Well done all those who tipped/backed the winner!
Kicking meself really as he was a horse I really fell for when he won at Wetherby when I was there…deserted him today as I thought he was a shade disappointing in the Tolworth and although I know novices have a good recent record I feared the size and strength of the field would be against him today.
Was really impressive and won it well…I can’t wait to this lad over a fence…could well be looking at a serious Arkle contender for 2019!
February 10, 2018 at 20:53 #1341684Yes indeed that was a good result, my best result of the season in fact having got on at 14s earlier in the week and the old Racing Post got an almighty thrashing against the grandstand up the run-in. I’m also sat on Kalashnikov at 20/1 for the Supreme which is an added bonus. I was quite surprised by the authoritive display after the last and given connections are adamant he’s a much better horse on a sound surface he could well win that.
Well done all other backers of the winner.
February 10, 2018 at 21:29 #1341692Same here, Zamorston. Backed him at Wetherby but the trainer has consistently mentioned the going as a factor at Sandown so I put a line through him for this race
Congrats to those who backed him.
I thought there were a couple in behind who’d be interesting in the Martin Pipe.
February 10, 2018 at 22:21 #1341701Little voiced stable confidence and it seems to have put quite a few off. Trainer looked delighted but not that surprised afterwards and the real strength of his chance was, not for the first time, reflected in the market. What price would he have started on good going?
I wouldn’t have backed him anyway as I thought the Sandown race would leave a mark on him, but he showed today how tough he is and must have a fine chance at the festival.
February 12, 2018 at 12:46 #1341861Zamorston; I’m kicking myself about Kalashnikov; I, too was at Wetherby on Charlie Hall day and usually make a note of horses to take forward for the season [Cole Harden was one] but, for some reason Kalashnikovs win passed over my head. All I can assume is that I was really nervous about Cue Cards race and also Lady Buttons later in the afternoon. Wrong ground notwithstanding, this is a horse that I should have made a mental note of #mustbelosingtheplot
