I too can’t get away from Harry Angel but at that price it is not for me .
I have had a few quid each way on TASLEET at 14/1 and THE TIN MAN at 8/1.
If Harry gets beat IMO it will be one of these two that do it. If not then I hope one or both of these will follow him home.October 19, 2017 at 17:33 #1322297On Quiet Reflection AP for this to win @ 25’s & 20’s
Backed her for Haydock AP also, and with the way the ground ended could well of given Harry a race there. The trainer said she was not “quite ready” and she ran in Ireland where she showed she was back, with an easy win over Alphabet who made it a real test of speed that day. Jeez she went off fast

Sounds as if Mr. Burke has been really patient with her and she goes to the sales after this race. The more rain the better, and if it came up soft or even better heavy has a great chance of winning.
October 19, 2017 at 19:04 #1322313Or perhaps Ginge, LIBRISA BREEZE who has a great turn of foot, and also has won up to 10f
might take advantage of the conditions and come through with a wet sail
Librisa Breeze carries the 7 lb penalty again, BigG…
If you know what I mean.
Although true, if it’s a stongly run race in those conditions then to wait and then wait and wait again just might pay off this time.GL
Value Is EverythingOctober 19, 2017 at 21:54 #1322340I think I’ll be prepared to give Brando another chance. He’s a bit of an in and out horse, and IF he comes back to form he should be second favourite. I certainly rather have him at 20/1 than Caravaggio at 4/1.
October 20, 2017 at 22:11 #1322514I’ve put Harry Angel in a double with St George which worked out at 3.29/1 and also taken the 5/4 in case the Order goes down on his sword.
This is surely the best sprinter on the planet and I can’t see anything but another demolition job. Caravaggio, Tasleet, The Tin Man, Quiet Reflection, et al are all worthy opponents but they’re requiring Harry to run below form. If someone was paying 4 places then I may have sought to back Tasleet each-way but at 1/5, 3 places that didn’t appeal as much.
October 20, 2017 at 22:24 #1322518The Tin Man is drifting like The Kontiki, out to 12/1, so it seems there has not been a “Raft” of bets for last year’s winner.
I fear The Tin Man may be foiled this year.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
October 20, 2017 at 23:32 #1322534The Tin Man looks decisively held by Harry Angel on the last two outings (beaten an average of 5 lengths), at the prices you’d rather throw a few quid at Tasleet or even Brando (who when he does win always seems to win at a good price)… I, as earlier mentioned have a bit EW on Librisa Breeze but if I’m honest a place would be a result on him, it’s more of a backing-an-old-friend type bet. I’m still weighing up whether to go in on Harry Angel or not (or possibly throw into a double with OOSG perhaps) – I think he’s as near a “good thing” as you’ll find in a top class sprint buuuuut it is a sprint after all, and the ground complicates things further.

I do indeed know what you mean Ginge, and no harm to Mr Winston, but I’d have been happy had he
had a totting up ban for an enforced holiday this week. I’m sure Dettori would rather be sitting
on him than Danzeno. Lets hope he doesn’t find a sealed in pocket that he’s managed to find in too
many of his races, if he doesn’t he might get the chance to show how good I think he is
October 21, 2017 at 10:41 #1322615If it wasn’t for the strong headwind I’d be backing front runner Harry Angel and laying Caravaggio. Horses slip streaming in a strongly run race in to a strong headwind have an advantage; and with two Coolmore “spoilers” to ensure there’s a strong pace… Bryan might scupper Harry.
If something racing prominently does win it’s going to be difficult to beat Harry, so have gone for three hold up horses each way.
The Tin Man 12/1 – Horses for courses. Fanshawe back in form.
Brando 28/1 – Excellent soft ground form and July Cup (sectionals)/Maurice De Gheest gives him a good chance (just needs to come back to that form).
Donjuan Triumphant 38/1 – “Handicappers” are often under-estimated, top class performance in a handicap last time on very soft ground and has run well in Group 1 company before.Value Is EverythingOctober 21, 2017 at 11:06 #1322622The question for me is how Harry Angel will cope with not one, not two but three Aidan O’Brien trained horses bothering him up front. I think he’s simply too good and will win with a little in hand and that Cox and Kirby will have thought through the likely scenarios and will be prepared.
October 21, 2017 at 13:07 #1322662Harry Angel, unsurprisingly, friendless so far today. Does look a woeful price.
October 21, 2017 at 13:12 #1322670EW Donjuan T for me.
October 21, 2017 at 14:00 #1322689I’ve done Harry Angel at 11/8. Normally I would baulk at the price but class should out.
Caravaggio hasn’t looked like the Commonwealth Cup form since and he got up quite late in the day then.
I’ve got Quiet Reflection as a lay here, not convinced by the form of her last start.
I think Harry Angel should be ridden from the front and simply go faster than the supposed pacemakers. They can’t make the pace if he goes to the front.
If he weakens then so be it but surely it’s better to simply go out there and go for it, than try any silly tactics.
Let’s hope it’s a good performance whatever.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
October 21, 2017 at 14:06 #1322692Get in, my old favourite finally gets the breaks!
October 21, 2017 at 14:07 #1322693Smashing Graham, your loyalty rewarded
and well done Brixton too.October 21, 2017 at 14:07 #1322694What a win for Tony Bloom! His first group one on the flat as an owner I believe.

My mate used to work with him in Gibraltar.
I think what that result showed is that the favourites are too short today on this ground, and you need horses that can stay that bit further. Suspect stayers should be dismissed (take note, barney roy fans
)October 21, 2017 at 14:08 #1322695Well done Botchy!
