In the paper elliot says mark Walsh told him after the race andy dufresne has plenty of pace and would even handle 2 miles
November 11, 2019 at 14:42 #1474597I couldn’t have him over this trip at all at this stage in his career.
Would imagine if all went well Envoi would maybe go Supreme & this chap Ballymore, especially with Malone Road struggling to remain fit. JP & Frank will have their way anyway but GE would like them split you’d think.
November 11, 2019 at 16:09 #1474603He has abracadbras for the supreme too
He really has an embarrassment of riches at this stage
November 11, 2019 at 16:44 #1474605That beast will get found out once he has to battle IYAM. Very quirky.
November 11, 2019 at 19:47 #1474624Andy carried himself in a way that was just different from the folk around here
November 16, 2019 at 07:36 #1475061Added Thyme Hill 20s and Blue Sari 25s.
November 17, 2019 at 19:38 #1475244Had a small bet on Midnight Run today at 25’s.
I think he’ll go Ballymore, but I’ll still have a bigger top up here once NRNB kicks in.
November 17, 2019 at 23:49 #1475265Albert Bartlett for me is a race to stay away from Ante Post. The point of backing a horse in the Ante Post market is that you get a better price; the winner of the Albert Bartlett always goes off a double figure price and it’s usually a sub 140 horse that has loads of experience and can settle well on quick ground. It’s not a race for classy Novices like Andy Dufresne or Fury Road or Midnight Run. Obviously the last two years we’ve had soft and heavy ground but usually it’s quick ground and a 140 rated unspectacular slogger of a horse with loads of experience wins at a big price
November 17, 2019 at 23:56 #1475266I actually agree with that Vautour, which is strange given my previous post.
When it comes to the Novice Hurdlers at this stage of the season, I’m only betting very small amounts, and even with introduction of NRNB, that’s not going to change too much.
I’ll make the odd exception, usually in The Ballymore after New Year, but couldn’t argue with your stance on this race.
November 18, 2019 at 14:17 #1475286Took a little bit of 16s about Thyme Hill. He’s battle-hardened, has a bit of pace but also stays all day.
Definitely a bit of Fingal Bay about him who also won Saturdays race, won the Challow and then was well fancied for this before picking up an injury pre-cheltenham.
November 24, 2019 at 17:03 #1475804I know he hasnt beat much yet but FURY ROAD looks a proper stayer, He won today at a canter 2m 4f soft ground looked no trouble..With the after race comments aswell, I would say there is only one main nag Elliot should send here.
“He could step right out to three miles if we wanted, and he jumps very well.
“He could go for the three-mile race at Limerick or the Lawlor’s race at Naas. He’s a big, staying horse.”
November 24, 2019 at 17:26 #1475811I’m pleased they haven’t overreacted too much with Fury Road after today, he beat trees. 116 rated in 2nd.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!December 2, 2019 at 17:03 #1476383Added Fury Road 16-1
December 3, 2019 at 17:53 #1476467My three Ante Post bets in the race are:
Thyme Hill @ 14/1
The Big Breakaway @ 25/1
Latest Exhibition EW @ 66/1Thyme Hill is fairly obvious and I would be confident he heads here and not the Ballymore.
I backed The Big Breakaway before Chepstow assuming a good performance would see his price halve. He looked a complete and utter weapon and I am surprised 20/1 is still widely available. Forget what he beat and look at the manner in which he did it. Effortless.
The one that people probably aren’t paying much attention to is Latest Exhibition. James Nolan said it’s unlikely they will step Latest Exhibition up to 3m before the Albert Bartlett but make no mistake, that is their long term plan. Beat Thatsy over 2m on debut which surprised the Nolans and ran a credible second to Abacadabras over an inadequate trip. The form of those races is looking pretty good with Thatsy winning since. They really like this horse and at 66/1 he’s the right price to take a punt on IMO.
December 5, 2019 at 04:43 #1476567I would also fancy The BIG BREAKAWAY if he tunred up here, but he is still only 4. My concern is they might mind him this year and send him to the BALLYMORE, as this race can break some young undeveloped horses.
20/1 is fair, but i will hold off to see what trip hes entered next time
December 12, 2019 at 00:29 #1477101Any opinions on Valtor for the potato race?
Won a novice hurdle recently over 2.6 and entered in the trial over the weekend.
A 160 rated chaser who would fit the profile of previous winners, stamina not in doubt and plenty of experience but maybe a little long in the tooth.
Is 33/1 with 365 worth a nibble I wonder? Should probably wait until decs are out tomorrow to see if he will run at the weekend or not but if he does go this route could well be a player against younger softer novices.
December 16, 2019 at 00:01 #1477426Almost identical post here for me, as I just did on Ballymore thread, only difference being I cashed out, rather than laid off….
I’ve trimmed my Cheltenham bets over the last few days, decided to get out of most of them, and wait for NRNB.
The one I thought I wouldn’t have to worry about was Andy Dufresne, but cashed out today for a (very) small profit.
Not completely given up on him, I really did think he was exceptional last time, but I thought that was tame today.
Happy to get out ahead with him for now.
Still have Midnight Run for this, but only because I can’t cash out or lay off.
