Bowen seems to want to ride out the back far too often for my liking. The more praise he gets for winning from nowhere, the more he does it. Why can’t he have the race put to bed before the last more often? Too many of his wins occur in the dying strides and it’s rarely a comfortable watch.
His style just isn’t for me. Waits too long, too often for the grandstand finish.

I haven’t been impressed with him on Long Draw on more than one occasion now. His ride on him at Haydock was an absolute shocker. His ride on Daylatedollarshort a couple of weeks back was another shocker.
I don’t even rate his win in the novice chase yesterday. He hit every damn fence on the track over the course of 2 circuits for Gods sake

When Skelton rides from the back I often have a pretty good idea if I’m going to go close from 4 or 5 out. With Bowen, I often don’t have a clue.

For me, a great jockey can ride from the front, middle or back depending on whats needed. I’ve never been a fan of the Carberrys or Spencers who just want to sit out the back every single time.
