Great pics Gord.
How much of the race did you see from there?
Stalkers are usually easy to spot. Don’t think Reet’s back yet.Value Is EverythingMay 20, 2012 at 16:25 #404922Ginge I saw very little but I wanted a spot where I could run onto the track to greet him back for some shots so I found this old Picnic table and shoved it up to the fence climbed on top to give me a bit of height and it was a bit wobbly, next thing a woman wants to join me on it,no change there eh? and she says if I stand one end and her the other it will balance it,No problem! Then this guy comes around the back of the TV vans where we were perched and asks if he can stand in the middle,I of course told him he was too big and the bloody thing would break but then he says after a few exchanges of words that ‘his’ horse was running in the next race!
Right you stand in the middle I suggest so up he climbs, the tables creaking but by this time the race is being run so I’m half expecting an almighty crash in between watching what we could see on the screen I’m drilling him on ‘his’ horses chances in the next race.It turns out to be bloodyValient
and goes and wins at 8/1,’his’ horse turns out to be a Highclere horse but he gave it a good shout and guess who never had a penny on?
I do miss the craic between you and Reet though!

Reet hard

May 20, 2012 at 20:20 #404967did you not get any photos of Ginger?…..

To be honest Nath the thought never crossed my mind! Bearing in mind there was 16,000 folk there,so I’m told it was going to be like finding a needle in a Haystack trying to spot him alas it was like spotting a Carrot in a field of Barley it took Joni and myself all of 30 seconds to find who we thought could only be him so we confidently strode up to this guy with short Ginger hair and said to each other ‘You ask’ we were like 2 naughty schoolkids who had instantly realised how do you approach someone with Ginger hair without offending them thankfully Joni being experienced in Pshycology took the reigns and muttered ‘Are you the Ginger Tw*t off TRF,well it was like something off a movie.Time stood still as the Ginger one slowly turned like Clint Eastwood with a cigar you could hang a door on hanging out one corner of his snarling mouth and quipped ‘Who’s Askin’?. I felt the warmth of urine running down my leg and forming a puddle on what was already described as Gd/Sft going,It was Heavy now,I looked at Joni for reassurance and he confidently spoke the 2 words that saved our Bacon…..David Cormack! That broke the Ice and we chatted like Old Pals thereafter!
May 20, 2012 at 21:00 #404972The Golden Jubilee is one of those races I love to target,
Bronterre
would have been my confident 1st choice but it looks like the Hannons think he is a miler,I’m convinced he’s not and he would be my Jersey Stakes banker now!
Bated Breath
however has the form in the book to be a major sprint contender again this year and as a 5yo now could still be improving a bit like his half brother ‘Cityscape’ is doing.I’m not one for falling for Australian hype so 1/2 ‘Black Caviar’ doesn’t concern me,she’s not here yet anyway so nows the time to be taking a very generous 14/1 with Corals about the Beckhampton inmate!

Value Is EverythingMay 21, 2012 at 10:33 #405017TAPK: Some awesome shots there and sounds like you had a great day! What a sight Frankel is when in full flow.
Took some Evens that he stays undefeated this season with Billys

Less than 2 weeks until my highlight of the Flat Season, yeee haaa cannot wait! You will have to be my guest next year on the Downs in the Household Division Enclosure
It’s a great day all round mateMay 21, 2012 at 10:35 #405018BTW hottest trainer at the moment is no other than Marcus Tregoning

Keep an eye on his runners, they are all improving and must be well weighted after a couple od quiet seasons!

It’s a great day all round mateYou will be hoping
Frankel
stays at a mile then GDC as there’s obviously nothing to touch him over it! If Henry has total faith in his horses ability then he will contest the Eclipse, its still a more prestigious race to win than the Juddmonte but I’ll tell yo now mate if he wants to be
The Greatest horse of all time
he has to not only contest the Eclipse,he has to win it convincingly,he then ought to by Historical accounts run in the King George,I’ll let him off that one though so long as he does run in at least a Juddmonte then the prize that defines Great from all time Great racehorses The Arc! If he wins that he’s the Greatest ever Racehorse ever! Ever, ever and another ever! ‘Noble Mission’ will pave the way for the ultimate test by confirming along the way that he gets the 11/2m by winning the ‘King Edward’ at Royal Ascot, once he’s done that Sir Henry will get the reassurance he needs to step The worlds Greatest Miler up to the trip that decides All Time Greats.I was fortunate enough to get up close to the worlds greatest Miler on Saturday,he was fortunate enough to get close up to the worlds greatest Judge of a horse,we had a moment together that was emotional, mutual respect probably sums it up!! I need a sec to compose myself!
May 21, 2012 at 11:43 #405022Sorry about that there GDC,its a spiritual thing! Anyway You said last year I was going to be your guest of honour after
Captain Dunne
did us proud,he’s still the class horse in the race who will be placed again so long as the ground is on the fast side, however I’m very cofident about
Jamesway
now he’s a 4yo but the draw will play a crucial part as it does down that fast 5f,fingers crossed mate! By the way next time I venture up to my old hunting ground I’ll give you the nod,I’d like to keep my 100% record intact!
Its easier crossing the Swale on a line than picking winners around there!
May 21, 2012 at 12:31 #405034Well hopefully both will get a high draw, just watched the last few runnings again and that camber catches so many horses out, one minute the ones drawn low are coming to win the race and then they are 3 to 4 lengths down. It is vital IMO to gain that high draw, CONFESSIONAL should he turn up will make them all go too, 4lb better off with Captain Dunne and appears to be in better form this season but i still theink he is Temple bound!!
Would be great to meet you up here in Sunny Catterick but for next years Derby we will have to get arrangements made for the Big Day. Meet you at London Bridge and have a good old natter on the train out to Surrey

I was carried out on a Stretcher Ginge! Newbury infirmary were very good at glueing my teeth back in though and I got Ice Cream and Jelly from a beautiful Nurse who said I’d be stiff in the morning!!
The lengths you go to for ‘The Best Horse in the world’ eh!
May 22, 2012 at 18:04 #405157Nice pics they are Gord any thoughts on the racing at weekend.

darren,its all about
Parish Hall
and
Masamah
for me next weekend. My Kings Stand horse will hopefully emulate ‘Prohibit’ by running in the Temple Stakes at Haydock too!

Masamah
did enough last year to tell me he was still on the upgrade,he likes to hit the gate running which is the complete opposite to ‘Prohibit’ but a piece of course form is always crucial to put a tick in the right box and ‘Masamah’ did just that as a 4yo against non other than ‘Prohibit’ himself and he gave him 2lb and a 2 length beating. No 40/1 with Victor this year but 56’s on the machine is too big!
Masamah
