That’s a great photo the middle one.
A shame the jockey hasn’t got a blue cap on as the white one blends too much into the background. The top one is a beaut aswell

August 30, 2015 at 17:38 #1188320Well done Nath. Even more satisfying when the BTTS come in.
Mine went down as soon as whittaker was sent off for Norwich although I dont think it would have made any difference – but like you say with these speculative doubles you only need one to stick.

If I had a nice camera like yours Nathan I could have photo shopped it…LOL or alternatively I could have asked James Doyle if he wouldn’t mind ducking down a bit while I took my piccy or just swapping with Buick on Powder Snow for a moment.
She’s a lovely filly and won cosily but as for the Rockfel there are one or two that could be better.
Jac
The top one of Tabarrak looks like the lad is saying…’Yeah yeah so this time you have to come 2nd but once Nathan gets that job at Hannon’s yard he could be the one leading you into the winners enclosure’.Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...August 31, 2015 at 10:04 #1189632Frankie Dettori has just the one ride at Newcastle 2.25 today for Al Shaqab racing and Marco Botti
SHAHBAR currently around 9/4 looks to have a good chance if acting on the ground.Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...August 31, 2015 at 10:53 #1189678Frankie Dettori has just the one ride at Newcastle 2.25 today for Al Shaqab racing and Marco Botti
SHAHBAR currently around 9/4 looks to have a good chance if acting on the ground. With the form your in Jac, I’ve stuck Shahbar in a double with Cuppatee in the 2y/o race at Ripon.
It’s a poor race and the Canford Cliffs horse looks just about the best of a bad lot.Blackbeard to conquer the World
August 31, 2015 at 12:47 #1189863Had to join you in a Cuppatee Nathan in our house the kettle is constantly on the boil.
I have backed Shahbar to win but now he is in a Trixie with Cuppatee 2.00 Ripon and Canford Cliffs other baby Holy Grail in the 2.35 Ripon, I’m hoping Johnston’s horse doesn’t handle the ground in that one.
Good luck

Lets hope she is brought in after that performance.
Now it’s up to Frankie to keep the kettle boiling.Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...August 31, 2015 at 17:20 #1190191Frankie enjoyed the tea too much and left Luke Morris to be pilot.
Shahbar never looked relaxed or comfortable in the race yet still finished close enough in third.Blackbeard to conquer the World
September 1, 2015 at 10:29 #1191259I missed the race Nathan I was working and tuned in at 2.45 when the race was off at 2.25…just in time to see Shahbar finishing the pace he was going
Hope you did Cuppatee on her own (I didn’t) but she made a brave run..Apparently there was no bid for the winner but the 2nd horse Fumbo Jumbo was claimed for £6000.
Sorry about Shahbar, the bookies must have raked it in for that one.Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...September 1, 2015 at 13:54 #1191556I went in again on Cuppatee when she went out to 2/1, crazy price. Like finding a blind tramp in the street with a guitar case full on coins and dropping 30p in a picking out a pound, not that I would do that but you get the point.
I would have bought her if I had the cash, I would make you trainer Jac, SteveCaution work rider, Darren public relations speaker and wolfie to sort out her race program. I wouldn’t worry about Shahbar and certainly no need to say sorry, I back enough losers of my own to take much notice of anyone elses…..Blackbeard to conquer the World
September 1, 2015 at 23:52 #1192318Wouldn’t it have been great if TRF could have all clubbed together and made a bid for her as our Forum horse, I would love to do something like that with a filly with such great breeding. No idea why she made the move from Mick Channons yard.
Glad you lumped on the 2/1 Nathan it was a great price.
If I had the chance to train her I would have to say she really only has one race left in her this year as a 2yo so wolfie would have to start planning for her 3yo campaign.
If I’d have been Richard Hughes I would have jumped at the chance to have her in the yard for next season, interesting to see where she goes next as she’s really only won Class 6 races this year, but she would be a lot of fun to own..Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...September 2, 2015 at 12:27 #1193261Steve just to add if you go to general sports i started a thread with new NFL season you added a lot there last season so sure you do the same again
Any thoughts on 2yo 1m race at weekend i think SEA OF MYSTERY ran well Oxx normally trains 2yo like this he should add a maiden win on next start could be a derby horse next year though
September 2, 2015 at 19:27 #1193406Thursday 6f Dick Poole Fillies Stakes @ Salisbury 345
This race has an exciting filly under the tutelage of Richard Fahey by the name of Mayfair Lady. She won last time out in decisive style, beating Tawaaq by 5 lengths and more notably had the Mark Johnstone trained Whitman a further 3/4 of a length back in 3rd.
She was giving Mayfair Lady a generous 8lbs on good to soft ground but it was still an impressive victory and with the going (currently soft) likely to be good to soft in places at least, it should put Mayfair Lady in a favourable position. Whitman has since come up trumps at listed level and gives the collateral form a real boost.
The form looks excellent considering Whitman beat Tim Easterby’s Still On Top on Monday and that one finished half a length behind Haggas’s Tasleet at the York festival. Tasleet was only a couple of lengths off the super impressive Shalaa at Glorious Goodwood and all these lines of form are over 6f.This isn’t an easy race to win though as Richard Hannon runs recent listed winner (5f) on soft Whatdoiwantthatfor (3 lengths behind Besharah at Ascot) and Henry Candy has potential with La Rioja and thinks easier ground will suit.
I can’t shy away from Mayfair Lady here though and was about to grab 2/1 with Coral at 530pm until it was snatched away at the last minute to go 7/4
PaddyPower are still offering 15/8.September 2, 2015 at 21:27 #1193617Steve just to add if you go to general sports i started a thread with new NFL season you added a lot there last season so sure you do the same again

Hi Darren, I’ll probably get round to checking out the NFL thread shortly. I haven’t had much time to catch up with all the player transfers and injuries yet but should get there soon.
I fancied Stellar Mass as the each-way value at 5/1 early doors in Sea Of Mystery’s race and he was done in a blanket finish. The winner Beacon Rock needed every inch of the race that day and looks a dour staying type in the mould of Hans Holbein and may be the sort of horse we will see in the Chester Vase next spring.
I was slightly disappointed that Sea Of Mystery didn’t get a bit closer to the leading four home. To be honest, they would all need to be pretty good to make such a blanket finish encouraging looking forward.
As you say, John Oxx is very patient and brings them along slowly but I think it might be dangerous to keep looking for these Sea The Stars youngsters to follow in the footsteps of their father. John Oxx is generally a rare sight at Epsom, so he wouldn’t be one I am pencilling in for the Derby.
I haven’t seen a colt I could really say I would be interested in backing for Epsom at the moment. There are some bizarre horses in the betting at the moment, for example, Michael Stoute’s Forge, who is 33/1, yet was well beaten 7th of 16 on his only start. That hardly screams “back me” to my ears.
Forced to pick an outsider now I would opt for William Haggas’ Recorder at 50/1. Third on his debut he won his last two in the style of a progressive stayer in the making. By Galileo out of Memory, his group 3 Acomb win at York would have seen him a lot shorter than 50/1 were he trained by Aidan O’ Brien. Rated 105, further progress with the step up in trip would see him far from a ridiculous proposition for the Derby. To put it into perspective, Haggas’ Derby horse this year, Storm The Stars, finished his 2yo season as an 89 rated maiden. Recorder has made a good start, and if he progresses he could surprise a few at big odds.
I am still waiting to see one of my early picks San Francisco from the O’Brien yard. He is prominent in the Derby betting now but I see his upcoming entries are the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster and the National Stakes at The Curragh, a group 2 and group 1 that look highly unlikely debut races for a 2yo.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
September 2, 2015 at 23:35 #1193720Been waiting for La Rioja to come out again and she runs in the 3.45 at Salisbury later today.
Taking a line through Alamode, who ran 4th to La Rioja and who has recently won a Class 2 race beating Winter Rose and Promising Run, who won at Newmarket last Friday, she looks to have a reasonable chance here at around 4/1. WhatdoIwantthatfor is the one I fear most as she has run in some good class races against high class fillies such as Besharah and she will love the ground.Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...September 3, 2015 at 15:32 #1195872Been waiting for La Rioja to come out again and she runs in the 3.45 at Salisbury later today.

La Rioja’s race had been working out well and she fairly scooted in today. You got the forecast into the bargain as well.
Certainly a promising sort La Rioja but is Henry Candy to be trusted to take her forward? I have seen too many of his promising sorts fail at three and Limato has been disappointing slightly after a highly encouraging start this year.
Mayfair Lady was disappointing. I have never been one for following Richard Fahey 2yo’s, he’s just not a trainer I associate with ending up in a Guineas with a real live contender. Wootton Bassett was a recent example of this and Birchwood has had a couple of stinky ones this year after looking promising.
I noticed my old friend Bahaarah in the race today but she had a lot to do on the ratings in this class. After saying that I thought a mile would suit her, I was surprised to see her dropped to 6f today and going up in class. Add in a ride where they held her up at what looked an inadequate trip, and the Hannon team got exactly what they deserved in the form of a total no show and the waste of an entry. Hard to see the thought process there.
La Rioja looks potentially Group 1 after that but the Candy Caveat applies for me anyway.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
September 3, 2015 at 21:03 #1196097Thanks Steve, after being lit up at the beginning of the race and a bit of argy bargy, she quickened away in great style from her rivals for an impressive win. La Rioja has been lightly raced and waited with by Henry Candy and is developing into a nice progressive filly and as you say has Group 1 potential.
I was working today but managed to tune into Paddy Power to watch the race and they showed the pre-race interview with Lydia Hislop and Henry Candy where he stated that she will be aimed towards the 6f sprints and although holding an entry in the Moyglare will not go for that one, which leaves The 2yo Trophy at Redcar in a months time. Henry Candy also stated that La Rioja absolutely hates fast ground so Indian Summers are out of the question for this fillys 2yo finale.Totally agree with you about Bahaarah Steve 7f to a mile is definitely her trip.
Keep an eye out for Alamode next time she runs along with Promising Run.I’ve really enjoyed watching the 2yo’s develop throughout this season and heading towards the top 2yo end of season high class races I think all contributors to this thread have pinpointed some promising fillies and colts to follow in 2016 with hopefully one or two classic winners amongst them, keep up the good work..
