Yeah, totally agree Nath, and if he’s running, I might just go along this year, would like to be there if he won it
February 13, 2017 at 18:38 #1287255You’re right that often Irish Gold Cups take a lot out of a horse, Stilvi. Although it probably won’t be as bad this year as they didn’t go as strong a pace. EOD does have a very reasonable record with a fairly quick return.
UDS is certainly no longer value; convinced he needs to race with a clear view of fences. If there’s more than one other front runner taking him on is likely to be too free.Value Is EverythingFebruary 13, 2017 at 18:41 #1287258Tomorrow see’s the weights announced and I’m hoping that Carole’s Destrier & Vicente are given good weights.
You've got to accentuate the positive.
Eliminate the negative.
Latch on to the affirmative.
Don't mess with mister in between.February 13, 2017 at 21:23 #1287295The absence of Silvinaco Conti, Holywell and Double Ross leaves me with a shortlist of 4; Houblon Des Obeaux, O’Faolains Boy, Vieux Lion Rouge and More Of That.
Just wondering if Curtis is ever going to get him out…well handicapped (you’d hope/imagine!) and different gravy to most of these.
He lives! Has entries.

Haha yeah i saw he’s entered on the 18th. I’ve gone ew at 66’s and had a dabble on the exchanges at 70’s. That price will collapse considerably if he gets something around 10:10 in the weights and runs well in the interim.
I’m really hopeful of Houblon Des Obeaux getting a nice weight tomorrow. I think he’s rated 149? That should also get him in just under the 11 stone mark, which makes for a very interesting proposition.
I’ve had a good look at the entries and ratings and i reckon Tour Des Champs should be around the mid/late 60’s in the handicap, which might just see him scrape in. I couldn’t resist the 100’s that turned up on the exchanges just now.
I’m expecting most of the prices to contract tomorrow, so I’ve started my ‘book’

More Of That 50s and 40s
Houblon Des Obeaux 66s
O’faolains Boy 70s and 66s
Vieux Lion Rouge 27s and 20s
Tour Des Champs 100s, 95s and 50sFebruary 14, 2017 at 03:11 #1287326One for Arthur to get a good weight please
Still think he and ADO for RSA are two huge prices that have stood out more than most bets every year antepost in the markets.
One for Arthur reminds me of the last samurai last year. A good horse who, when stepped up in trip absolutely routed everything.
TLS, unfortunately for me, was beaten into second last year by the ground. I maintain that, had it not rained, he’d have won by 10 lengths.
This time around, One for Arthur is a horse who handles the rain should the heavens open.
A nice low weight but enough to get in comfortably (which he will) will have me going in yet again at the 20s
February 14, 2017 at 20:26 #1287417One for arthur gets 10-06,Horse number 45….Cause of Causes 10-08 for the big one.Horse number 31
Horse 24 Blaklion gets 10-10,another player….And the Winner is More of that with 11-01 and he’ll be my first ever 1000/1 winner….What about that then Bob?February 14, 2017 at 20:39 #1287419Having watched the first half of the live feed of the reveal and read Racing Posts twitter; disastrous is the only word that comes to mind in regards to this new concept. Thank God ITV weren’t convinced to broadcast this train wreck for the country to see.
February 14, 2017 at 20:54 #1287426So Mr Smith thinks a horse placed in two grand nationals and second in last years Scottish national shouldn’t get a run but the likes of Pendra and co should ,I despair
February 14, 2017 at 21:28 #1287429Peter, It was painful
February 14, 2017 at 21:28 #1287431Very happy Gord

More gutted that genuine 3m+ horses are being kept out by seriously doubtful stayers.
And my winner of the highest place horse I’d never heard of this year goes VERY high, number 10, Devil’s Bride.
BlueSky @pghenn.bsky.social
So don't run, just like the others always do
February 14, 2017 at 22:07 #1287438Gonna have to go with Definitely Red off a very fair mark of 10-07. Don Poli however could prove to be too classy for them off a stone higher.
February 14, 2017 at 22:35 #1287445I always bet 2 or 3 selections for The Grand National around Xmas and have a few pounds in the last few days
Blaklion 40-1
O’Faolains Boy 66-1
Measureofmydreams 40-1I wanted to add more after the poor run from MOMD in The Thyestes, but I will hold off. I am happy with the other two for now.
More than satisfied with my pair at the moment, although I know lots can go wrong. I will try to wait until NRNB, but very hard not to row in on another one.
February 14, 2017 at 23:06 #1287448After my extremely early and small antepost plays months ago on Vicente, The Last Samuri and One For Arthur (after his latest win as I said I would at the time), I’ve decided I’m now going to play weekly on One For Arthur.
His 10lb rise gets him in the National off 147, his target is the race and he won’t run again before it. For me, I’ll keep adding to the 40/1 I took after the race (cheers to the poster who highlighted that price at the time) now at 25s.
Was so close to success when doing this method last year with The Last Samuri and I’m convinced he’d have won on better ground. Perhaps this year, I’ll go one place better.
Main national play – One For Arthur
Great weight for One for Arthur

Devils bride has had some good summer form for Willie Mullins before moving to de bromhead this September. Would be worth a shout if the ground was very fast but has never won beyond 3 miles I think
February 14, 2017 at 23:40 #1287451I just had to look Devils Bride up too! He doesn’t appear to meet the “placed over three miles” requirement to run at present, though obviously there is still time.
Does anyone know what has happened to Otago Trail? He seems to have been entered but not allotted a weight.
