Theoretically Santini may have a form edge but this will be a gruelling test for novices and Chef Des Obeaux looks the strongest stayer judged by Haydock.
March 16, 2018 at 00:16 #1346924Not a big betting race for me, and I’m usually too focussed on The Gold Cup, to actually enjoy it, but have one running for me here, and it’s Fabulous Saga at 90’s to 140’s. Should surely come up short, but hopeful of a run for my money.
I’ll probably add another, and swaying between Calett Mad or Dortmund Park.
Fabulous Saga 90’s to 140’s
March 16, 2018 at 02:08 #1346940I am fascinated to see what Stormy Ireland will do tomorrow. It’s rare one sees a horse win by 350 lengths or whatever it was. It was the fact she hurdled the last so impressively which took me. I haven’t got anything on her but I think she could be exciting. This is one of the best Albert Bartlett in many a year and I think we’ll see some good horses coming from this race, plus Mitchouka and Espoir D’Allen who didn’t make the race. Money down on Santini and Gumball (needs good ground). One bet lost when Mitchouka was redirected to the Fred Winter which I thought was a very odd decision.
March 16, 2018 at 08:20 #1346969Santini could just be a bit special. Black Op did everything he could to frank the form on Wednesday. If he get’s defeated that will probably come from the stablemate. I think Henderson has two very exciting stayers on his hands.
Santini (4/1) main bet
Chef Des Obeaux (5/1)March 16, 2018 at 10:10 #1346997On good ground I was happy to rule Santini out based on the Kealy theory that inexperienced horses don’t win the race; they go too quick on the ground and have nothing left for the hill and horses with vast experience like Penhill and UnowhatIemanharry and Berties Dream do well. Based on that I backed Poetic Rythym and Calett Mad who are the two most experienced horses in the race. Maybe the slow ground will stop them from going so quick and experience wont be as big of a factor. With the ground the way it is I fancy Chris’s Dream or Fabulous Saga and Fabulous Saga fits the experienced profile and was available at 33/1 so I added him each way.
March 16, 2018 at 14:33 #1347055I’m going with a couple big priced horses in this one… Mr Whipped at 28s EW and Kilbricken Storm at 50s EW… hopefully one of them runs for a place at least.
March 16, 2018 at 14:38 #1347057Am on Mr Whipped too, also done Chef Des and Chriss.
They’re not quickening out of that ground and stamina is obviously key.
Value Is EverythingMarch 16, 2018 at 14:40 #1347059Chris’s Dream is interesting, coming from a very modest level he bolted up 64 lengths on his first start for Henry De Bromhead. We have seen Bristol De Mai and others pulling an amazing performance out of the blue and it proved to be a false dawn. With Chris’s Dream it is true that he won on desperate ground but he’s only getting started in his career and he’ll clearly relish conditions. At three times the odds of Santini I’ll try a fiver at 9/1.
Main bet is Chef Des Obeaux who recorded a big personal best last time at Haydock. He won 15 lengths that day and although the two horses to run and win since were odds-on, they both bolted up. Chef Des Obeaux looks the more assured stayer than Santini and for me I see them holding very similar chances today and had to go with the one at double the odds of the other.
Main bet Chef Des Obeaux 6/1
Cover bet Chris’s Dream 9/1
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
March 16, 2018 at 14:41 #1347060Added Calett Mad win 18’s, and 4 Places Real Steel 28’s.
March 16, 2018 at 15:00 #1347062That made my day.
March 16, 2018 at 15:02 #1347063Well played Viktors, very easy for a 50-1 shot
March 16, 2018 at 15:06 #1347064Just the perfect conditions for Kilbricken Storm and always going well, just watching the race I was expecting a place for sure but just kept going and going.
March 16, 2018 at 15:08 #1347065Santini stayed on way better than Chef Des Obeaux, who was weak in the betting and was disappointing.
The money that came for Chris’s Dream was ill placed and he never managed to dominate in becoming the next ten mile winner to prove flattered by the margin.
Big congrats if anyone got the winner there. I probably wouldn’t back him if allowed to bet after the race.
A bit underwhelmed and I was going to skip the race originally. The folly of the punter with a couple of decent winners who feels it’s their week

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Well played that man!

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Know how you feel, Steve.

Chris’s Dream stayed around the inside and went too quick early – poor ride.
Chef Des never going well – weak in the market.Great 50/1 for Viktors.
Value Is EverythingMarch 17, 2018 at 20:41 #1347394Shout and a half Viktors.
Savage race, quite a few of these will be marked for a while.
March 17, 2018 at 20:46 #1347396Well done, Viktors. Anyone who can predict Tizzard horses is a star in my book
