee Bee as being the most likely winner particularly if we avoid soft ground. The horse has everything, speed, class, jumps well (mistake excepted), festival form and most importantly of all he’s a battler) but I’m trying to work out where the main dangers are likely to come from and these are my current thoughts:
Long Run- I think would be a massive danger, but both the betting and connections suggest it will be running elsewhere therefore I’m happy to ignore (perhaps foolishly)
Somersby- This horse perhaps worries me most, jumps well, stays well and has decent festival form. I can’t help but feel though he was flattered as Kempton. Crack Away Jack jumped terribly and got in no kind of rhythm, the close proximity of Tchico Polos doesn’t strike me as being Arkle winning form either.
Tataniano- The horse could be anything, but so far he’s beaten precisely nothing. I generally take no notice of the Nicholls hype machine (Tatenen or Aiteen ThirtyThree anyone?) and if trained by anyone else, on form he would be a 33/1 shot on what he’s achieved. Has anybody any idea why he hasn’t been seen since November?
Riverside Theatre- Is certainly worthy of consideration but again he hasn’t really beaten anything of merit, he fell just short of top class over hurdles and looks a similar level over fences.
Mad Max- Too many doubts for me. Late starter, looks better over further, ongoing breathing problems not proven to be resolved.
Zaarito- Nice horse but I can see no reason to suggest he can reverse placings with a fit Captain Cee Bee.
Osana- Has taken to fences better than I expected, I thought he would be another Staw Bear. That said again I can see no reason for him reversing places with either Sizing Europe or Captain Cee Bee (obviously assuming he’d completed) let alone both.
Sports Line- Looked promising in his 1st run over fences but hasn’t been seen since, the yard seems to have some problems and it will be interesting to see how he performs (if he gets there) this weekend. Very much a watching brief at the moment though.A couple of horses are of interest at longer odds, Snap Tie, Take the Breeze and Kangaroo Court in particualr and I wouldn’t be suprised to see any of these run into a place if they got there but none strike me as being good enough to win.
January 20, 2010 at 11:30 #271038DukeOfMarmalade – you say Aiteen Thirtythree is part of the Nicholls hype machine, well i disagree. I think he was part of the Harry Findlay ‘bet machine’. I think he got this horse hyped up so he could put a tidy sum on Reve De Sivola, which would have netted him more than what he paid for his horse. I say this due to the hype, distance he lost by, and celebrations after the race by Nick Williams who seemed to be embracing Harry Findlay in a kind of ‘gamble paid’ kind of way. Then again, perhaps i’m wrong, and Nick Williams and Harry Findlay have such a cosey frindship that caters for Nick Williams celebrating like he’d won the gold cup and joking with the owner of a horse who was supposed to be ‘the next big thing’ before it got trounced by 50 lengths ?
