October 7, 2017 at 14:43 #1320554As I mentioned earlier, I thought Nathra was overpriced, so I’ve had a covering

Fine ride by Moore on Roly Poly taking that earlier position and to a large extent controlling the race and keeping enough in the tank. Well done all RP backers.
October 7, 2017 at 15:12 #1320568I backed RP just before the off at 5.1, so I’m happy enough. However, once again I’m left questioning tactics Barzalona’s tactics. In my opinion he’s a bit like Jamie Spencer, except without the good days. Am I being totally ridiculous here by not rating him at all?
October 7, 2017 at 15:25 #1320570Cheers guys. Wanted to be on a prominent runner in the Cumberland Lodge and was delighted Sean went to the front. Very difficult to come from the back where there didn’t look much pace in the race… And DK always finds plenty. ie Jockeys on hold up horses don’t realise how much he’s got left in the tank – don’t challenge early enough. tbh Although both Persuasive and Nathra ran well for me, I made a big mistake! Everything above regarding Danehill Kodiac applies to Roly Poly. Form may not be great, but position in a race like that is all important. Considering likely pace I was wrong to back Qemah and should’ve had a saver on the obvious front runner.

I’m not a fan of MB myself, Degassed. However, Usherette isn’t easy; just likes to be held up and so is a hostage to what rivals do. That’s the way she’s won all her best races. After the Royal Ascot debacle connections changed tactics in the Rothschild – leading her group. Usherette never looked happy and disappointed. Not sure if she needs to come through horses. Can she race on the outside to come around the pack? If positioned there in this race the going may not be as good nearer the centre of the track at Newmarket today. So Barz also has to take that in to account. Does she need to race from so far back? Has won from mid-div last season, but the more racing she’s had, the more she seems to want hold up tactics and might not like it in even mid-div nowadays. First prerogative for a jockey on Usherette is to actually get behind horses. If the pace is unlikely to suit then it may be best for punters to look elsewhere. In a strongly run race it would be no surprise to see Usherette return to her very best, coming through late to win.
Value Is EverythingOctober 7, 2017 at 17:25 #1320590WD Roly Poly backers, what a good ride she was given also. War Front’s doing well this year

WD Ginge on your winner today also.
October 7, 2017 at 17:35 #1320592AOB has won 7 of the 8 Mile European Group 1 races for fillies and mares.
Winter: 1000 Guineas, Irish 1000 Guineas and Coronation Stakes.
Roly Poly: Falmouth, Rothschild and Sun Chariot.
Hydrangea: Matron. Also having the one-two in more than half of them. One-two-three in two.
Only one that didn’t go the way of Coolmore being the French Guineas.

That’s pretty special. I get bored with Starters Orders 6 for having such dominance, but it’s clearly not unrealistic!
October 7, 2017 at 21:28 #1320627I backed Roly Poly to win @ 9/2 , in the belief that when push came to shove , Ryan Moore’s strength and determination in the saddle would see his filly prevail .
In the event , I thought Moore rode like the champion he is : but for his brilliant assistance , I’m less convinced that Roly Poly would have got her head in front . For me , one of his best rides of the season thus far .

October 7, 2017 at 22:09 #1320628Fantastic ride by Ryan Moore taking Roly Poly out to lead and bringing her across to the stands rail.
AOB and team were walking the course whilst the fillies sprint was taking place on the far side track and that must have been where they decided the best ground could be found, three races later it was tipping it down and that ground would have softened significantly. Great to see Roly Poly again even though I didn’t back her, she was the tiniest filly in the race but what a little pocket rocket she is. John Gosden’s Persuasive (2nd) is a stunning looking grey by Dark Angel and Nathra (3rd) ran her usual honest race, I backed her each way at 20/1 so pleased with that result too.Best looking filly in the parade ring head and shoulders above them all was Usherette, she looked amazing today so different from when she came over for the Falmouth Stakes last year and looked dull in her coat, this time her coat was gleaming and she was well in herself. Very unlucky not to have played a major part in the finish but worth following if she turns out again.
Well done to all RP supporters and to BigG Graham for Nathra 20/1 a great price, the two Gosden fillies ran well today it was hard to split them in truth Nathra should not have been that price…great race and a great day out today even though it was hammering down with rain by the end of the day.
Will have to stop backing against these O’Brien horses now the front running tactics have been adopted and seems to be working out really well.

Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...October 8, 2017 at 09:27 #1320655Roly Poly & Usherette heading to the Breeders Cup by the sound of things. With trouble in running an absolute given (due to the terrible courses in the US and why the whole meeting is a farce) Roly Poly’s ability to be effective from the front and on a quick surface should see her go there with a big chance. I assume it’ll be in the Filly & Mare Turf (8/1) but with Rhododendron already being aimed there and Coolmore seemingly not having anything for the Mile I wouldn’t be having any money down just yet.
October 8, 2017 at 09:46 #1320659well done RP backers and fair play to moore getting across to the rails
