Group 3 Prix de Chenes coming up just before 1pm at Chantilly over a mile where Rosberg has a “heads or harps” chance – worth having a look!
Modest opening maiden at Newbury probably best left alone.. Notwithstanding his size the favourite will probably prove superior in class to the rest. I’ll take a chance on Oakford despite the break as an interest bet. Showed good attitude in that ordinary maiden at Goodwood and should appreciate the ground and you never know what a little Cape Cross in the background can do. Maybe he’s best when fresh and has made solid progress as will be required here. Market will indicate my fate before the off!
O’Connor tiptoes oh so diplomatically around the elephant in the room in his Irish Times column today while beating around the bush – although not on a par with the Gary and Ruby Show last Saturday after the Champion Stakes! I’d be less diplomatic and would say two O’Brien trainers in the upper echelon of Irish Flat Racing is company but three is a crowd!
Nice photo there of the brothers from 2018!
Oisin and the Yarmouth stewards obviously didn’t read Richard Forristal’s strong piece on this over their Weetabix this morning. Maybe they should read it tonight over their cocoa!
Being behind Equus Victor LTO might justify gamble on Dawnmore – decent race
Well that “tussle” wouldn’t encourage anyone to bet midweek!
A bit easier at Sandown than I was expecting.
United Authority may be worth a play purely as a value pick at 5s. Didn’t really stretch out here on the fast ground on his debut and then may have encountered a slower stretch for much of the time by the rail at Leicester. He looks tidy and compact. Saver on the Jolly with that early market support
May be completely wrong but the uphill mile here may not be what Chymbulak needs. Big enough behind so may be better to stick to 7 – to my completely untutored eye!
Interesting puzzler out in Eadestown for the Miler card
Dancing in the City looks like a nice middle distance prospect and his class may tell but I feel he may be better on easier ground at this stage
Noble Exhibit may find a slow pace best so he can deploy fully his speed potential
Francillion is modestly built and was disappointing in how he folded at the finish at Leopardstown. Nevertheless I’d still give him the nod. A front-running ride by Mr Keane may be too much to expect!
Is that an AOB rollocking or bollocking I see in Brian O’Connor’s latest report (Irish Times) on Dusty the Kid’s Irish Champion Stakes transgression!
For the PP Benevolent Fund!
1 goal each half
4 Corners each half
1 card each half11/4!
Come on Ref, lay down the law!
Decent performance v the Cherries so Magpies may be underestimated with all their England influence
Magpies to score each half
& 2 corners each half @ 7/1 may look generous tonightI’ll risk an interest bet at my favourite Thameside graveyard! It’s only 5f.
Red Blue Point did enough at Newmarket from what turned out to be an awkward draw to justify Even money favouritism this afternoon although not sure about the early pace there. Not the biggest but looks gutsy and would need to take a relatively easy opportunity like this to lose his maiden status.
I’ll nominate Seaney on Urimita for my dodgy insurance policy. Looks like she wont mind digging her heels in if Rossa’s mount runs out of steam near the finish.
If the first race suggests it’s easier than expected I may regret not having switched the bet around!
Strange how GS and Haffner ran so poorly. The 2yos are kept separate from the older horses. Are the 2yo colts held separate to the fillies?
WD Venture!
Didn’t see that comingThis Derby won’t be a contest between a pub team and a team playing in second gear I hope!
Citeh Win
Win race to 5 corners
Score 3Is where my 5/1 Fiver Wop is gone!
Great to see “Saffron Rose” win this classic especially after being rightly peeved by team tactics in a recent race I seem to recall. Now we know why some girls are named Joy!
Hesitant call from me as very different profiles here and I haven’t looked at the outsiders
Have my doubts about the Vintage form as Rulers Control is not a million miles away. Wouldn’t be surprised to see the Sausage reverse placings. The Curragh plain not as easy for devious inside moves by the Doctor!
Yes Monogram could be anything but he won’t have time to dance his way into it today or exhibit his giant strides on this easier ground. May not be given too hard a race if he doesn’t take to it.
The Giant isn’t actually that big and he was picky enough on the easy ground FTO but has shown enough to suggest there is decent engine there. Aidan says he’ll stay 10f next year.
Despite the stable form I’ll suggest
Giant – Haffner
Haffner – GiantGiant by a head!
A 5/1 WOP for the Toffee Spurs game
BTTS & 2 Corners each team each half
COYB!
