Alcantor @ 20/1
Looked a nice 2YO last year and thought it was a huge step up on his run at Newmarket today from a nightmare draw. No idea if he runs or not but half the price would be fair enough IMO.

Ballydoyle only have Diego left in.
May 29, 2024 at 23:49 #1695998AOB has told Equidia today that Diego has recovered well from his Guineas, the French Derby distance is ideal for him and he is best on soft ground. Maybe that’s why he has hardened into 7/2 today.
I think he must have a great chance but I don’t see the proverbial gun to the head either for a win either for this free spirit.
May 30, 2024 at 00:22 #1695999Not sure why AOB said he is best on soft when his only two wins came on good ground and he clearly wasn’t in love with the officially heavy ground in the Futurity at Doncaster (10.05s slow) at the end of last season.
He therefore surprised me with his 4th in the French 2000g (as it was on offically soft ground, which I thought would be an issue after Doncaster) but low and behold when you look at the time of the race, it was actually only 2.64s slow, so quite clearly it wasn’t remotely soft ground.
Thought Epsom would have been a much better option given his half brothers are Broom and Point Lonsdale (both won over further than 12F) but hopefully if he can avoid trouble in running he should be well in the mix, unless it ends up being run on proper French soft.
May 30, 2024 at 04:57 #1696001The English Guineas form is working out well so far. Rosallion and Haatem 1st and 2nd in the Irish Guineas, Inisherin who was 6th has come out and won. Ghostwriter, unbeaten at 2, was 4th in it and a step up to 10f looks the right move connections have said. He’s not run on soft ground but he is by Invincible Spirit, whose progeny, including Kingman and Moonlight Cloud, have all shown winning form on soft. So if it was that he may have that covered too. I think he has every chance granted an ok draw and i’m very much looking forward to it.
Diego doesn’t want it soft as i understand it. From the Racing Post last paragraph…
May 30, 2024 at 11:35 #169602712 mm fell yesterday with plenty of rain due up to Saturday evening. Expected going is to be very testing for Sunday according to sky sports.
May 30, 2024 at 12:00 #1696031Not seeing much more rain in this forecast…
May 30, 2024 at 12:03 #1696033Have a look at the Meteo France Paris Map and you’ll see plenty of rain up to Saturday night
May 30, 2024 at 14:20 #1696048Ghostwriter stall 2. Happy with that.
May 31, 2024 at 15:10 #1696226Paris Turf reported this morning likely going as very soft as result of cool temperatures. They say you have go back a quarter of a century to Holding Court and Montjeu for similar ground conditions.
May 31, 2024 at 15:57 #1696248Ghostwriter for me also. I think he’s the proven entity of the race.
June 1, 2024 at 17:48 #1696629English Guineas form boosted some more with City Of Troy.
June 1, 2024 at 18:41 #1696657Looking at that Meteo France weather maps I’m not sure if that “occasional rain” ever materialised.
We’ll know in the morning with the going report.
Might turn out to be more holding than soft/very softDiego being offered best online at 15/4 by PP/BF at the moment.
Moore will certainly be feeling confident anyway.June 1, 2024 at 21:58 #1696680Sunway for me, good luck all
