Charles Darwin to conquer the World
October 6, 2024 at 15:25 #1709214Great ride and perfect trip, kept it simple – reminded me so much of how Alpinista won her year
October 6, 2024 at 15:25 #1709215“I’ve backed:
Los Angeles, Bluestocking and Aventure”,What did the forecast pay?
Value Is EverythingOctober 6, 2024 at 15:26 #1709216YAAAAAAYYYY!!!
October 6, 2024 at 15:26 #1709217Well done winners, it wasn’t a great renewal but the cash came for her late and she was convincing.
I wouldn’t read too much into that form….October 6, 2024 at 15:28 #1709218Well done nwalton and everyone else on, what a filly.

Happy with the 2nd of Aventure at the 22s
October 6, 2024 at 15:28 #1709220“I’ve backed:
Los Angeles, Bluestocking and Aventure”Don’t think the dual F/C on the track will pay too much. There was plenty of late money for the first two.
October 6, 2024 at 15:31 #1709222As I said beforehand, Ruby… There were a few horses more likely to improve and four of them finished in the first four… And difficult to come from the back in that ground. So it is very possible the form is pretty good if not right up to an average Arc..
Value Is EverythingOctober 6, 2024 at 15:32 #1709223Yeah, I don’t think it will go down as a vintage renewal but if you win I doubt you give a monkeys about that.
Makes you wonder what the connections of Goliath are thinking as he put her firmly in her place in the King George and we also know how much he likes soft ground (having won over C&D on very soft at the start of the season).
October 6, 2024 at 15:38 #1709226Had her placed perfectly following Moore, great ride.
The more I know the less I understand.
October 6, 2024 at 15:43 #1709227Goliath won the King George from Bluestocking. However, although Goliath had won well at a lesser level on soft… his MUCH improved form came once on a firmish surface… And although Bluestocking has very good form on good-firm, imo she’s probably at her very best on softer.
Going into today’s racing the two trainers in excellent form were O’Brien and Beckett.
Value Is EverythingOctober 6, 2024 at 16:07 #1709229I agree that Bluestocking best form is on softer ground but bear in mind that Goliath has won twice on good to soft, once on soft and once on very soft so I don’t think Bluestocking would have had any advantage on him on today’s ground – especially considering that the winning time was just 1.98s slow on officially ‘very soft’ ground
October 6, 2024 at 17:31 #1709241Quite a day for the females with the Foret and Abbaye also going to them. Haven’t followed much of the flat this year so forgive my ignorance if I’m wrong here but one race I did see was the King George when Goliath laughed at her in 2nd gear. Has to go down as a really bad renewal looking at her CV but she was really game and got a great ride from Rossa. To be honest the Arc was becoming a bit of a second rate Group 1 anyway so maybe its not a big deal.
October 6, 2024 at 18:06 #1709247thanks Greengrass and everyone else, easy after the event to say when you have backed the winner but that was a classic ride by Rossa
October 6, 2024 at 18:17 #1709250Frustrating that the top 3 horses weren’t there but well done to the connections. Ground getting very bad now each arc. First and third by camelot who now is well out in front as top stallion in Europe on prizemoney. Never understood why breeders don’t utilise him more. I imagine that might change now. Amazing to think canelot struggled in really soft going. The vagaries of breeding.
