I placed a forecast on the Neptune at a Betfred shop this afternoon. Wrote Willoughby Court, Neon Wolf and Bacardys on a slip for combi forecasts, handed my money over and the bet was placed. Went back later and told it was a loser because they’d entered it as a tricast.
” You weren’t in the shop, we were’t sure so it was placed as a tricast ”
” Even though you were mistaken, look at this objectively – you’ve laid the least likely bet possible – surely a forecast return for a punter placing a tricast is better than nothing ? ”
” You weren’t here ”I’m a regular in there, it’s the only betting shop for several miles so they have monopoly on the area and i feel disgusted with how i’ve been treated.
A few years ago, my father placed a golf bet with them and was quoted 8-1. They tried to pay him out at 9-2.
Cheltenham ruined and pissed off with the sport.
March 15, 2017 at 22:19 #1292473It wasn’t even a tricast race, so how can the staff have translated it that way? What did you write on the slip?
March 15, 2017 at 22:33 #1292478Racing Post are giving tricast for the Neptune :
Tote win: £14.70 PL: £3.60 £1.60 £2.90 Ex: £57.20 CSF: £42.17 Tricast: £254.37 Trifecta: £326.60I wrote the horse’s names and the bet. They claim they were unsure and so placed it as a tricast.
March 15, 2017 at 22:37 #1292481If you’ve clearly written “combination forecast” or “CFC”, they don’t have a leg to stand on. If not, you’ll have to look at their ambiguous bets rule, which will be displayed in the shop.
March 15, 2017 at 23:04 #1292500Former shop employee here (not Fred). As Gladiateur says, if you wrote combination/combo forecast or CFC or similar then you are fine and they are just being muppets. Any mention of a forecast should be enough if you staked it right, i.e. if you wrote £1 FC and staked it as £6.
Bit more difficult if there’s no mention of a forecast as unfortunately a CFC and a CTC are both 6 bets. If you could post a picture (as long as it shows the selections and bet instructions you can obscure the rest) it would help.
Generally shop staff are not out to cheat you, there’s nothing in it for them. It’s just that sadly many of them are clueless. They also get little to no discretion on these matters (even for regulars). It will likely be down to their security department or perhaps a senior manager.
If they or customer services aren’t having it then these lot are here to help http://www.ibas-uk.com/ I never got involved in anything that went to IBAS so don’t know how good they are but they are there if all else fails.
