National hunt racing, keeps a certain amount of horses out of the dog/cat food tins. Cant hack it as real racehorses send them over jumps.

My own preference is for NH – for most of the reasons already mentioned. I love the Cheltenham Festival – for me, it is simply a mouth-watering prospect. I’m sure it is for all racing fans. More importantly, I tend to win more money, and certainly win more often and more consistently when backing horses over the jumps. Maybe that’s the real reason.

July 8, 2007 at 20:32 #106739For crying out loud, a horse who prefers soft ground doesn’t actually run faster on it than on a firmer surface, it’s just that he’s relatively less inconvenienced by it than his firm ground-loving rivals.
Yes; but I would have thought that a horse would run with more enthusiasm on ground it likes, than ground it doesn’t like. Surely you’ve seen soft ground horses fail to give their running on ground which is too firm for them – or are those horses actually slow, and we don’t notice on soft ground because the rest of the field are slowed down to their level?
And why are you so exasperated? I’ve never had this conversation with you before, have I?, you ugly tramp.

The Betchworth Kid 5.60…took 4.20 by mistake (WON 7/2 @ SP)…1 n/r but bet 100% matched after it’s declaration.
Had a quick look at the Oddschecker and 5.30 was matched at 2.31pm so my odds of 5.60 may well have been taken…hard to say…I know somebody had a tenner matched on BF @ 8.00 overnight.
Stats Update (July):
Betting @ SP: 18 bets, 38.89% s/r, 7% r.o.i., 2.70% r.o.o.i.
Exchanges: 15 bets, 46.67% s/r, 50.85% r.o.i., 24.15% r.o.o.i.
All in all, a good day…but failed to obtain VALUE…which is the main aim on this thread…

Brico

I dabble in a bit of flat, but come November I drop it like a disease-riddled hot potato in favour of the fantastic sport of National Hunt racing.

Good one insomniac.

When I watch the BBC I want both sides of the argument equally and fairly presented; that is, after all, the BBC’s remit
Really? I don’t agree (no surprise there then).
What I want was to see from the BBN News team are a factual representation of a given situation, based on the most up-to-date information available. A news programme is not the correct forum to establish ‘both sides of the argument’ – it should do nothing more than broadcast the facts, and leave interpretation up to the individual. Broadly speaking, thats what it does, and does it reasonably well imo.

I’m now reading Mark Billingham’s Lazy Bones – he can be a miserable sort of writer sometimes – well his characters can be very depressing. I haven’t read him for a while, so it’s a chance to see if he’s cheered up.
