    Many thanks guys, much appreciated.

I’ve nothing much more to say on Tiger Roll. He’s a Gold Cup horse, carrying a cracking weight. He’s the best horse in the race, and he’s halfway down the field. He could fall or get knocked over, but if he stands up, he really should win

Me too Lemons thats two non runners no bets for me so far so will have to add another one now and have added VIEUX LION ROUGE at 33/1.

Bet365 offer is brilliant it is half price betting!!

Not a race I enjoy all that much, but I always have a flutter for the sake of it.

This year I’m going in single handedly with Captain Redbeard.

Forecast now has heavy rain early morning. Which has probably scuppered my thoughts earlier in the week for some good to soft.

That forecast was for North West England. Aintree racecourse saying 2mm of drizzle overnight.

I’ve looked and looked at this, and I have too many questions marks about all of them. This never happens!

When I used to follow the sport as an interested outsider, I used to have strong views. These days, I feel I know too much about all of them, having watched them and read and listened to so much, that I am put off even my favourite characters. Tiger Roll? Too small. Not classy enough. Total Recall? Distance. Blaklion? But last year… etc etc

Gutted that Rathvinden didn’t go, as that would have saved me looking for something else.

I cannot not have a bet – there have only been a couple of years since 1976 that I have not been on in the race – one horse each renewal only, two at a push. Still, I’ll take more in and pop a little bit on one of them, I’m sure. I could not be one of those who has something on each of the first 20 in the betting, plus five more outsiders, then boasts about having had the winner again…

Apologies if this has already been posted (I’m sure it has), but the last four winners have all been second season chasers. I think that’s an interesting angle, and the horses who fit into that criteria would appear to have claims:

    Anibale Fly
    Alpha Des Obeaux
    The Dutchman
    Virgilio
    I Just Know
    Childrens List
    Captain Redbeard
    Final Nudge

    Reserves:
    Delusionsofgrandeur
    Vintage Clouds

Oh fgs, after looking again this morning, I was coming to the final conclusion that I’d probably back Minella Rocco…Oh well, saved me that loss I suppose.

Pity that Gigginstown got two more in – when horse rated the same should be the owner with the fewest runners in the 40 gets in. (huge safety wink).

Like Degaussed’s line about second-season chasers which is just confusing me even more!!

I thought a lot of Minella Rocco too Quelle Farce, I had him ante post for the Gold cup
but he was pulled out of that too because of the ground. I’ve been waiting for him to be
pulled out of this all week, he would never have got round with top weight on ground like
this. I’m glad I didn’t go in early on him again for this.

I would have loved to see Mysteree still in this, he would revel in a marathon in these
conditions. I doubt he’ll get it as heavy at Ayr, even though it’s raining now it’s not
forecast for the rest of the week and the temperature looks to be on the up. Oh well

What a brilliant preview that is Venture, a fine read.

I am pleased that Bless The Wings + Warriors tale have made it. Now to add another 2 but it won’t be easy
