Distance and stamina is also about relativity to the opposition and class always plays a part too, provided the horse isn’t one who makes life harder to stay a certain trip by pulling/being keen, you do get some shall we say slower horses who obviously need a test but its unlikely we’ll see any of them today. The pulling/being keen would be my concerns for Noble Style in particular whereas Little Big Bear switches off enough that I think he will stay a mile, but you don’t need to just stay a mile to win a classic most of the time and he might need to improve for it. Rodin will be quick enough to win over a mile but will probably improve for further, is there something with more speed than him and enough stamina that is classy enough to win today is the question. I’m not sure on Chaldean or Silver Knott myself on the class angle, particularly the latter, but they would be my two main two plays against the O’Brien pair.

Serpentine didn’t win a Group 1 going into a Derby and caused a bit of a surprise whereas Chaldean won arguably the big 2 yr old race of the season so imo has decent credentials coming into the race with only LBB rated higher. I’m with you on LBB as well but if he doesn’t stay and AR needs further where do you think Chaldean will finish since you describe him as one of the most overrated horses in training? And who then wins?
May 6, 2023 at 09:29 #1646685Chaldean will finish fourth or fifth- at best. If he gets on the first three, it’ll be a sign that this is a very weak renewal.
May 6, 2023 at 09:33 #1646686Chaldean is no longer 8s now anyway. Being backed. Into 6s in places. Some of the racing public agreeing with me that 8s was too big.

I take the view that it may be a weak renewal if outside of LBB, Chaldean and AR win it as one is top rated one won the Dewhurst and one won the Futurity, and the top 3 rated horses coming into it in that order.
May 6, 2023 at 09:54 #1646692I rate Chaldean’s chance better than Glad does but I would not read too much into the horse being backed. It is Dettori’s last Guineas mount and was always going to shorten.

Not necessarily. If he was a 9-2 shot like I thought he should be, would he have been backed off of that price into 5-2/3s? I have my doubts.
May 6, 2023 at 11:05 #1646705Why would it suggest its a weak guineas if the dewhurst winner, wins it, rated higher than the fav, with the 2nds/3rds coming out and winning g2s placed in group 1s at the breeders cup etc
What is it your basing that off glad?, because its not off the formline, it sais something conpletely different to suggesting ittl be a weak guineas should he win
The LBB formline through persian force and shartash is hardly glowing…
Im struggling to see what your opinions based off?

Add Blackbeard to that and it stacks up, trouble is its all 2/3 furlongs short of a mile
Blackbeard to conquer the World
May 6, 2023 at 11:10 #1646710Chaldean is the best 2yo frankel has produced
If like most of frankels progeny he improves significantly from 2 to 3 then he has a huge chance of winning today
He also looks like one of the few runners in the race that will be a genuine miler
He’s drawn well judging by yesterday’s racing, has won a group 1 at the track, will race prominently which always helps at Newmarket
Has lots in his favour, he should be 2nd favourite imo
May 6, 2023 at 11:25 #1646713I think we’ll see Chaldean’s price shortening up a lot as we approach off time and when people get a chance to see him in the paddock and what a little powerhouse he is. Not grown a lot over the winter but makes up for it in muscle power.
The two Godolphin horses both worthy of EW money.
My bets are on looking forward to this one, JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...May 6, 2023 at 11:27 #1646715Chaldean’s beaten Indestructible twice and had Isaac Shelby last behind him in the Dewhurst.
They’ve come out and won the Craven and the Greenham.
Nothing in behind Little Big Bear at The Curragh has won a race since, though Persian Force, Shartash and Bradsell have all run decent enough races in defeat.
And Epictetus didn’t exactly frank the Futurity form in style at Epsom.
And all the others racing beyond 6f for the first time will be seeking to buck trends – I’ve always thought of 7f as being a short mile and 6f being a long five and that the jump is from 5f-6f sprinting to 7f-1m miling.
Chaldean has miler written all over him and should be even better this year than he was last year.
Should run well.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"May 6, 2023 at 11:38 #1646719I’m gonna take a chance on Sakheer. Very much a dark horse. Fine traveller. Sharp turn of speed. Lovely stride. Just hoping he’ll stay.
May 6, 2023 at 11:44 #1646720LBB looked a huge tank of a horse last year
Will he handle the dip without getting unbalanced?
Will he still have his turn of speed after running an extra 2f?
Such an interesting race this
Very much looking forward to it, just a shame the rest of the card is so poor
May 6, 2023 at 12:00 #1646722Hope any significant rain stays away, it’ll spoil the race.
May 6, 2023 at 12:19 #1646729Good job they watered the track the other day isn’t it
