We seem to be back on the winning trail after another profitable Saturday last weekend with Mister Fisher netting us a winner at 5/2 (advised price – 2 bets advised on the day). That followed on from Walk In The Mill at 9/1 (advised price – 3 bets advised) the previous week.
Conditions will be extremely testing at both Ascot and Haydock and this can make for tough punting. I’ve had a good look through both cards in detail and while there are plenty interesting horses that would normally attract my interest the ground is a significantly unknown factor in many cases.
I do think that PALOMA BLUE (3/1 general price – Ascot 1.15 race) is one that will be fine on the ground, having shown up well to be a close second to the useful Getabird on heavy at Gowran Park last month. He had useful form over hurdles (fourth in a Supreme Hurdle at the festival) and has taken to fences well enough. His win over Moon In Germany last Christmas at Leopardstown was another grand effort and I have him roughly the same horse as Riders On The Storm who is much shorter here (currently 6/4).
On The Blind Side has ground concerns (capable if taking to it) and I suspect the winner will come from this trio. De Bromhead doesn’t travel them for fun and with Davy Russell also turning up I think a big run is expected. 3/1 Paloma Blue looks a touch too big and he’s the one to be with on what looks a potentially challenging punting Saturday.
