June 6, 2020 at 15:44 #1489949I am eating humble pie.
I am going to be quiet for the rest of the day.
Thought Pinatubo had it, he took a pull and didnt pick up like Buick thought he would.
Gutted

June 6, 2020 at 15:45 #1489950Great for Kingsclere to have a classic winner again.
No obvious excuse for the favourite.
June 6, 2020 at 15:46 #1489952Won like a true champion. No excuses for almost anyone in the race. Looking forward to see where he goes from now.
June 6, 2020 at 15:48 #1489954Proud of Wichita.
Just got chinned late on.June 6, 2020 at 15:49 #1489955Like to praise this forum, as some great racing experts are gathered here
They warned about Waldkönig, they warned about Pinatubo and they were absolutely rightJune 6, 2020 at 15:52 #1489956Well done Frenchy and everyone else on.
What a lovely shot of Oisin and Kameko alone on the heath afterwards in the longer grass with the trees in the background. If it wasn’t for the silks and the plaits it could have been just a horse and rider out for a hack on an early summer day.June 6, 2020 at 15:54 #1489959Kingsclere ?
Qatar Racing own the winner.
Whats the Kingsclere connection ?
Colosus… heart broken
June 6, 2020 at 15:57 #1489960Well done the winners
I put Kameko in as a comp selection as Balding is in good form
Wanted Pinatubo to kick on from last year and he ran okay and no excuses, perhaps a mile stretches him slightly as he has a bundle of speedBlackbeard to conquer the World

June 6, 2020 at 16:07 #1489964Quote Sporting Sam….
“The boss tells me she lime Kammeko”
Should read, The boss tells me she likes Kameko.
She is a show jumper and loves to paddock watch.June 6, 2020 at 16:08 #1489965LOL Colosus
you can give it me when you buy me that pint for naming the courses with R.A.C.E.S in their namesBlackbeard to conquer the World
June 6, 2020 at 16:09 #1489966He did very well to win from off the pace – not sure about the Derby trip (looks a 10F horse to me) and the track may also be an issue. Wichita ran a great race, I wonder if they might drop him back in trip.
Thought Military March ran a great Derby trial in 4th under a very sympathetic ride from Hector Crouch and just a word also for Juan Elcarno who I thought ran above expectations in 5th.
Think I heard them say it was the fastest 2000 guineas ever run

June 6, 2020 at 16:16 #1489969Agree with Greenasgrass. It was really good to see that view of the winner after the race. This always used to be shown at Newmarket but now the television director just cuts to a replay straightaway.
The sight of the horses framed against the sky on the heath is one of the finest in British racing. It is almost as if time has fallen away and we are looking at Newmarket in the age of Stubbs.
No need to cut so quickly to a replay. Let us see the view!
June 6, 2020 at 16:18 #1489970LD73 AOB said Wichita may get further in time. I didn’t see a reason to go back in trip. He got nabbed late on after seeing off the favourite.
June 6, 2020 at 16:30 #1489971So Pinatubo is no Frankel
I would no longer get excited for a 2yo anymore as lot transpires during the winter break. First Too Darn Hot flopped and now Pinatubo. Its definitely not the same horse we have seen last year.
Also, what a special race ‘Vertem Futurity Trophy’ is at the end of the year. Last 3 winners of that race went onto win guineas. With all guineas trials like Craven, Greenham etc., its Vertem Futurity producing most guineas winners recently.
