Ladies Cup final in Ireland coming up at 3.30 between “Inter” Athlone and Shelbourne
If some televised games I’ve caught in recent months were really competitive looking this would be a 5pt Athlone Win for me as Shels ball retention has looked very poor by their usual standards. Only 2pts then for Athlone to be hungry enough to lift the cup.
Quiet til end of week so I’ll give this Epsom race a shot!
Classy Rose Moon wasn’t the most balanced looking individual at Salisbury I ever saw so maybe the other two here have a chance on this tricky track.
Astabuen may give Quite Cheeky’s outing here a bit of credence and live wire Fallon may be the first to grab the rail. Let’s see!
Senorita Bonita it seems was more sensitive to that fast Summer ground than the favourite. In hindsight it wasn’t wise to go toe to toe with her for the duration of the race. Let’s hope we see her again on easier ground before seasons end.

Just looking back at it again, looks like Senorita was beaten fair and square by the unrelenting pace. Doubt if there was much wrong with her.
Professionals must think all the tipsters and us punters are seduced by speed. Compare Sun Goddess’s performance in relation to Velozzee in the Phoenix to that of Senorita’s against Man’s Best Friend in the Morny. I don’t think there’s that much between them and the favourite is too short at Evens today. I hope Oisin fires the rocket two furlongs out and he might just make it home by a fast diminishing 1.5 lengths! It’s conker season and I’m keeping the faith that this leggy chestnut beauty can show these bays a clean set of heels!

Not much agreement here. You would think Quest for Stars 4s would give us a run for our money if he’s recovered from his Leopardstown exertions. Drawn wide, quick early pace, two wide round the long turn and still game coming up the hill for a distance probably a furlong too far. Perhaps an ideal prep! And maybe a light touch jockey like Billy the Kid is what he needs today. Strange mixture here of middle distance and not quite middle distance types.
GL but looks fast ground type on breeding. My guess is he’ll be well into his Winter hibernation by time of Futurity.
Having a punt is often about a clear choice between potential class and proven form. Today’s such choice is between Spirited Gesture and Light of Dawn and these two could finish clear of the rest. The latter hasn’t had much opportunity to build on that admirable Royal Ascot performance. She kind of fell between two stools at Deauville and failed to really shine as much as I would have liked when winning at Goodwood even considering the slow ground. Well she has that chance this afternoon on faster ground.
Spirited Gesture has more optics than form to offer. A fine physical specimen but seems to have a bit of a knee action which may go against her today. Keane might be best advised to identify the pace angle very quickly and if not quick enough to take charge. This is not a race she wants to see take off going into the dip as she may have superior stamina to her sparring partner. On a very ropey convoluted line through our Ava which I won’t explain! she may just possibly have superior class too. Beware Keane is up against a jockey who knows the Rowley better!
Miss Miniver may have been flying under the radar in that snug win at Salisbury and can’t be ignored completely here.

Looks a weak enough Group3. Mezzo’s York races weren’t the strongest but most other form lines aren’t any better. Looks as steady as they come and certainly not flashy and one for Ryan to easily dictate pace on from the front. Ground looks fast enough which may be on his favour.
Just a hunch Great Balls may be a lot for Saffie to handle so danger could be elsewhere. Sontsivka has looked a big type that is a work in progress and may relish the Rowley after his July Course debut – my very limited insurance policy today!
Surprised to see the money for Zigazig as thought this might be a match. Hard to pass Tikka after her “what am I doing in this company” performance at Kempton. Another learning curve for her today and getting the 7f won’t be so easy on the Downs I would think.
Tough for Ava to concede weight here. I’ll give her the nod by a head after her plausible efforts in decent company after some handicap outings and she may appreciate the faster ground. Will be a test for Charlie to have a plan and to get the vital positioning right in the rear at all times today!
Saver on Tikka and “super saver” on Fillipas who was run off her feet a little early on LTO at Salisbury and may place or even do better.
Presumably these Reds won’t be insulting their south coast hosts in how they deploy their arsenal!

Gunners looking they could up a gear to take this one in 2nd half – seagulls dangerous in attack but overall look a little more like bantam weights
Seagulls will be very guarded with the Gunners about! So I’ll try Under 3.5s
