I don’t usually play ante post and I am going against the grain here ‘too small, wont train on,needs further gone to breeders cup’ etc
I am willing to play the 12s September, come may (or when decs are declared) you will probably see why I don’t play ante postFebruary 5, 2018 at 03:46 #1340916Hi Folks, I’m back
!
At first I’d like to send greetings to my favorite users Nathan Hughes and Jac!
Nathan, maybe JK will never improve, will he
?
Jac, you are very busy at the moment with the blue boys at Meydan, right?
I followed your contributions and I must confess once more, you are really an excellent punter (or is there a female word, perhaps puntress?), and a wonderful person!
Now back to this topic:
I must say I am very fond of Clemmie, and I must confess, she is the biggest bet for a couple of years for me,
because I honestly think she is nearly invincible in this race!
Of course we have only seen her over 6f yet, but from her breeding, she can’t “just” be a sprinting horse!
So my thinking is, stretching her to 8f will bring out the very best in her!
If any of you has any news about her, please feel free to post it here, even if it’s very early in the season!
As many of you, I am desperately wishing for the new turf season to start, and by the way:
I am a supporter of love and peace, and I will stick to those ideals now
!February 5, 2018 at 18:05 #1340969Hey Hein.
Love and peace sounds good…..
JK is doing okay, could still do better but not easy with the likes of City as competition.
Agree with you that Clemmie will be fine for 8f, would of been nice to see her at atleast 7f beforehand but that looks unlikely now. I’m on at 33’s for Newmarket and 66’s for English/Irish double so she’s my main hope for the flat.Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
February 5, 2018 at 18:27 #1340974Hello Hein
How have you been doing?
Hope you didn’t follow any of my Meydan tips last Thursday a complete washout but hoping to do better this week although it’s just passing the time until the big races come along…not long now
I love Clemmie and she’s going to be a tough little nut to crack so I’m looking for some each way value and have taken 33/1 on Richard Hannon’s filly Tajaanus.
She won the Sweet Solera Group 3 on the July Course at Newmarket last year beating Juliet Cupulet and I absolutely love the way she runs and her courage, very much like a colt and if she has wintered well she could run into a nice place or even win this.

More nearer the time and good luck Hein
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...February 5, 2018 at 23:29 #1341007Hi Nathan,
fine that you are content with JK, I was just not sure if his fatal German temperament is still striking sometimes.
Sure, it would be better to grant Clemmie a training race to get used to 8f, but if O’Brian will do so, we will see. I admire you and others for those giant odds, mine are quite a bit shorter, but my stakes are quite high, so I’m already shuffling my feet for this race to come!Hello Jac,
don’t worry, I just read your great analysis but I didn’t act:-). Lately I only bet a Godolphin horse called Ocean of Love, the bookies tried to hide her with longer odds, but I saw through this manoeuvre and won with her.
At Meydan the Godolphins are very dominant from what I’ve observed, but sometimes they are hard to dinstinguish when there are three or four of them in one race, right? For Thursday Winter Lightning might be an obvious chance; she even is declared for the German Diana, so she must have stamina:-), but if she wins on Thursday, I really can’t tell
.
I am hopeful and confident for you to find some winners
.
I’ve already read that you like Tajaanus, but to be honest I would be relieved if she took second place, I hope this would do for you?
Thank you very much Jac and good luck for you, too
.Let’s hope for a great turf season coming soon
!February 6, 2018 at 12:14 #1341031With Winter Lightning running again this week, I felt it was time to have a bet on Veracious for the Guineas.
Michael Stoute’s Frankel filly built on her promising debut when landing her next start from the Godolphin filly. Winter Lightning was quite well fancied that day and was the more imposing looking filly of the two but it was Veracious who picked up better and kicked four lengths clear.
Looking as if she may fill out and improve over the winter, Veracious seemed very much to still be learning her trade and a mile looks sure to suit. The trainer stated that a Guineas tilt could be on the cards and it’s been a 1000 Guineas where not that many appeal and Clemmie is short enough now, with the mile unknown, although likely to be within her grasp given the trainer and the record of the sire in getting runners who stay a bit further than you might expect, if not quite the “These Galileo’s will stay as far as you want them to stay” opinion of the trainer.
Veracious is 25/1 now and if Winter Lightning is impressive on Thursday, I could see some nibbling from the current odds of Stoutie’s promising filly. I like the way Veracious stretched away in her win and I expect a more experienced and perhaps stronger filly this season. She is unexposed and a tenner at 25/1 is worth a punt for an interest. Most of my ante-posts are on the Colts races this year but I’ll have a tickle here and pick one for the Oaks later.
This is the replay for the Newmarket race won by Veracious:-

Best of luck to Nathan and others on Clemmie at huge odds. That’s a cracking bet to have now

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
February 6, 2018 at 12:24 #1341034yep best of luck to the Clemmie supporters( a great bet now as steve says) I am still clutching my September voucher with the hope I get a run. Hope you are reading Aidan
February 6, 2018 at 17:42 #1341053his fatal German temperament is still striking sometimes
It does but also a lot of that is frustration when things go wrong, I wouldn’t worry too much as it shows he still has the passion for the job and compare that with Conte last night, never have I seen him so emotionless on the sidelines, looks to have given up.

February 7, 2018 at 00:04 #1341093You are right Nathan, he must let this pressure out sometimes.
That’s what I meant, his eyes are really scary then, but that his fire is still burning, is surely a good thing.
By the way, what did you mean with “it looks unlikely to see Clemmie beforehand”, do you have any information in this direction?February 7, 2018 at 14:48 #1341143Nothing set in stone and I’m only going by what Aidan O’Brien tends to do as a trend with his main guineas hopes in that the majority go straight to Newmarket without a prep.
last 5 years
2017 Rhododendron – straight to Newmarket
2016 Minding – straight to Newmarket
2015 Qualify – straight to Newmarket (only runner)
2014 Tapestry – straight to Newmarket
2013 Moth – prep run the month beforeGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
February 7, 2018 at 22:50 #1341194Thank you Nathan, this is indeed a clear tendency.
Then I hope O’Brian will decide what’s best for her and that everything will work out fine.March 7, 2018 at 16:15 #1345115I was going to do a preview for the French 3YO’s this season but the work involved versus the level of interest on the forum just isn’t there.
Anyway, one of the fillies on my short list is Wind Chimes, by Mastercraftsman, who was 2/2 last season, winning a Listed contest on her second start to earn a RPR of 100. She showed an excellent turn of foot over 7F on very soft ground on her second start and had a very willing attitude about her.
Andre Fabre has said it is very likely she goes to Newmarket for the 1000 Guineas and that is very interesting considering that owners Coolmore have the fairly warm favourite Clemmie and others in the race already.
Are we to read anything into this move?
My main concern for Wind Chimes is whether she handles faster ground. She is clearly well suited by cut and looks likely to progress to group races this season.
Generally 16/1 for the Guineas now.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
March 7, 2018 at 16:20 #1345117Ladbrokes and Coral now all-quoted on both Guineas after today’s entry stage.
March 7, 2018 at 17:15 #1345129steve whack the preview up it was a good read last year throughout the season(with the updates) I for one would welcome it
March 7, 2018 at 22:52 #1345185Same. I enjoy all your posts Steve.
Still hoping on Alpha Centauri
March 8, 2018 at 15:33 #1345285The interest is definitely there Steve, I really enjoyed following the French racing last season.
France Galop provide an excellent service, I’d recommend everybody with an interest in French racing make a free account.
March 8, 2018 at 23:14 #1345364Add me to that too Steve.
As a huge September fan for the Oaks, I probably ought to back her for this. I was at Newmarket when she was close in the Fillies group one last year and was unlucky in running.
Later in the card, I had veracious win for me and winter lightning has franked the form over in Dubai. I like your 25s and if she’s that price after Cheltenham, I can see myself getting involved.
