Taken 6/1 Next Destination for this, should be even better when racing at 3m on good ground. Staying on 4th in Champion Bumper last year so proven at the Festival already… And with Samcro likely to go for the Ballymore anyway this is surely the best option.
Value Is EverythingJanuary 7, 2018 at 13:05 #1336116Does it not concern you that willie keeps saying hes a ballymore horse, i think the only way he will come here is if he gets beat today running his race
January 7, 2018 at 14:01 #1336126Added cracking smartfor this @10/1, i think over further he would reverse the form with ND over this trip
January 7, 2018 at 14:03 #1336127I continue to be disappointed with Blow by Blow. He looked a good bumper horse but he’s just not traveling in his races at all. Perhaps he’s lazy, perhaps he’s simply not the same horse after his injury or perhaps he hates soft ground. Whichever it is he is going to have to improve beyond all recognition if he’s to deliver anything at the festival.

Is a bit of a concern, yes Ham. But allowed for that in the price I was willing to take. Without that concern he’d be 5/2. Biggest threat to ND not running in the 3 miler imo is Samcro not making it to Cheltenham and/or something else of Mullins yard emerging for the race… Who was that “Duc” of Mullins’s finishing 3rd in the race today?
Value Is EverythingJanuary 7, 2018 at 14:50 #1336139He drifted for the AB after the race which i was quite surprised about, personally i think the biggest threat to him not running in the AB was samcro not turning up today, ill be surprised if they push him for the AB after that today, the horse in 3rd looks a nice type for sure
Cant see him winning the ballymore by any means, just speculating is all, he may very well be better at 3m, but would be surprised now if we see him in it
January 7, 2018 at 15:05 #1336141Racing Post Willie Mullins quote after the race:
“It’s very testing out there and he handled it well. He’ll be entered for the Albert Bartlett but I’d imagine the Ballymore will be his race. He’ll get a better-run race at Cheltenham. Whether he’ll run again before the festival I don’t know.”Does seem Ballymore is favourite:
Might have a part saver LAY @ around 8/1.Value Is EverythingJanuary 7, 2018 at 15:24 #1336146Yeah i watched the interview he even suggested an entry for the supreme! As ittl be so strongly run which he thinks would suit, ballymore definitely seemed the obvious, if he doesnt run again before the fes it wont be here he turns up
January 7, 2018 at 15:31 #1336149The good thing about Cracking Smart is we already know that 3 miles will be no problem for him. He’s been a consistent performer all year and has won on good ground. I agree: a solid bet.

Agree but I wouldn’t be too disappointed as he really does need 3m +. We knew towards the end of the race today he would be done for speed and that’s exactly what happened. Still think he is a potential player for the AB.

Winning an ordinary bumper on good ground is nothing like his soft ground form, CNC. Horse of his ability would win a race like that even if hating the ground.

Also had a point e/w on him earlier. Money today for him was telling and he ran really well staying on strongly.
ND looks a good hoss but not sure he’d want a stiff 3 miles just yet. Mullins mentioning the Supreme in one of his interviews was telling.
January 7, 2018 at 18:49 #1336175With Elliot confirming Cracking Smart is going to head straight here, 8/1 with Hills’ NR (at the fez) NB concession looks to be the bet of the whole festival.
Getabird the only worry, but at 16/1 easy to get him covered.
January 7, 2018 at 22:24 #1336208I don’t believe for one minute Henderson and Mullins know which races for sure On The Blind Side and Next Destination will run in at this stage. They lean towards one because a reporter has a microphone in their faces and they have to answer. And they both said Ballymore. At the end of the day they will sit down close to the time, look at the opposition and decide with the owners on what race they have the best chance of winning. Can you imagine them both taking on Samcro if he hacks up in February? It would be a great race but I have my doubts on all 3 turning up.
January 7, 2018 at 22:30 #1336210Next Destination and On the blind side do look like ballymore horses though, they don’t strike me as out and out stayers.
Next Destination has a lot of pace and ability. He doesn’t always travel well but he finds- those are the sort of horses you want on your side. Having said that the second has a future as well.
January 7, 2018 at 22:31 #1336211Who’s to say the second won’t turn it around at Cheltenham- after all the conditions will be completely different.
January 7, 2018 at 22:40 #1336212What’s the story with callett mad? Is he headed here?
