I read Kieran Fallons book over the summer. Assuming life is the same these days, jockeys don’t get treated very well at all generally. Owners and Trainers want to win, whose riding their horse is secondary to winning. That is also their right to be fair. There’s a lot of money at stake for one thing. If hello youmzain was the best horse and a better jockey was available than Kevin Stott, it would be almost foolish not to go with the better jockey.
People generally still underestimate how important the jockeys are. There was no guarantee HY would’ve won if Kevin Stott rode him. Therefore it would’ve been a risky strategy for Kevin Ryan to have gone with him when a better jockey was available. That would’ve needed some explanation to the owners had Kevin Stott rode him and lost. They’d be looking to pull HY from the yard perhaps.
It’s not worth any risk. There’s no sentiment in this game.
Kevin Stott is young. He should take it as motivation to keep his head down, keep riding winners, keep riding the best he can, keep learning and believing in himself and he’ll get those group 1 winners in time if he’s good enough.
September 8, 2019 at 07:28 #1453147What does ‘bumped start’ mean in reference to Dream of Dreams run? Is this a horse racing term or it means he was ‘bumped into at the start’ ?
September 8, 2019 at 08:07 #1453149I hadnt realised that you had read Kieran Fallons book over the summer. Had i have known then I would certianly have taken your advice much more seriously.
“People generally still underestimate how important the jockeys are.”I will bear this in mind in the future. I think you have helped a lot of people on the forum with those wise words and Im certain that all appreciate such wisdom.
September 8, 2019 at 08:44 #1453150Oh I thought you were going to ignore me Potato? My post was more to the open forum in case anybody was reading your comments and thought they made sense.

You mock me, but actually you need to take that advice yourself pal. How would you think Kevin Stott was on a better horse @ 40/1 that’s run 30 times and won only a listed race than James Doyle @ 7s and backed into favourtism thats run only 6 times in its life? You carry on with that logic and you better have a deep bank balance!
It was blatantly obvious to pretty much everyone that Hello Youmzain was the number 1 horse of Kevin Ryans, just not yours. You post with such confidence which you claim is “your style” but actually you just make yourself come across like you have no idea what you’re doing or saying and rambling like some crazy man.
Contrary to what you think, I have no agenda against you, have only been posting since April this year, do it for some intelligent horse racing discussion (something I lack from you frankly) and to learn some new things.
I couldn’t care less about you. You’re one of those people that get off on having arguments on line with strangers instead of debating sensibly. You say you want to debate, but you don’t, you just kick off at the first sign of someone wanting to engage in debate with you. Frankly thats sad and I think you do get off on it and probably are the type of person that needs to get out a little more.
That behaviour ain’t for me mate, so will for sure ignore you completely now.
Good luck with your dead certs.
September 8, 2019 at 08:52 #1453151Well done with your 3rd place Hein, good tipping there
my tip goes to Hello Youmzain, think a few on here have underestimated his chances..Blackbeard to conquer the World
September 8, 2019 at 09:00 #1453153Im going to refuse to remind you that my 66/1 no hoper in fact finished ahead of both of your selections that were two of the 3 co favourites in the race.
Major Jumbo was an excellent bet at 66/1 pre race. Im more than happy with the bet.
In fact Blue Point was one of the horses of the year winning two group 1s at Royal Ascot. But Dream Of Dreams almost beat Blue Point at Ascot.
Major Jumbo beat Dream of Dreams yesterday so is clearly better or at least as good as Blue Point.I think the gelding Major Junbo would clearly make a great sire as would the filly from O’Brien fairyland. I would just retire the pair to stud and see if either of them can sire any future group 1 winners. Looks the road to go down imo.
If Blue Point can make big money as a sire then why not that pair also?
September 8, 2019 at 09:17 #1453154Dream of Dreams took a slight nudge at the start, I don’t think it was major enough to stop his chances.
It was the Tin Man he bumped/nudged with and it didn’t stop him from running his race, Dream of Dreams didn’t go much of a yard afterwards and if it was because of the nudge then he’d have to go down as a bit of a wimp, could be down to the going perhaps.? I know he has won on it but was 13th/14 last time he ran on soft and 2nd/4 when odds on the time before that. Was a shame both Ten Sovereigns and Advertised didn’t run as both have stand out performances this season.
Khadeem looked to be going really well before coming last..
To be fair Hein your Waldpfad ran a cracker, was running on well at the end when others were spent and that is a good sign in these races, I think I’d be looking at the Prix Foret with him if he were mine if the going wasn’t too soft, I think that would be more winnable than the Champions sprint.Blackbeard to conquer the World
September 8, 2019 at 09:27 #1453157That was my take also Nathan. If there is an excuse there I’d like to find it to make him backable again at Ascot for the Champions Sprint, but at the moment I don’t see it. MS said he’s better on soft, so don’t think it was the ground. In fact he ran very much like he did at Newmarket, which was that of a very average horse. The Ascot run now looks almost confirmed that they all went off too fast after Kachy, didn’t last home and DOD outstayed them to finish second. Blue Point is a 5F horse as optimal and only his brilliance got him home over a stiff 6 at Ascot but he clearly was completely done in the last half furlong which is the only reason DOD finished so close.
Khadeem looks really good I think, can easily excuse that on the basis he might well have hated the ground. He is a top of the ground horse, needs it fast and with Charlie Hills training him and knowing his sprinters so well lately I really fancy him next year at Royal Ascot on proper fast ground. He travelled into the race looking like he was a top race horse and just didn’t pick up on the ground.
September 8, 2019 at 10:43 #1453163Well done Jack and Chivers with the winner.
Kris, nice early 20’s on The Tin Man, and Grass, well done on the two late Each Ways.
September 8, 2019 at 12:19 #1453171Thank you Nathan,
I was modest and stuck to each waySeptember 8, 2019 at 14:30 #1453190Well done Jack and Chivers
And Kris with the second too!!
And Hein with the thirdSeptember 9, 2019 at 14:05 #1453236Tattie, i asked that you stop posting essays and let the result do the talking because you were going too far with the thread.
I’m all for seeing good opinions and in depth posts but you took over this thread trying to turn people and for me went too far. I agree that opinions are healthy etc. but you don’t seem to take anyone else’s opinion onboard – Just like you did with the RSA thread in March when everyone was wrong but yourself.September 9, 2019 at 15:22 #1453242Thanks for the input Kevmc.
Im going to completely change my persona and mindset just because some randoms off the internet dont like it. Here is my new posting style for the 3 20 brighton:
The odds on favourite should win this but Prescots Ramatuelle could win if getting the breaks.
Royal Dancer and Expo could get involved if on going days.
Risk Mitigation and Miss Green could go well at bigger odds.
Atlanta Breeze shouldnt be ruled out on hcap debut.
50/1 Mystical Jadeite is a big price who may or may not go well. (though 100/1 would have been a bigger price.
Hopefully my horse runs really well but if it doesnt then I hope somebody elses does.
September 9, 2019 at 15:28 #1453243Atlanta Breeze wins at 12/1.
I told you it shouldnt be ruled out.

September 11, 2019 at 16:16 #1453421I see connections are saying they think Khadeem suffered a foot problem in this race
Blackbeard to conquer the World
September 11, 2019 at 21:58 #1453444This wasn’t a top class 6f Group 1. Commonwealth/Maurice winner Advertise and July Cup winner Ten Sovereigns missing and Blue Point retired. The Tin Man had looked as though age had caught up with him. Doubt he was at his very best but did have good market support on Saturday, suggesting a better performance was expected… And Haydock on soft ground suits the Fanshawe horse perfectly. Both he and third Waldfpad came from well back in the field. Latter quickly returned to form, softer surface seemingly important to the German colt. Winner helped by three with better form, Brando, Khadeem and Dream Of Dreams not showing their form. Khadeem on the ground, Brando with a physical problem amd DOD slowly in to stride and samwitched between Brando and The Tin Man. Just because TTM ran well doesn’t mean DOD wasn’t adversely affected; in a barging match one usually comes off worse than the other. Jubilee form may not be quite what it seemed at the time. Blue Point didn’t need to run to his Kings Stand best, just hanging on over a stiff 6f and Katchy went too fast early-on – so both winner and third below form. That said, DOD beat the other Jubilee runners a long way and is better than managed since; might be an Ascot specialist. Hello Youmzain seemed suited by making all at Haydock, not that there was any strategic positional/sectional advantage, just being ridden prominently suits him so well. Probably would’ve been closer to Advertise at Ascot had he been more prominently ridden. Being slower away there made that impossible. Although Stott has a good record on the horse, it’s not surprising a “better”/more consistent jockey was sought for this race and Doyle did the job perfectly. Nobody knows whether Stott would’ve been as successful so criticism of the change seems strange to me. Sprint Cup wasn’t a top class 6f Group 1, however Hello Youmzain is going the right way. Still with some physical scope and if progressing at the same rate will be a danger to all in the Champion Sprint.
Value Is EverythingSeptember 11, 2019 at 22:37 #1453492If Ryan trusts Stott to ride his day in day out winners and he has ridden more winners for Ryan than anyone else in the last 5 years then he should show his jockey some respect and put him on the horse. when you realise Stott rode the horse in 5 of his 6 races and won at group level on him and never finished out of the places then its wrong he got jilted for the man who had been unplaced on him on his only previous ride.
I have no idea how anybody could think that opinion to be a strange one.
So Dream of Dreams is now 0 from 16 at group level 1-2-3. Yet still they make excuses. This time he was bumped. Ok then
If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck then its fair to assume it is a duck.
